Cramps

Up until this point, Martin’s participation in the experiment had gone swimmingly. Swapping bodies with Lexi had been practically a non-issue for him. He had grown up with two sisters, so putting on makeup or choosing a fashionable outfit were just things he knew how to do.

But then about three weeks in on his way to work, the cramps started. Nothing could have prepared him for period pains. They were like nothing he had ever felt before. For about ten minutes, he couldn’t even move. He had known they were coming eventually, but no amount of warning could have prepared him for this. Were Lexi’s particularly bad? Or was this just something all women felt?

His hope was that he’d just get used to them. After all, he still had six more months left in this experiment!

After calling in sick, Neil mostly just sat in bed for most of the day, not feeling like doing much of anything. When he finally got up at about 3, he looked down at his sheet nervously. There was a giant blood stain. He felt a twinge of worry; what was happening to him? Was he injured? Dying? Then it dawned on him. His life had been going so well since the Shift, he had forgotten the obvious -- he was a woman now. What was happening was completely natural, and would now happen to him each and every month. He wasn’t sure if he was ready for this!

Shawn was glad to have a bit of time alone in his sister's body before her friend Kelly met back up to start making demands about how to act. He walked slowly to the lunchroom when he felt something strange on his leg. His sister and Kelly were so concerned about how to instruct Shawn on appearances that they forgot one very important thing--it was his sister's time of the month.

Any worse?

When the Great Shift switched Martin into his sister's body, he felt so humiliated. He thought it couldn't get any worse until he was on his way home and felt something strange. He felt even more humiliated when he realized that he needed a tampon, but there simply wasn't one in his sister's extra large purse. Ugh, could this day get any worse?

Domes

When the three men sat down in chairs, they never expected three domes to fall on top of their heads. The wires connected to these domes transmitted signals to three other domes where three women were sitting, and these signals swapped the men's bodies with the women's. Stan couldn't have been happier with the results, a big smile came across his face almost immediately. Next, when Bill realized what happened, he pushed the dome off his head and picked up a nearby fashion magazine. He figured that if this was his life now, he might as well read up on the finer points of being a woman. Finally, Fred reeled over in pain. It felt like his inside where churning. The body he wound up in was having cramps...it was that time of month...

Spoiling their dinner

Since the Great Shift swapped Alex and Max into the bodies of two older women, they felt they could do anything they wanted without their mothers telling them what they couldn't do. They stayed up past their bed time, they stopped attending school, and they spoiled their dinner with ice cream and other treats all the time. Yep, being bigger and older certainly had its advantages. Of course, they were soon to learn some of the problems too, like getting hit on by guys, responsibility, and worst of all...periods!

Answer Me

"I said DON'T switch our bodies, Karen," Larry yelled into the phone, "Karen? Karen? Are you there? I can hear you breathing! I want my body back. I want it now. I don't like being in your body...especially right in the middle of your period! Karen? Karen? Come on! Answer me!"

Dear Journal

"Dear Journal,

"It has now been sixteen days since the Great Shift. I have adjusted to being in a woman's body quite well up until today, which was the day of my first period. I had cramps; I felt bloated...everything people told me it would be. I hadn't missed being a guy up until this point--I had adjusted to other things, like make-up and women's clothing. Heck, I even caught myself checking a guy out the other day--A GUY! It was weird! But now, I just wish things could go back to the way they were; I wish I could be my old, male self again. But I know that's impossible...I need to learn to live with this."
