Nursed

Calvin hadn’t expected to look over and see his former body standing there. He forced an awkward smile as he looked at the man he once was -- tired, withered, frail. It was holding itself up by gripping onto the side of the desk, and it tried to speak but nothing came out.

“I’m sorry,” Calvin said. “I didn’t ask for this. It just happened.”.

Though he hadn’t been the least bit upset about swapping into the nurse’s body, it was only now just dawning on him that meant she probably swapped into his. Perhaps he just figured her soul vanished somewhere into the ether or that she would’ve perished quickly in his body. Yet her she was now standing before him -- as if waiting for reasons that Calvin just didn’t have..

“I can try to make your last moments comfortable,” He added, “If that’s any consolation. Though I suppose that was technically your job anyway -- or my job now.”

Nature's Way

“I know...I know what you did to that poor woman,” Norman wheezed as he sat up in his hospital bed upon seeing the nurse enter, “You thought I was asleep when the nurse came in last night, but I saw you. With whatever evil Satanic stuff you pulled, you swapped into her body. You left her to die in your body. It’s not right. We’re old men, or at least we were. It’s nature’s way to one day pass, but you cheated it all and stole that young woman’s life.”

Marvin scowled in response, but quickly put on a happy face. No matter how right Norman was, he couldn’t actually admit it. “Come on now, Mr. Lewis, it sounds like you are hallucinating. I might advise the doctor to increase your meds, and you share the same wild stores with him, he probably will,” Marvin responded, “I know you don’t have many days left, but I can imagine they will be very unpleasant ones if you threaten your nurses.”

“I’m not threatening anyone...”

“It sure sounded like one to me. But don’t worry, I am committed to making your last days here as comfortable as possible no matter how brief they might be...”

The Virus: Patient Zero (Part 1)

Dedicated to those struggling and suffering in the world right now.

Nick was always an adventurer, traveling to distant places to hike, climb, and camp. On a recent trip, he explored the rainforest and was convinced he had seen things no human had before him. He was, in fact, right; however, in addition to the sights, he also contracted a virus never before known to humanity. For the first month of infection, it showed absolutely no symptoms; Nick was simply a carrier passing it on to others.

It wasn’t until he became violently ill from the virus that he became concerned. He called 911 and was rushed to his local hospital. The doctors and nurses couldn’t figure out what was wrong with him. Nick soon fell into a coma.

But a moment later, he was awake, but not in a way anyone could’ve ever predicted. The virus had infected a nurse, allowing the most truly dramatic advanced symptom to take hold, resulting in Nick swapping bodies with her. As he walked the halls, he wondered if he should tell the doctors. Would they even believe him? What sort of virus was this anyhow?

Nursed (Part 2)

The daily shifts ended, and Dr. Klein and Anna still hadn’t swapped back to their own bodies. This meant Dr. Klein would be going home to Anna’s apartment instead of his home in the suburbs. He hoped Anna could fool his wife and children as well as she fooled his patients today. As much as he loved them though, he decided a break for a night might not be bad. He could live Anna’s single life and go out on the town -- even if that meant going out as a woman.

As he got ready, he admired how attractive Anna’s body was. It was something he had never paid much attention to before looking at his own reflection in her phone. Maybe he’d have more fun than he originally anticipated. Heck, maybe by tomorrow he wouldn’t want to swap back at all!

Nursed

Dr. Klein was having a hard time believing what had just happened to him, yet instead of operating on patients he was now sitting behind a desk at the nursing station after swapping bodies with Anna, one of his nurses. He was nervous about handling her responsibilities. After all, with all his years of experience as a doctor, being a nurse should be no problem. On the flip side, he was very concerned about Anna in his body being able to deal with his responsibilities. However, any time he tried to bring up his concerns with her, she shot him down and treated him like a subordinate. He knew this was how some of the doctors at the hospital treated the nurses, but he sure hope he had never acted like that! Still, it was a little jarring for him to see Anna embrace that aspect of the doctor-nurse relationship so quickly. He hoped they would find a way to swap back soon...

Flatlined

Despite being unable to move after his car accident, Martin remained extremely lucid. He could remember police and paramedics arriving; he could remember being brought into the hospital. He watched the doctors and nurses as they tried to save his life, but then he flatlined. He thought that would be the end -- he’s either go to an afterlife or things would go dark -- but instead he was still in the room, quite aware of his surroundings.

“Nurse, please, I need a respirator,” A doctor said, “Nurse! Now!”

It took Martin a moment to realize the doctor was talking to him! Martin had somehow possessed one of the female nurses! If the doctors saved his body, would he go back. He wasn’t sure how he was going to help without the proper nursing training. He just grabbed the closest thing, placed it on his own body, and hoped it was correct!

Organ donor (Part 2)

After taking some time to explore his new body, Ben had to admit that if he had to be the victim of a botched sugury, it could've been way worse than this. Plus, the settlement from his lawsuit with the hospital would mean that he would never have to work another day in his life...well, that is, if he chose to. Ben instinctly felt the need to go back to school--but unlike the body's original owner, he decided to go to med school to become a doctor (heck, he could afford it). It was something that he never had the desire to do, but maybe there was just something instinctive in this woman's body pushing him in that direction. Maybe the body's instincts are simply stronger than the mind gives them credit for...I mean, after all, he had been uncomfortable with his new body at first, but it wasn't long before he got used to it...very used to it...

Organ donor

Ben was nervous about going to the hospital to donate a kidney. He had heard all sorts of horror stories about doctor's screwing up by performing the wrong operation or removing the wrong body part, but he knew donating an organ was the right thing to do. He never expected them to screw up like this! Instead of taking out his kidney in a routine procedure, the doctor's messed his paper work up and removed his brain for an experimental one! When he awoke, he was shocked to find himself in the body of one of the hospital's nurses, who had donated her body to science shortly before going braindead. It wouldn't have been so bad if the body they put his brain into was at least male! he wasn't sure how he'd cope with his new life as a woman! surgury

Not dead yet

Lance was moments away from dying in the hospital when the Great Shift struck, swapping into the body of one of the nurses on duty. It wasn't long before many people came up to him in a panic, demanding to know why they were all of a sudden in a new body. He kept trying to explain that this wasn't his body either, that he was swapped like everyone else, but few let him get a word in. It was tough, but he managed to slip away into a room by himself and sit down on the bed. He wasn't sure how to deal with being a young woman, but it was certainly better than dying of old age.
