Mind-Shift Clinic

The “Mind-Shift Clinic” was the third or fourth place in town that performed body swaps between two willing people. The things were really becoming ubiquitous, though no one seemed to know anyone that actually went inside of one -- the technology was just still so new and people were skeptical.

Most people didn’t understand the technology at all, so even when a fire broke out at the clinic, few passersby were concerned...until the explosion.

It was like the tech leaked into the vicinity, swapping the bodies of people left and right. Vince hadn’t even been aware anything had happened when he felt the wave from the clinic. As he picked himself up, he could tell something was wrong -- the skirt, the tights, the long hair...none of it was his. As he looked around, it seemed he wasn’t the only one affected either.

Nick remembered how miserable it was waking up the first morning in Leah’s body. But it’s not like the days that followed got any better. While he wasn’t waking up hungover again, it was still waking up in a body that wasn’t his own -- that was worse.

Despite searching all over the place, there didn’t seem to be another Body Swap Clinic (although they did still see the ad every once and a while) or anything else that offered such services. It meant that he was not only going to be stuck with Leah’s body, but also her life. He was going to have to go to her job and wear her clothes...and he had only just met her that night!

If only they had gone out to get matching tattoos instead...

Drunken Impulse

Going to a tatoo parlor with a woman after getting drunk with her at a bar is a bad idea; going to the Body Swap Clinic with her is worse. Nick was already drunk by the time the commercial came on the television at the bar; Leah joked about going; and, for some reason, it all seemed to make sense in the moment.

Heck, even for the rest of the night, Nick was having a blast in Leah’s body; she was loving being him too. They were just both too drunk to really think about it.

It wasn’t until the next morning when the consequences of their hasty decision sunk in. Now sober, they both rushed back to the clinic, but found that it was now shut down. It seemed they were having a final night “Going Out of Business” sale.

Nick and Leah desperately started looking for another location or comprable service or anything...

Happy Father's Day

“Dad, can we please go back to the Body Swap Clinic? This old woman’s body is super uncomfortable.” Ethan complained.

“One thing. I asked for one thing for Father’s Day this year, and that was to go to the Body Swap Clinic to swap into a young woman’s body for a day. It’s been two hours, Ethan. Come on,” His father replied, “You didn’t have to participate.”

“Giving up my own body in exchange was the only way I could afford the gift for you! And wasn’t it sort of sweet when the mother offered to take your older body instead of mine?”

“And that’s exactly why we can’t go back yet. It was a four way swap, and I’m not ready to go back to being an old man. And like you said, that mother did everything to keep this woman from ending up in my body. And I’m sure the young woman doesn’t want to be in her own mother’s either. So we’re all stuck like this until it’s time to swap back, okay? Stop whining and let me enjoy this!”

“Yeah, well, maybe having a nagging mother -- or mother-like person -- is exactly an appropriate experience while you’re in an 18-year-old’s body!”
