It felt cliché that she was asking to meet me at a coffee shop -- and perhaps even more cliché that she seemed to be running late. I had ordered my drink and was halfway done by the time she arrived.
“You look good,” She said as she eyed me up and down.
“I put on a few pounds,” I confessed, “I don’t think I ever fully got used to the metabolism of your body after the Shift.”
“You can probably guess why I wanted to talk.”
I was silent. I did. There were media reports that someone had finally discovered a way to do body swaps that could reverse the effects of the Great Shift. People could get their original bodies back...if they agreed to it.
I looked down to my coffee feeling guilty as I finally confessed, “I think I enjoy being a woman too much. I’m sorry.”
“Oh,” She replied from my former male body. She looked disappointed. I didn’t blame her.
