Once

“What the hell did you do?” Jared scowled as he looked over to Gabriel and Jennifer. “That was supposed to be my body!”

“Dude!” Gabriel exclaimed from inside Jennifer’s body, “I caught wind of your whole ‘body swapping’ invention, and then Jennifer went missing. I pieced it all together, and saw her in this chair. I was trying to get her out at first. When that wasn’t an option, I grabbed that thing off of your head and put it on my own. I figured it was better me in here than you. Who knows what sort of weird or gross things you were going to do with her body! But you can switch us back and let her go.”

“I can’t!”

“What do you mean you can’t? Just fire up the machine again.”

“It only works once per person. Jennifer’s body should have been mine, but it’s yours now! I hope your happy with it. Now I’ll have to find some other babe to switch with.”

“You can’t just take someone’s body! I’ll stop you.”

“How? You’ve already thrown yourself on your sword once here; it won’t work for you a second time.”

Radioactive

After accidental exposure to nuclear materials, Wesley’s body began changing. It started with rapid weight loss and losing a significant amount of body hair. As doctors and scientists examined him and treated him for any radiation exposure, they noticed his body continuing to change. There was a strange swelling of his chest and his genitals were clearly shrinking. Within a few hours, they realized Wesley had become a woman by all observable metrics.It was like nothing they had ever seen before, and the condition was made even stranger by the fact that there seemed to be nothing else wrong. It was as if Wesley hadn’t been exposed to radioactive materials at all.

Within a few hours, Wesley was back up on his feet and walking around as if nothing was wrong -- nothing except his new gender, that is. The doctors wanted to examine him further, but he asked for a few minutes of fresh air first. Stepping outside, he felt a rush of something he had never felt before. It wasn’t just an adjustment due to his new gender, however. It was more than that -- it was like a power inside that he could feel manifesting. He focused it on his hand, and it began to glow. It felt like he could shoot fire from his fingertips. But instead of testing that theory, he calmed himself, knowing the scientists inside were already prodding him based on what they could see. If he manifested superpowers, they’d never let him leave! So he calmed the power, his hand stopped glowing, and he returned inside.

One Hell of a Performance

Adam’s latest invention had completely malfunctioning, causing him to swap bodies with Cho, a ballet dancer in a nearby studio. She was obviously furious, but he promised to do everything possible to make things right. That meant tackling things on two fronts.

The first was not only keeping up with Cho’s ballet for an upcoming performance, but doing extra training on the side in order to not look like a fool during practice.

The second was obviously fixing his invention to try to swap back to normal as soon as possible. What made this especially challenging was the intensity and amount of ballet practice Adam had to do.

The night of Cho’s big performance arrived before Adam knew it. He desperately wanted to finish before the curtain rose; it was an hour away, and he was so close to fixing this. He was dressed and ready to go just in case he didn’t finish in time. With moments to spare he was ready. But Cho stopped him, telling him they couldn’t swap back yet. After all, Adam had been the one practicing and preparing for the performance all this time now. He was ready for it; she certainly wasn’t. Adam tried to protest, but Cho laid into him with a guilt trip about the initial accident. Finally, he nodded. Tonight, he would give one hell of a ballet performance; they could always swap back in the morning.

Waiting on the Porch

Rick rang the doorbell and waited, but Jia didn’t answer. He knocked and shouted her name, but she still didn’t come to the door. It didn’t make any sense! He had only taken a few hours to repair his machine that had earlier swapped his body into hers. It was a pure accident when he first activated the device. And it only happened due to an increased amount of power and the proximity of her condo to his. She had seemed very upset about the whole thing, so it made no sense for her to shut him out like this. Maybe she was just trying to make him worry, but he had been waiting a long time out here, quite ready to use the device again...

Fifth Floor

It was the fifth time today that Eric had sludged down to the basement apartment in the building where he lived. “Did you fix the damn thing yet?” Eric grunted at the petite blond woman feverishly working over a pile of circuits and wires.

“You’ll be the first to know, and I’m sorry again! So sorry!”

Eric scowled. Inside that woman’s body was the crazy old man who caused all this three days ago. He had tested some weird invention that swapped the bodies of everyone in the building. The old man lucked out by swapping with Carol, who lived on the third floor and worked as a marketer. Eric wished he would’ve swapped with her, or maybe with Brad, a guy who was a trainer at the gym and lived on six.

But, no, he swapped with Mrs. Neuman, who live on the fifth floor. She was two decades older than he had been (in her 40s) and overweight. It felt really different to move in a body like this, and he had been stuck like this for three days! He was getting pretty impatient with that old guy in the basement. He didn’t want to stay like this a minute longer!

Meeting with HR

I sat down across from the head researcher, and I gave him the sternest look I could muster. I took a deep breath before I asked, “Dr. Wallace, as you know, I am head of HR here at the company. We need to know exactly what happened yesterday.”

Dr. Wallace explained, “As I’m sure you’re aware, our company deals in youth. We sell billions of dollars in cosmetics each year that help people look young. I was bought on to further that agenda by helping people literally stay young by switching their brains into younger bodies. We had two test subjects ready to go, but my device was too powerful. It effectively swapped the bodies of everyone in the building.”

“So you are claiming it was all a work-related accident? I think we can overlook and consequences provided you can get all staff back to their own bodies within a month.”

“Mr. Weber! My work cannot be rushed! It will take as long as it takes to get everyone back to normal! If you are threatening me with termination unless I work quickly, well I assure you that if I am not the one in charge, everyone will be hopelessly trapped in the wrong body forever. So unless you wish to continue wearing a bra and sitting down to use the bathroom for the rest of your life, I suggest you give me all the time I need to safely reverse the effect of my work.”

Electrical Storm

The freakish electrical storm seemed to come out of nowhere. The pilot hadn’t even seen it on his radar before the plane was flying right through it. The turbulence was probably the wildest any of the passengers had ever experienced, and just when it seemed to be over the lights flickered and about half of the people on the plane ended up switching bodies. The pilot made an emergency landing on the closest airstrip.

When Nathan exited the plane, he was doing so as a new person, quite literally. In one of the more dramatic swaps, he ended up as a different gender in the body of a woman on board named Deborah. He knew it was going to be hard to adjust, but for now he was just thankful to be alive. He realized it would’ve been quite easy for one or both of the pilots to have ended up swapping bodies, which might’ve resulted in a crash. He’d just have to figure out how to deal with this.

What's Wrong?

“What’s wrong? Are you scared?” Mike asked Jacob, clearing seeing his concern.

“I’m not scared exactly,” Jacob said, “I was in my second year of college; I think I can handle senior year of high school as an 18-year-old woman easily enough. I just feel guilty. After that car accident, I couldn’t believe they saved my life by putting y brain inside Kylie’s body -- I’m my own sister! I know she was braindead, but it’s hard to see myself in the mirror and realize she’d gone! I guess I feel guilty.”

“I miss her too, of course. But at least we’re going through this together. That accident wasn’t easy on any of us.”

“I know, Dad. I know it’s probably hard for you too, being in he body of Kylie’s best friend. It is good to know you’re here.”

“I always will be, Jacob. I always will be.”

Fried

An enraged Sarah followed Max out on to the street. Max simply turned around with a rather blank expression on his face.

“I’m sorry,” He said, “I do understand your frustration, but there is very little I can do at the present time. I know you signed up to be apart of this body swap experiment and expected to be back to normal before its conclusion today. However, due to the malfunction when we attempted to swap back, we will be stuck as each other for the foreseeable future. I have ordered the replacement parts, but I am completely unable to make repairs until they arrive.”

Sarah wanted to scream more at Max, but she knew there was little he could actually do. She saw the fried equipment; she knew she was just going to have to wait. But there was just something so maddening about having a nerdy guy like Max stuck in her beautiful body while she was stuck trapped in his...

At the store, Ron picked out a sleveless top and a short skirt. He decided it was cute but not slutty; perfect for the club he hit up next. He ordered a drink and pulled out Maddie’s purse. But the bartender insisted that the drink had already been paid for, then he pointed to some guys. Ron didn’t even glance; he was just feeling pretty good about getting a free drink. A few more later, and he was moving on the dance floor. He was sure this was the best night out that Maddie’s body had ever had; heck, he was starting to think this might be the best night he had ever had! He ended up staying out until 4am and was very drunk. After stumbling home, the alarm blaring in the morning was easily ignored. By the time he made his way into work, it was nearly noon. Maddie, in his body, was furious. Being late meant that they missed the swap back. They’d be stuck like this for another week now. Despite a pounding headache and a nasty hangover, Ron decided he was okay with that.

Fun

It all still seemed pretty crazy. After an accident at work, Ron swapped bodies with Maddie, one of the accountants at the company. Any time Ron thought he had imagined the whole thing, he just looked in a mirror to remind himself. They weren’t the only ones affected, and the company promised to get everyone back to normal the next morning. Thankfully, that meant he only had one night trapped in her body. She seemed like such a prude with the way she dressed and her attitude. Then again, with him in control of her body for the night, she didn’t have to be. He had to admit that she was quite attractive. He would just have to show off her wild side by hitting up some clubs this evening. He might have to hit up a mall first. He wasn’t sure he could go wild wearing this frilly blouse or lame sweater. He was sure that ‘Maddie’ was going to have more fun tonight than she ever had in her life combined, she just would never know about it...

Loss for words

Edward ran into his house after returning from school and entered his father’s study. He was surprised to see a woman standing there. The woman spoke with a husky voice that Edward immediately recognized.

“Dad?” Edward asked.

“Yes, Ed, it’s me.” His dad’s husky voice coming from the woman still seemed odd to Edward, “There was a strange accident at work today. For the next several days, I will be stuck in this body. I’ll also be working from home and mostly staying inside until this can all be reversed.”

Edward was at a loss for words.

Rich was getting pretty excited looking through Ashley’s closet. He couldn’t wait to try some of this stuff on! Ashley’s body was just so attractive, and that body was going to be his for the time being! He lifted up a leather print jacket. Ashley’s body would look so cute in this; he’d look so cute in this! He couldn’t believe he was getting all excited about this stuff! He would’ve never gotten so excited about clothes back when he was a man. Maybe it was something about being in Ashley’s body...

Set phasers to stunning

Lyonel loved watching sci-fi television, everything from Star Trek to Star Wars to Doctor Who and beyond. He just wished he could make the things from the show a little more science reality instead of  science fiction. He ultimately decided to try and build one of his favorite devices from one of his favorite show, a transporter. It took a lot of research into existing technologies and how to adapt them, but he managed to make something he was sure would work.. He wanted to test it out to great fanfare, so he planned to teleport  himself into the middle of a sci-fi convention. He must have gotten his calculations wrong. He looked around to find that he wasn’t at the convention and even his body got all screwed up in the teleport: he was now a woman! After feeling like a failure for quite some time, he was finally able to laugh. In a way, his invention was just like the TV show, so prone to failures. Plus, with a body like this, he’d be sure to turn heads at the sci-fi convention even without a perfectly successful transporter.

Science and engineering (Part 1)

Rich had heard a noise coming from the basement of the university’s science and engineering building. He went down to discover Ashley Juarez playing with some of the items in storage. Rich had heard Ashley had been slipping in her studies and figured that whatever she was doing down here simply wasn’t good. He noticed her holding a device, thinking she was stealing it, he lunged at her to try and wrestle it from her hands. The device fell to the ground and shattered, and as it did so it shot out a beam that hit Rich and Ashley. The next thing Rich knew, he was lying on the floor being scolded by his own body. He watched as his own body picked up the device and continued yelling, saying that it would be weeks before it could be repaired. His own body sighed saying that until then, they’d have to live the other’s life. Rich had no idea what was going on until he looked down to discover that he was inside of Ashley’s body! Was she smarter than she let on? Could she have invented a body switching device? It was hard to debate what was clearly right in front of him. He listened intently as Ashley explained what he’d have to do to pull off being her. He still couldn’t believe it all as he walked into her house and into her room. He went into her closet to take off the coat he wore. A sudden feeling of excitement ran over him as it all sunk in. This was his life for the next few weeks, these were his clothes to try on! He was getting excited thinking about the upside of this swap!

Ignorance is bliss

Danny hated when his sister would practice her guitar. It was loud and rattled the whole house. He tried to ignore it by playing an RPG game on his computer. But a strange surge of electricity, and the nerdy boy now found himself in the basement in the body of his punk sister. At the same time, she now found herself in front of the computer in her dorky brother’s body. Neither was happy about the swap.

Supercollider

Dr. Henry Franks had been teaching at the University for four decades, but he had never expected anything like this to happen! An accident with an experimental supercollider in the physics department caused people all over campus to swap bodies. Henry had found himself in the body of one of his students, a sophomore by the name of Grace Ericson. He sat on the quad wondering what sort of impact this might have on his career...or is marriage!

Enjoy it

"Bye, Brenda!" Philip shouted back to his old body after the two had accidentally swapped. Brenda was already having her doubts about how accidental the swap truly was. Philip just seemed too happy, too confident in her body. It didn't seem right. Shouldn't a typical straight male be a little more freaked out to be in a woman's body? Truth be told, Philip wasn't freaking out because being in a woman's body had always been a secret dream of his, something he never told anyone. It may have been an accident, but that doesn't mean he wasn't going to enjoy it!

Roger's plan for the next day to avoid his sister's questioning was a bit more difficult. He arrived home late, so that she was asleep, and then the next morning he left at the crack of dawn...once again to the beach. It was a brilliant plan: asleep after she went to bed and awake before she got up. Too bad Roger would soon be too tired to enjoy the day.

Roger didn't take the chance of running into his sister again; he went straight from the beach to a club, where he was ready to get down in his sister's body. He couldn't believe that she was never into this sort of thing, especially with how drop-dead gorgeous she was! But her body was his now, and he was going to take advantegous of that beauty to its fullest--enjoying it every step of the way.
