Mixer (Part 3)

Waking up the next morning proved to be difficult. Not only was Greg dealing with quite the hangover, but he also had to come to realization that he had swapped bodies all over again. Last night had felt so hazy -- not even so much a dream as almost completely non-existent. He tried to remember what had happened to cause the swap, but he couldn’t. Another visit to the mirror, and he once again recognized the face. This time the name Miss Won popped into his head -- or Karen.

After some coffee and breakfast, he dug through her closet to find something to wear. Greg realized he probably shouldn’t have been surprised to find a wardrobe that seemed to really suit a high school teacher, but that’s exactly what he found. He felt so stupid wearing a dress, but it also seemed he didn’t have much of a choice. He was just glad it was Saturday, and he could just hide out in Karen’s home and hope to swap back some time in the next two days.

Mixer (Part 2)

The atmosphere was obviously different from the kegger Greg was just at. The wine mixer was held at someone’s apartment in the nice part of town, classical music was playing, and there were conversations about politics and PBS shows. Greg just retreated to the corner to sit at the kitchen table. He tried downing the wine quickly like a beer at first, but soon settled on a more eloquent sipping.

He seemed to be the only one in someone else’s body. Or if they were, everyone was certainly acting really well at being normal -- or as normal as he guessed these people would act.

He sat for some time. From time to time, he’d chuckle due to the amount he had to drink or just by reflecting on the sheer absurdity of the situation. The crowd had thinned out considerably before anyone noticed him sitting all alone.

The host offered to get his coat and purse. Greg responded with the truth, that he was a 19 year old boy trapped in a woman’s body and that he didn’t recall where he lived. Another guest chalked up the crazy talk by assuming Karen had too much to drink -- which was also the truth in a way -- and offered to help get Greg home to Karen’s apartment. Greg accepted.

Mixer (Part 1)

One minute Greg had been chugging beers at a frat party and the next he found himself applying lipstick in the bathroom of a wine mixer, looking into a mirror and seeing a face that was not his own. He could taste the lipstick, which was no worse than foul cheap beer he had just been drinking. And it didn’t take him wrong to recognize the face.

She had taught at the high school he had graduated from not all that long ago. What was her name? Miss Wu? Miss Wong? Something like that. He had never had her, but some of his friends did. She was a young teacher and considered a bit of a pushover. Despite being young, she was still older than Greg had been. He guessed he was now about ten years older, and -- of course -- now a woman. But it didn’t make any sense. Why did he suddenly swap bodies with one of the teachers at his former high school?

Walk-In

Adam stood in awe after walking into Esther’s closet. It was huge, and every inch was packed with clothes, shoes, and handbags. He was trapped in her body for a week, and he was glad he was’t going to have to worry about laundry. He hadn’t been concerned about picking out an outfit until he saw all this; now he understood why Esther had given him so many instructions. Of course, he could only remember bits and pieces of what she said. He was going to have to text her to figure this all out. This was going to be more complicated than he imagined.

Family Dinner

Carl definitely regretted telling his best friend Edwin about the odd necklace he had found. You put the thing around your neck, touched a piece of clothing to it, and you became the last person who wore that clothing. Edwin had asked Carl for way too many favors with this thing. It was one thing when Edwin used it on himself, but for the latest favor he had begged Carl to transform himself into Edwin’s ex-girlfriend, Miriam, to attend a family dinner. Carl had never used the medallion to become a woman before, and he reluctantly agreed. While it felt weird having a woman’s body, the dinner was even weirder.

Most of Edwin’s family were jerks to Miriam; it was no wonder she broke up with him. The worst part was that Edwin would laugh along as they cracked jokes at her expense. Carl knew he technically wasn’t Miriam, but he still felt like he was the one being attacked -- because in a very real way he was. He couldn’t wait for this dinner to be over with. Once he was back to his own body, he was going to tell Edwin that there would be no more favors -- ever.

Going to Kill Her...

“I don’t care if that’s actually my body; if Jean doesn’t swap back the next time I see her, I’m going to shoot her,” A very angry David said to his friend Max while brandishing a gun, “After I shoot her, I’ll probably kill myself because I can’t stand being a woman anymore. Between menstrual cycles and bras and guys hitting on me, I can’t take it anymore.”

“Calm down, dude,” Max replied, “It can’t be that bad, can it?”

“Hey, man, if you want to try it, we’ve got the spell book. All it takes is two willing parties. Jean’s body can be all yours.”

“Okay, okay, I get it. I just hope threatening her with that thing works. I don’t want to be cleaning both your guts off the floor if you actually go through with this.”

Hitchhiking

After the Great Shift struck, Jim found himself awakening miles from home on the beach inside a woman’s body. He had no ID, no phone, and the only thing he was wearing was a skimpy bikini. He didn’t know who he was now, and the only thing he wanted to do was get home  in order to figure things out. Without many options and deciding his new body was fairly attractive, he decided to try to hitchhike. At first, he would look for men driving and try to signal to be picked up, but he quickly realized the flaw in his thinking -- people that looked like men might not actually be men thanks to the Shift, much like him. So he started signaling to women too until finally someone stopped.

Skeptical

Payal had told Kyle she had no idea how they swapped bodies. While Kyle told Payal he believed her, he was actually quite skeptical. For starters, Kyle knew he had a pretty desirable life. His parents were rich and he was only a few weeks away from graduating law school. On the other hand, he had heard Payal complaining about her family flying a man over for her arranged marriage that she desperately wanted to avoid. Plus, she worked as an assistant in the library -- the salary was low, but it gave her access to an insane amount of information. Kyle was sure one of these books had to have some sort of magic spells about body swapping or something. Or maybe it was from something they kept in the back. He wasn’t sure, but he was sure he’d find it. After all, the last thing he wanted to be was still stuck in Payal’s body when this dude came over to marry her!

Idle Wish (Part 3)

None of the wishes seemed to be working. Jonathan realized he was stuck and knew this was his new life now. He quickly began to ponder the positives. For starters, he wouldn’t have to worry about the terrible time he had been having at work. Also, this body was quite attractive. He wonder what his job was like, what his life in this new body would be like. How would he even figure any of it out?

Idle Wish (Part 2)

It still didn’t seem logically possible, but if a wish had caused this, maybe another wish could fix it. Jonathan closed his eyes tightly and wished to be back to normal. He wished to return to the body he had five minutes ago. He wished to be a guy again. He kept thinking of different ways to word the wish, but nothing seemed to work. He was still absolutely stuck in this body, and there didn’t seem to be anything he could do about it.

Idle Wish (Part 1)

It had been a particularly bad day at work for Jonathan. He showed up late, lost a big account, and got a warning that he was on thin ice. It was just for a brief moment that he wished he could be someone else, live a completely different life. And just as suddenly, he became someone else. He looked down at his now slender arm encased in yellow fabric. This arm wasn’t his; this body wasn’t his! His haphazard wish had actually come true. He was someone else -- a woman! Whoever heard of such an idle wish actually coming true? It seemed impossible, yet here he was in an entirely new body.

Vestigial Thoughts

“Hello?” A voice inside Irwin’s head asked, “What’s going on? Why can’t I control my own body?”

“Curious,” Irwin said aloud, “You’re still here.”

“How are you saying that with my mouth? With my voice? Who are you?”

“Allow me to explain. You and I are both participants in a fantastic experiment, merging the best of ourselves into one single entity. For you, it was mostly your, uh, physical attributes. For me, it was mostly my mind with it’s superior intellect. I must say that after I completed my experiment, I did not expect my optical orifices to be inseparable from my brain. And I certainly didn’t expect your vestigial thoughts.”

“So you expected my thoughts to just sort of die off? You killed me and stole my body? And now I’m just a voice inside my own head? A head YOU are currently in control of?”

“You need not be so terse in your descriptions. I assure you that I did pan to dump the leftover together eventually.  My body would likely be...adequate for you.”

“I know nothing about you, but I am absolutely sure I do not want to be you!”

“I’m afraid you will have no choice in the matter...”

Insider Trading

Julie ran down the hill to the dock, as she looked on in horror upon seeing her boyfriend toss the medallion into the river. There was no way she could get there in time to stop him.

“Michael, what the hell are you doing?” She screamed.

She watched Michael turned around to brandish a smile that was almost unsettling, considering it was actually on her own face.

“When I showed you the medallion and asked you to switch bodies with me, did you actually think I wanted to be you? To be a woman? To feel our intimacy from this side? I needed to lull you, get you to fall asleep after a night of passion, then come down here and toss the damn medallion to keep us stuck like this forever.”

“But why? If you don’t want to be a woman? Or me? Why would you do this?”

“Because the SEC is on their way -- with the police -- with the FBI. I did a lot of insider trading that finally caught up to me, and now they’re coming to arrest me.Or should I say, coming to arrest you. I am now technically completely innocent, since they’ll never believe any kind of crazy body swapping story. That leaves you to face the consequences of my crimes, and I can just continue on as you. It’s not what I wanted, but it’s better than jail.”

Adjustments

“So first you complain that I am dressed too prudish, then I go into the bathroom to make some adjustments and now you’re saying I look too slutty?” Christopher complained, “Jesus, Jen! We’ve switched bodies, and I’m doing my best, but you’ve got to grant me some leeway here! You should just be glad I figured out how to put on a bra this morning! All of this is very complicated for someone whose never done it before!”

Stoked

Grant thought robbing a convenience store was going to be easy. In hindsight, his first mistake probably was doing it in broad daylight. He hadn’t even actually robbed the guy before the police showed up. He was pretty sure that he was going to be arrested or shot. But it also seemed fate would intervene, and it would be that moment that the even which would come to be known as The Great Shift took place.

Grant couldn’t have been more stoked to be in a different body in a different part of town. Heck, he didn’t care that it was the body of a woman; he was just glad he wasn’t going to die today! He did a quick celebration before taking stock of his new body. She must’ve been out jogging or something, and she seemed pretty athletic. It wasn’t going to be too bad; he could work with this.

Underground Salon

With his barber closed, William didn’t know where he was going to get his hair cut. His wife suggested an underground salon she had been going to, and William reluctantly agreed.

It was definitely fancier than his barber and surprisingly more relaxing, too. He nearly fell asleep as they washed his hair before his cut, but once he was in the stylist’s chair he ended up passing out.

He awoke some time later feeling a jolt of energy around his brain. There was some sort of domed device above his head. Then in front of him he saw what appeared to be a mirror; but he told himself it couldn’t be, because his wife’s friend, Barbara, seemed to be staring back at him from the other side.

He scowled and Barbara seemed to do so at the exact same time. A few more slight motions later, and he discovered that Barbara wasn’t mirroring hi, he had actually become Barbara! There was something about this salon that his wife hadn’t told him, and now his brain had been swapped into the body of one of her friends!

Shoes

Phillip had no idea how he swapped with a woman walking down the street. The first he tried to do was find some identification in her stuffed oversized bag, but something else caught his eye first. Alongside some rolled up yoga pants were a pair of sneakers; he quickly sat down to put them on. They were going to be extremely more comfortable than the heels this woman had been currently wearing. As he did so, he couldn’t help but marvel how much smaller her feet were than his own. He wiggled the painted toes, and it felt so odd knowing he was the one controlling them.

After the brief detour into footwear, he started digging more into the bag to see what he could find...

Just Passing By (Part 2)

Jason thought about looking for this woman’s kid now in the man’s body. However, he took a few steps and quickly learned that walking in heels wasn’t easy. He only made it as far as a nearby bench before he needed to sit down again. He decided that the kid wasn’t his problem, right? After all, he may have been in the mom’s body, but he wasn’t ACTUALLY a mom. And the kid was now technically fully grown anyway, right? And even if those weren’t factors, there were still these damn heels to deal with. And where would he even start? The kid had run away, and there were tons of confused people around.

It felt like he had to keep telling himself a million excuses, as he was sure this woman’s hormones were fighting to want to protect her child. It was one of the many weird feelings he was having inside right now...

Just Passing By

Jason was merely walking by a playground when he suddenly felt woozy. His head was spinning and his balance felt off. He needed to sit and found himself resting his butt on a swing, which now seemed much closer than it should be. He tried to regain his composure, but somehow couldn’t quite go back to feeling normal.

Eventually, a gentleman with a mustache approached him with tear-stained cheeks. “Mommy,” The man cried, “I’m scared.”

Jason was weirded out and snapped, “Get lost creep.”

The man ran away crying even harder, and Jason tried to clear his throat. Something seemed wrong with his voice. He coughed putting his hand up to cover his mouth, seeing the painted nails on his fingers as he did so. It was all coming together in his head. With all the strange feelings, he realized he was in the wrong body. And it seemed so was this woman’s child...

Premium Package

Jeff was glad he paid for the premium package on his trip to the ski resort. Along with a few other perks, one utilized the latest body swapping technology in the event of an accident. Sure enough, Jeff broke his leg almost immediately. For the first injury, you could pick any available body. Jeff selected a guy that looked like a body builder, but soon discovered he a muscular body wasn’t nearly as flexible as his own and ended up with a sprain.

However, it seemed for subsequent accidents, you didn’t get to pick your bod -- you were assigned one. That’s how Jeff ended up as a woman for the majority of his vacation. He mostly stayed in the lodge with it. He didn’t want to risk another injury. After all, he wasn’t enjoying being a woman, but he was also sure you continued to get less desirable bodies if you cycled through more and more. Even if he had to be a woman, at least he was a young and attractive one! This was something he was reminded of fairly constantly with a barrage of pick up lines from other dudes in the lodge. He couldn’t wait for the vacation to be over, so he’d be back to his own body -- even if he’d have to deal with the broken leg once he did!

Psychology

Elliott was attending college on a football scholarship, but he needed to keep his grades up in order to maintain it. He was sure that wouldn’t be a problem if he didn’t spend so much time at practice. His psychology teacher told him he could participate in an experiment for extra credit. That’s where he met Sun.

Sun wanted Elliott to participate in a body swapping experiment. She’d have his body for the next few weeks, and he would have hers. With his body, she’d be the one attending football practice, and he’d be in her body, giving him time to study. Elliott was sure there was something more to it, but agreed because he could use both the extra credit and additional study time.

Being Sun was weird for him. He was probably less than half his former size, female, and Asian. It was a lot to take in, but he was immediately thankful for not having to practice all the time. The very next test he aced.

A mere three days later, Sun had broken Elliott’s arm in practice. She demanded he swap back early.

Elliott wondered if his reaction to this was what was actually being monitored, but he still couldn’t help but laugh. He didn’t want to go back to his own body early; in fact, he didn’t want to go back to his own body ever. An injury could ruin his career as a football player, but in Sun’s body, he actually had a better guarantee for a solid life. And he knew she couldn’t swap back in the lab without his consent. He was the nerdy Asian girl now, and it was going to stay that way!

The Pool (Part 2)

“Something must have happened when we were both in the pool.” Neil concluded logically.

He jumped to his feet and began to climb the ladder back down in, but he turned to the side to see the woman with his body hadn’t budged.

“We should both go back in to try to reverse this,” He said, expanding on his original statement.

“I get it. That makes sense,” The woman replied, “But I’m not sure I’m ready to go back yet. I mean, come on, I can try out being a GUY! How weird is that? There’s so much I want to do before we give this a try!”

The Pool (Part 1)

Neil knew he shouldn’t have sneaked into the university’s pool after hours, but he missed his chance earlier in the day. He was an excellent swimmer, so he surprised himself when for some reason he started struggling and gasping for breath.

He awoke on the side of the pool with someone giving him mouth to mouth. What was more surprising was that person appeared to look exactly like him! It took a minute for him to notice the changes to his own body. It appears he wasn’t the only one at the pool that night, and for some reason he ended up swapping bodies with the woman who was there!

Shape

James was going to miss this tomorrow. Today was his day on Exchange Island after two wonderful weeks. He had hoped to swap into a motivational body that would inspire him to lose weight. And that did sort of happen, but not in a way he ever would’ve guessed. When is plane landed on the island, he did end up swapping into a physically fit body -- it was just one that happened to be female! Despite this, he still liked the way he felt. Even though there was no way he’d be able to get his own body into the same shape, it was still nice to know how a fit body felt. He went out jogging every morning, visited the resort gym frequently, and tried out plenty of exhausting activities -- pushing this body to the limit. As he took his final jog of the trip, he knew he didn’t want to stop doing any of it. That meant he’d have to get his original body into shape...

The next few times Chen went to check in on Dave, he wasn’t home. She thought this odd, because he had never not been home. The next time she saw him was actually when she was on her way to get groceries. Her jaw dropped at what she saw.

“What the hell are you wearing?” She asked.

“What?” Dave replied, “You told me to ditch the overalls.”

“Yeah, but my body is practically naked wearing what you have on! And where the hell did you get it!? I don’t own anything like that!”

Dave shrugged, “I went out and got it.”

“Shouldn’t you be spending time fixing that device of yours, so we can swap back to normal?”

“Everyone needs a break. And I think I look cute.”

“You mean MY body looks cute? And where are you off to now anyway? Another break?”

“Something like that. When I went out shopping a guy asked me out on a date. I thought we’d hook up.”

“No way you are hooking up with anyone! That’s my body!”

“Well, not right now it isn’t. And until I do fix my device, it’s not going to be yours. And, quite frankly, you aren’t giving me much of a reason to rush with this attitude of yours all of a sudden...”

“I know it’s upsetting, but I need the time,” Dave begged.

Chen sighed, “Okay, but I have one small favor to ask.”

“Anything.”

“Could you maybe try wearing some of my clothes instead of yours? The overalls and bandanna look on my body is, well, it’s not my style.”

“Sure, yes, consider it done.” Dave said with a smile that Chen was nearly alarmed by, but she decided to keep that to herself. He had been so agreeably so far....

ETA (Part 2)

When Chen arrived the next day, Dave didn’t seem ready to swap back at all. She sort of expected him to be set up in the living room with the device ready to go. Instead, she found him in the basement putting together something that didn’t look nearly as impressive as what he had completed yesterday.

“Some bad news,” He said without looking up, “The test failed.”

Chen was at a loss for words, but Dave continued. She could tell he was upset. “I ended up frying both my cats’ brains. It was...unpleasant. I’m glad that wasn’t us though. I hate to say this, but it’s probably going to at least be another few days.”

ETA (Part 1)

After three very long days, it looked like Dave was almost finished. Chen had to admit that her neighbor had been pretty apologetic about his malfunctioning invention that resulted in them swapping bodies. He had been working all day and night to fix the thing -- it had literally caught fire shortly after the swap -- and she checked in every few hours to see how it was going. Dave always explained in detail. The technical details went over Chen’s head, but she perked up when he told her he’d likely be able to run a test in the morning and possibly be ready to swap back as early as tomorrow afternoon. She watched him work for a few more minutes, still somewhat fascinated to see her own body move without her being the one to move it.

Couldn't Be THAT Bad

Jack realized he was pretty fortunate to have swapped bodies with Wendy as a result of the Great Shift. For starters, she was also in his body, and they were also pretty good friends. She gave him a rundown of some things and joked that he might be unprepared when it came to picking out shoes, since she owed a lot. He rolled his eyes; it couldn’t be THAT bad, could it?

A few hours later, he arrived at Wendy’s house. Well, she was right about the shoes. He laughed as he opened up a second closet to discover it was even worse than what she described. He wondered how it was even possible to own this many shoes, and if it even mattered. Some of the differences between pairs were so insignificant.

He ended up picking out a pair of red heels to wear.

Freaky

Max was distraught when the Great Shift struck and he wound up in the body of a nerdy Asian girl, who sat in the front row of his college statistics class. Without a word, he slipped out back to her off-campus housing, not wanting to be around people. She luckily lived alone, so he knew he wouldn’t be disturbed. He quickly became surprised as he dug through her closets. The oversized sweaters and ill-fitting jeans that he often seen her wear were there, sure, but there was also a wide array of leather dresses, corsets, and freaky stuff like handcuffs and whips. He knew he had to try some of it on, and when took off her glasses and looked in the mirror, he was surprised that the nerdy Asian girl he now was appeared to be quite hot and more than a little bit freaky.
