Calvin hadn’t expected to look over and see his former body standing there. He forced an awkward smile as he looked at the man he once was -- tired, withered, frail. It was holding itself up by gripping onto the side of the desk, and it tried to speak but nothing came out.
“I’m sorry,” Calvin said. “I didn’t ask for this. It just happened.”.
Though he hadn’t been the least bit upset about swapping into the nurse’s body, it was only now just dawning on him that meant she probably swapped into his. Perhaps he just figured her soul vanished somewhere into the ether or that she would’ve perished quickly in his body. Yet her she was now standing before him -- as if waiting for reasons that Calvin just didn’t have..
“I can try to make your last moments comfortable,” He added, “If that’s any consolation. Though I suppose that was technically your job anyway -- or my job now.”
