Flight

It was fortunate when the Great Shift hit that neither pilot on the plane Simon was flying in was affected. To them, it was nothing more than a brief flash in their eyes. But for Simon and the rest of the passengers, it was pure body swapping chaos. After about thirty minutes of panic, everyone began to realize there was little they could do.

Like all the other passengers, Simon went back to his seat. The pantyhose on his legs felt really strange, but it was even odder to see his own body walking the aisles handing drinks out once beverage service resume.

He couldn’t believe that he swapped bodies with one of the stewardesses, but he was trying to take it as calmly as he could. He just hoped everyone else would continue to do the same...at least until they landed.

Bad Deal

Jared burst out in laughter when Victoria approached him and asked if they could swap bodies back. They had swapped bodies a year ago upon her request, and in that time Jared had gotten quite comfortable with her body, now basically seeing it as his own.

He had known it was a bad deal for her from the start. She was having a hard time with her first year of college. She just wanted to be older, so she did a bit of research to find the body swapping spell, then she asked her uncle, Jared. He couldn’t figure out why she wanted to swap with him. He was twenty years older and stuck in a dead end job. He knew that college would offer a lot of possibilities, but it meant being a woman; it meant beign Victoria. In the end, he determined the trade off was worthwhile and agreed.

Now it seemed Victoria was having a bit of buyer’s remorse. She had thought being in the work force would be better than attending classes; she was wrong. Jared told her that he tried to warn her, a secure job wasn’t the same thing as a good job, and being older wasn’t all that great either. She hadn’t listened.

The spell required both parties agree to the swap. Jared laughed again. He would never agree to go back to his old life. He loved being Victoria, and he loved the world of possibility open before him.

Sit

It had been two months since Dave swapped bodies with Mei. For the most part, he felt like he had done pretty well with being a woman. He embraced makeup and feminine clothing, for instance, but from time to time, he’d do something that would show he was still a dude at heart. It was usually something about the way he moved. Today it was the way he was sitting.

He had just plopped down and spread his legs wide. It was a bit like second nature to him. It took a few people gasping and making rude comments toward him before he finally noticed. He tried not to let it bother him. It wasn’t the first time he had done this. At least he was wearing pants today; the last time he had been wearing that very short miniskirt. Now that was REALLY embarrassing.

Coffee

Nick wasn’t sure how he was able to possess other people, and he was still perfecting his ability. After the possession, he felt quite terrible; it was a little like being hung over. Each time it would be a little shorter, but it still lasted several hours. Then he also couldn’t seem to get back to his own body or possess someone else for a few days, which wouldn’t be a biggest problem except for the fact that he didn’t have the most control over who he was going to possess. If he aimed for one person, he might easily end up in the body of someone as far as fifty feet away. That’s how he found himself in the body of Mrs. Crane instead of Mr. Crane that morning. In a way, he was improving. She was only inches from him when Nick decided to possess him. Still, the awful hangover feeling coupled with his first time possessing a woman was particularly hard for him. Nick excused himself and headed to a cafe for some coffee. It was all so strange, but he knew he was going to have to deal with it for a few days.

Can't Thank You Enough

“I still can’t thank you enough for letting me borrow this,” Martin said as he handed back a small medallion quite careful to only both touch the change as they made the exchange, “But now that I know what it can do, I’m guessing you aren’t really my sister.”

“Nope. I used this about a week ago to steal Cathy’s body. She’s, of course, stuck in my body. I’m sure you can’t object too much. It’d be pretty hypocritical of you considering the body you stole. Plus, now that you’ve got that body, this body isn’t really your sister’s anymore either.”

“I guess I got to ask, who are you...really?”

“Well, that’s my secret. I hope you don’t mind. And I hope you’re quite happy with the body you picked. I plan on destroying this medallion as soon as possible. I was going to do it shortly after swapping with your sister, but then I saw you so miserable. I knew I had to help.”

“I can’t thank you enough...”

Hot Spot

Exchange Island sure had changed from the last time Carl had visited. Over the course of a year, it seems that the odd vacation spot started to attract a lot more hipsters and young people. Despite the fact that it made the beach a lot more crowded, Carl couldn’t complain, because it simply meant that his odds of getting a fantastic youthful body were that much better. Sure enough, after checking in, he swapped bodies with a young Asian woman on the beach where a lot of people were riding bikes.

It was more than enough to make Carl smile. He loved coming to the island and finding himself as a 20-something again; he even more enjoyed being a woman this time around. The one thing he was a little less sure of was the fashion that some of these young people wore. The top didn’t exactly seem like something he could go swimming in, but the bikini bottoms certainly did. Then there were the boots; they weren’t exactly great for walking on the sand. He hoped that he was able to find something a bit less crazy in this young woman’s suitcase. Then again, there were also a few shops on the island, just in case people found themselves with a wardrobe that they simply found to be unwearable. He hoped it wouldn’t come to that, but if this first outfit was any indication...

Merry Christmas

Not even The North Pole was immune from the effects of the Great Shift. While it only happened a few days before the holidays, Santa Claus was determined not to let the Shift ruin the Christmas season. He quickly returned to his workshop as soon as possible. He convinced his elves of his true identity by rattling off the first hundred or so names on the “nice” list. Then he had Mrs. Claus get to work on altering his suit. After all, he was much shorter now and probably about a third his former weight. He was surprised when she returned with a dress that she had sewn him, but he had to admit that it now seemed more than appropriate for his new body.

By Christmas Eve, everything was on schedule. It would probably be an odd sight, to see a petite Asian woman riding on the sled instead of a plump, jolly, old man, but Santa knew it wouldn’t be a problem. He knew that no one would actually see him that night; no one ever actually saw him. He could keep up the legend. No one would ever have to know that Santa, along with the rest of the world, had been swapped by the Great Shift.

Keyhole

Olivia looked through the keyhole to see what Eric was going to do with her body. So far, he hadn’t done anything; he just sat there, looking worried. She was sure he’d be freaking out or something. After all, she had stolen his body, which left him in hers. She had expected him to be in a panic or perhaps even violent, which is why she locked herself up in the room before casting the spell that swapped their bodies. She thought about going into the room to explain to him why she did it; he looked calm enough. But there was no guarantee that he’d stay calm. In the end, she simply quietly unlocked the door and walked away as Eric still sat on the bed contemplated how he possibly swapped bodies with Olivia in the first place.

In the Kitchen

It was weird for Lance to suddenly find himself in a fancy kitchen. Stranger still, he was in the body of a woman with a leather dress and high heel shoes. Was this her house? Was he expected to be making breakfast or something? He breathed a sigh of relief when a stout, slightly older, Latina woman walked int he door.

“Oh, thank God,” He said as he put his hands on his hips, “A maid. I was worried I was going to have to do some sort of women’s work.”

“Maid? Women’s work?” The woman questioned, “Maybe if you turned on a TV or something, you might’ve heard about the Great Shift. You swapped into my body. I swapped into this body. She’s not a maid. I don’t even have a maid! But what? Because you saw a Hispanic woman, you thought she was a maid? And women’s work? No, I don’t sit around in the kitchen making sandwiches for my husband all day simply because I’m a woman. He can make his own damn sandwiches. But, if you must know, my husband does expect some womanly pleasure from me each night. You just better hope that whatever new body he got from the Shift isn’t interested in tha now. Or you can hope that he just might not be interested in my body due to the fact that it is you inside, but I’d still prepare yourself.”

Runaway Bride

It was just a quick flash of light, but Charlie found that in that instant he went from sitting at home to standing in front of a crowd. It only took a few more minutes for him to realize he was in a woman’s body, wearing a fancy dress, standing next to a man in a suit. The building he was in was a church and there was a pastor. It didn’t take him long to piece together that he was suddenly in the body of a bride about to be wed.

Charlie knew he wanted to no part of this. He walked out without speaking a single word.

As he walked the streets, he soon discovered that he wasn’t the only one who had swapped bodies. In fact, just about everyone he encountered was talking about being swapped. It wasn’t much comfort, but at least it meant the wedding attendees didn’t question his sudden running off.

He wasn’t sure what he was going to do now, however. He was in a strange body with nothing except for the clothes on his back, which weren’t exactly the most comfortable, as they were meant for a formal setting and not for running about town.

Laundry (Part 4)

Neil returned upstairs to an unfamiliar room, Sara’s room. He was going to have to get used to that name, Sara. He was going to have to answer to it for a while. And he was going to have to go to her classes. Luckily, since it was still early in the year, there probably wouldn’t be any quizzes. He wasn’t sure how well he’d do in Sara’s subjects.

He was expecting all sorts of unique experiences when he went to college, but he never expected being a woman was going to be one of them! Yet here he was, just a few days after starting, and he was in a woman’s body. It still felt strange.

Sara had given him a fairly in depth run down, but he had a feeling much of the nuance of being a woman just couldn’t be explained in a lecture. And what if he ended up liking being a woman? What if he didn’t want to go back? He tried to push that thought out of his head. Of course he would want to go back. But that meant his time was limited. Which meant that he should probably do all kinds of things that he’d never get the opportunity to do again. He looked down at his body once more. Might as well get started...

“For that matter, I don’t know how to walk in heels either,” Neil said.

“You’re going to have to learn. We’re going to have to pretend to be each other until we can figure out how to fix this. I have some friends majoring in things like engineering and biology that may be able to help us out.”

“I hope so. I’m really not sure if I can deal with being a girl.”

“For starters, you can stop calling yourself a ‘girl.’ I am a 19-year-old woman, thank you. Well, you are now, I guess, for the time being.”

“Yeah, I guess,” Neil replied as he lifted himself up and teetered on the heels, “This is going to take some getting used to.”

“I suppose I’ll give you a few tips. I can’t have my body going around looking stupid.”

Laundry (Part 2)

Neil pulled himself to a seated position, still feeling like he was recovering from the shock and also still feeling like there was something very strange about his body. Then he saw the figure looming over him. He recognized the face and the body. How could he not? It was what had looked back at him from the mirror for the past 18 years. But if his body was standing there, then whose body did he have?

He looked down with fear. The shiny pants, the shirt, the breasts -- they too looked familiar. Neil realized he now had the body of the Asian woman that he asked to help with his laundry.

He saw his own body look down on him and smirk.

“How about now YOU do MY laundry.” She said.

“I still don’t know how. Just because I have a girl’s body doesn’t mean I know how.”

“And just because I had a girl’s body before, what made you think that I knew how to do laundry?”

Laundry (Part 1)

About a week after starting college, Neil realized he had a pretty big problem; he had no idea how to do laundry. His mom had always done it for him growing up. She tried to teach him before he left for school, but he just hadn’t paid close enough attention. Heading down to the laundry room of his dorm for the first time, he looked around for some help. He shyly approached a female Asian student. She glared back at him with a sneer, angrily suggesting he picked her to ask simply because she was female. As she yelled, a drier started sparking without either of them seeing. The sparks hit each of them, knocking them both out. Neil awoke a few moments later feeling strange. There was something that was really off...

Cruise

The cruise took a few stops on the two week voyage, but without a doubt the most interesting was the two days spent on Exchange Island. As the ship entered the waters, each of the passengers swapped bodies with someone else. Sure enough, Ryan had been below deck, but suddenly found himself sunbathing by the ship’s pool. And, of course, he had a new body, a woman’s body. It was a feeling like nothing he had ever experienced before. He was sort of regretting that they’d only be in the waters around Exchange Island for two days. If only they were sticking around just a little bit longer. He couldn’t dwell on it too much; he just had to enjoy the next 48 hours as much as he could.

Nose Picking

“Nose picking is just the beginning, Sarah, it’s just the beginning,” Warned Connor, “If you don’t figure out a way to reverse this body swap, I will find so many ways to humiliate you. I can make your life so much worse.”

“I don’t think you’ve thought this through,” Sarah retorted, “The more you try to embarrass me, the less desire I will have to return to the life of mine that you ruined. So take that finger out of my nose or else you might be the one who had to ultimately deal with all the consequences of doing humiliating things to my body.”

Connor slowly removed the finger, “Okay, I get it, but you better hurry up. I don’t want to be stuck in your body for a second longer than I have to.”

“I’m working as fast as I can, and let me promise you that I don’t like being stuck in your body either.”

Business Trip

Hank texted his wife to tel her that he landed safely. She asked him to send her a selfie of himself in the hotel room. Hank really didn’t know how to reply. He really didn’t know how to tell her that having a business trip on Exchange Island was a rather unique experience. How would he ever explain that when he landed he swapped bodies with another visitor to the island, in this case an Asian woman in her mid-20s. He thought about trying to locate his own body, take the picture, and send that to his wife. Then he’d technically be lying to her, wouldn’t he? Then again, it was also beyond weird that his company scheduled a business trip to Exchange Island in the first place. Ultimately, he just quickly shot a photo of the room without in the picture, he hoped it would be enough for her to not ask for more...

Statistically

Statistically, it seemed pretty unlikely. This was now Marco’s third time visiting Exchange Island, and the third time he found himself in the body of a beautiful woman for the week. In fact, when he had spoken to all his friends, they too had been beautiful women whenever they visited. All things being equal, shouldn’t they all be swapping with other men about 50% of the time? Shouldn’t they sometimes find themselves in an elderly body or at least an ugly body? Not that he was complaining, because he could relive this experience over and over again; it’s just that he really couldn’t fully relax or forget about his job as a math teacher while he was here -- no matter what body he was in...

Fess Up

Anne returned home to find a strange woman sitting on the floor of her living room. She scowled at the woman, who backed away slowly. Anne stared right into the woman’s eyes. “I’ll deal with your slutty ass later,” She said, “But you need to tell me where my cheating husband is.”

“I’m not sleeping with your husband,” The woman replied with a slight guilty smile creeping across her face, “I AM your husband. I used this weird medallion that can transform bodies. I’m stuck in this body for the next three hours. I didn’t expect you to come home so soon. I thought about hiding for that time, but I figured it was just better to confess everything. I know it’s unbelievable, but I’ll sit with you right here for the next few hours and when it’s time, I’ll use the medallion again. Then you’ll see me transform back into myself, and you’ll know I am telling the truth here.”

It took a little bit more trial and error for Jason to settle on a style that he was okay with. A style that was hip and feminine, but still comfortable. It wasn’t wild like Miyoko’s, but it was still unique. He had kept in touch with her, but he never asked for fashion advice; preferring to figure it out on his own. But in that time, the conversation turned into something more; they developed a relationship. It was weird dating his own body, but it felt a lot less weird than the thought of dating some other random guy. Now he was just waiting here for her to pick him up for their date. He was hoping she would ask to marry him soon; maybe tonight. Then again, wasn’t he still technically the man? Maybe he should ask her? The expensive sports car pulled up and Jason got in. He wondered where she’d take him tonight.

It was a few months later when Jason ran into Miyoko again. She laughed out loud when she saw him.

“Coveralls?” She asked between giggles.

“I thought they were cool. I mean, they’re leather. That’s hip, right?” Jason asked.

Miyoko shrugged, “What do I care anymore? It’s your life now, I suppose. I could give you a few fashion pointers if you like.”

“Speaking of pointers, are you doing okay at my job?”

“I quit.”

“You what?!” Jason screamed.

“Yeah, I mean, it wasn’t a hard job. I made a few smart investments. I don’t need to worry about money anymore. Thanks to what I did, I have more than enough. How about you? You find a job?”

“No. I’m still mooching off your parents for the time being...”

Yeah, sure, Jason ended up picking a dress, but at least it was’t nearly as loud as most of Miyoko’s other outfits. A cold front also had come in overnight, so he ended up wearing one of her coats when he went out on Sunday. He just kept telling himself it was only for a day; it was only while he went out shopping. He wanted pants; he wanted something more normal. More than anything, he hoped he’d be able to swap back to his own body at some point. Of course, he still had no idea how he swapped with Miyoko in the first place, and he had no idea how he was going to swap back.

Jason dug a little deeper and found a pair of pants...well, sort of. It actually seemed to be a full bodysuit. If he thought the last thing was colorful, this was one was colorful AND busy. It was comfortable fitting, but when he looked in the mirror, the reflection seemed crazy. He couldn’t go out like this, could he? No, he’d probably have to try again.

But still outfit after outfit and none of them felt quite right to be seen in. Of course, her closet was pretty big. He still had a lot to go through. He was convinced that there had to be SOMETHING in here. That’s when he saw it in the back. He wasn’t going to like it, but it was going to be reasonable. Like the leather skirt she had been wearing when they swapped.

After getting the full rundown, Jason went to Miyoko’s apartment in order to try to adjust as best he could to the fact that he now had her body, which meant he’d have to live her life. Based on her talk about things like Reiki, there was nothing about her place that surprised him. It was filled with a bunch of new age mystic Asian stuff. Then there was the closet. The t-shirt and leather skirt that he had been wearing was normal enough, but the stuff in the closet was downright weird. He couldn’t resist the urge to try on a few things. Picking out an outfit that was very colorful, he looked at himself in the mirror. He couldn’t imagine wearing this sort of thing outside. In fact, he was pretty sure he couldn’t actually use much of the clothes in the closet. He’d probably have to go out and buy some other things that he’d feel a bit more comfortable in. Of course, that meant finding something to wear to the store tomorrow...

Hipster (Part 1)

Without a care in the world, Jason wandered down the street on the sunny Saturday. His up-and-coming neighborhood was filled with hipster parents, recent graduates who were working in the finance industry like him, and plenty of weirdos. He spied a blond woman in a short dress and did a double take to check out her ass. In that moment, he wasn’t looking where he was going and he ran into someone else. The bump must’ve done something extremely weird, as he was shocked to learn that it somehow caused him to swap bodies with the person he had run into, a weird Asian woman with dyed tips and a leather skirt. As he examined his new long hair, his jaw dropped in shock.

The woman he swapped with seemed to be very calm about the whole thing. She began to surmise about Reiki, the life force, and other hippie-esque nonsense.

Jason did his best not to criticize her, as she explained some basic things about herself. Her name was Miyoko; she lived about a block away; she didn’t have a job, but her parents were rich, so it really wasn’t a problem. Jason explained his own life as well. He lived a few blocks in the other direction. He feared describing his job, thinking Miyoko would never be able to cut it.

Wedge

“Don’t you own ANY shoes without a heel?” Greg chuckled as he held two different shoes up, “I mean, come on, these are sneakers, and they still have a heel!”

“They’re called wedges,” Laura answered flatly, “You’ll need to learn that sort of thing if you don’t want to arouse any suspicion while we’re swapped. And, yes, every shoe I own has some sort of heel to it. Now that you’re in my body, you can probably tell how short it is. I need the extra height.”

“Believe me, no one want to swap bodies back more than I do. But who cares if you are short? Women are short! That’s just the way it is! And who cares if I don’t know the different between a pump and a wedge or a heel or whatever!?”

“Because, trust me, everyone I know will realize something is up. You’re the one who wanted to keep this body swap secret, so make the effort to keep it secret! It’s going to be a long two days otherwise.”

Lesson

Carter stood in front of the lecture hall frozen. He was thinking about how this happened; it still seemed impossible. He had shown up to Professor Pak’s office hours yesterday for help in her Astronomy class. She could see he was struggling and decided to offer some advice. After reaching up a shelf, she pulled down a small rock, explaining that it was the piece of a meteorite she had gotten to study. They were still unsure of its origins and even the material didn’t seem natural. Then the rock did something that shocked both of them; it began to glow. Then the glow engulfed both of them, swapping their bodies.

Carter was in a panic as he suddenly found himself in Professor Pak’s body. She was a bit more measured, examining the rock as if it had just given up a revelation. She told Carter that she’d bring the rock to an associate for further study, in hopes of figuring how they triggered this and how to control it. Further, she explained that Carter would have to pretend to be her in the interim and not speak a word to anyone about the swap. He protested. How could he pull off being her. He was so close to failing the class; how could he possibly teach it! She quipped back that she had full faith in his ability to understand the material; he just lacked the confidence. What better way to apply the proper pressure than to have him teach it?

It was difficult for Carter to fall asleep. He felt so awkward with Professor Pak’s feminine body. It was even more awkward to shower and get dressed the next morning. However, all of that awkwardness paled in comparison to standing up in front of that lecture hall trying to figure out how to deliver the daily lesson.

Hero

Captain James Buegler was quite proud of himself. In a normal news cycle, he knew his actions would probably be portrayed as heroic. Of course, he realized his actions would be overshadowed in the media by the Great Shift, which caused his need to act in the first place. He was flying when the Shift struck, swapping him into the body of a stewardess. The plane began to nosedive. He rushed up front and gained control just in time. After his adrenaline calmed, the fact that he was now in the body of someone else began to sink in. He was in the body of a stewardess -- a woman! Then he realized the plan he was now in wasn’t his own either. He must’ve swapped into the body of a stewardess on a different plane! He began to wonder how it all happened, and how many other planes had been saved by people like him. Or the worse thought, how many had been lost? He maintained his happiness. He had done his part to help; he saved lives.

Knock First

When Ron opened the door to the bathroom, it was the last thing he expected to see. “What are you doing?” He screamed in horror, “We only swapped bodies an hour ago, and you are already doing...that!?”

“Sorry, Ron,” Lisa lamented, “I needed to use the bathroom, and it was dangling there...and I got curious. And who doesn’t knock before they enter the bathroom?”

“I didn’t think anyone was in here. I didn’t think you were in here. And I certainly didn’t expect you to be doing THAT in here! That’s my body your playing with!”

“It’s not like I am going to break it or anything. Why don’t you go to the upstairs bathroom and check my body out?”

“What? No way! No way; I just want this nightmare body swap to be over.”

Unlikely (Part 2)

It seemed showing up early had given Harvey a sense of false hope. As the start time approached, more people showed up. Except instead of being stuck with less appropriate bodies, most of them appeared to not have shifted at all, or possibly even may have ended up with bodies more appropriate for the field. Harvey swore he saw someone who was now in the body of a professional player. That didn’t give Harvey much hope for being able to stay on the body with this body. It just seemed unlikely. He looked back out to the field and sulked. He could still give it a try though, right?

Unlikely

The summer of the Shift was hard for Harvey. It wasn’t easy for him to adjust to being a woman. He knew he wasn’t alone; most of the world had to deal with new bodies. For a while, he questioned his future, figuring his football scholarship for school in the fall would probably be taken away. Then again, this body was in pretty good shape and he still had all the skills needed; he might still be able to do something on the team. Plus, it seemed entirely possible that all the other players ended up with bodies that might be even more unlikely to play. He showed up early and smiled. Turnout seemed light. He might just be able to pull this off after all. He might not be the best player with this body, but he might just be better than a lot of other people still.

Double Take

Natalie did a double take. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a familiar red dress. No, not just the dress, the body too. It looked like an exact duplicate of her and her dress. It seemed improbable to saw the least.

Then she felt a tugging on her arm and a nasal voice pestering her, “Are you looking at other girls again, James? Jesus! I can’t believe you; I’m standing right here, and you still can’t stop your wandering eye?”

Natalie was trying to reign in her confusion. That wasn’t a duplicate of her body; that was actually her body! She must’ve swapped with this James guy somehow. Looking back to the scornful woman now standing next to her, Natalie knew she need an answer. She should even try to explain the bodyswap or come up with a lie?

Mess

Trevor was really regretting bringing the top secret body swapping device home from work. It didn’t seem like much harm until the thing accidentally went off and ended up swapping him with Rosa, his housekeeper. He couldn’t tell her about the device, but he insisted that they pretend to be each other until they swapped back. When his wife came home, he pretended to be Rosa and went about cleaning the house. It was hard work. He took a quick break on the sofa and pulled out the device, attempting to swap back. Something went wrong again, and instead of swapping back to his own body, he swapped with his wife. He had to once again pretend he had no idea how it happened...on top of still pretending to be Rosa. She insisted he continue with the chores despite the swap. Trevor knew his wife’s tall frame would never be able to squeeze into Rosa’s work clothes, and the chores would ruin most of his wife’s outfits. He had no choice but to do the chores in her underwear. He began to clean the bathroom, thinking about the mess he was in. Rosa was in his body. His wife was in Rosa’s body. And he was in his wife’s body. But his wife thought Rosa was him and he was Rosa. Plus, he had to make sure none of them blabbed. Work couldn’t find out. This was a really big mess! And the bathroom was pretty dirty too!

Deserve It

Kyle often wondered what he did to deserve this, and of course, each time he thought back to the day of the Great Shift. He had been working on the construction site when she walked by. He whistled, he catcalled, he encouraged his fellow workers to join in. Then it happened. The bright light. Suddenly he was the one in the body of the woman he had just been harassing. Luckily, post-Shift worker protection laws allowed him to keep his job, even if he wasn’t as productive as before. Then there was dealing with his co-workers. They whistled at him; they catcalled him; all day long.

Working for the Weekend

Work had been piling up, so Jim dragged himself in on a Saturday. There was no traffic on his drive in, but he swerved as a bright light that looked like a bomb exploding engulfed his vision. Except it didn’t kill him. Instead, he found himself in the backroom of a church, wearing a white dress, and he was now in the body of a woman! There was commotion outside; it seemed everyone had swapped bodies with someone else. Jim was in the body of the bride as a wedding. He slipped out the back in all the confusion. He still had work to do. He headed to the office, despite his new body and the puffy wedding dress. He sat down at his computer and it got worse, the internet was down. He sat at the other side of the desk and sighed; he wasn’t going to be getting much work done.

Changing

Michael sure hoped not all women’s clothes were this difficult to figure out. It had taken him almost twenty minutes to put on this swimsuit in the changing room. He told himself that he better get used to he. He was going to be on Exchange Island for the next two weeks, and this was the body he ended up with. His plan had been simple. After checking in, he was going to hit up the beach. He hadn’t expected to take so long getting ready. He realized it might be just as difficult to get out of this thing, and putting on things like a bra were going to be a challenge as well. But why worry about that right now? Now was a time to just go hit the beach and try to enjoy himself. With this great body, that task couldn’t be that hard!

Jealous

Everyone in town thought Mr. Miller was simply a racist old man. The truth was much more complex. He had lived in the small suburban town long before it became a hip location for rich commuters to settle down. He didn’t grumble about the recent wave of wealthy Asian immigrants because he was racist; it was because he was jealous. He was jealous of their youth and jealous of their money. But he had a plan, and he was finally ready to enact it.

He walked to the train station one morning during the morning commute with a crumbled, tattered piece of paper in his hand. He eyed an Asian businessman on the platform and read the words on the paper. Unexpectedly, Mr. Miller found himself quite far from the station. The body swap spell he read couldn’t apparently be aimed so easily. Instead of swapping with the businessman, he found himself in the body of a woman heading to the gym for a game of tennis.

It wasn’t what he had intended at all, but he had no reason to complain. This woman was young, and if she was headed to the gym instead of a job, she probably had plenty of money. Or at least her husband did.

Potion

Just a few more drops should do it. Luke had to be careful to mix the exact right amount of the potion. Then he was going to have to figure out a way to slip half of it into Amber’s drink before downing the other half himself. He knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but he did have one small advantage. She didn’t know that he knew about the magic body swapping potion that caused their swap. Sure, she had done it fairly stealthily, but once he was in her body, he found her notes in her room, which lead to an internet with the instructions. It meant he could reverse this swap and get his body back. He just needed to get close enough to use it...

Swapped Lives Matter

It seemed that just about every day in the news, there was a story about a young black man being shot by the police for no reason. It was always in the back of Jack’s mind each time he went out. He could tell the look on white people’s faces when they saw his tall stature, large frame, hip-hop style, and dark skin; they were afraid of him. It didn’t seem to matter how mild mannered he was; the preconceived notion was almost always there. He couldn’t imagine what might happen if he was in the wrong place late at night. It didn’t take much convincing to get him involved in demonstrations protesting police violence.

It was at one of these protests where something very strange happened. There was a bright light. Jack had assumed the police had shot some sort of flash grenade into the crowd, but it turned out to be something else, something very different. When the light dissipated, he was in a college dorm room. It got even weirder. Thnigs seemed slightly taller than what he was used to. He soon realized he was no longer 6 foot 4; he was now just a little over 5 feet. And he wasn’t 270 pounds anymore; he was probably closer to 100. And the weirdest part? He wasn’t a black man anymore; he was an Asian woman!

He rushed out of the dorm and back to his own home. He changed out of the dress she was wearing and into his own baggy clothes. Looking at himself in the mirror was a trip -- a small Asian woman dressed in his clothes! It was weird! He thought about heading back to the protest, but if he wasn’t the only one who swapped bodies, he was sure it would be quite chaotic at this point. He still want to support the cause, but he also doubted the police would ever give him any trouble with this body. But then again, being a woman did present a whole bunch of other things he had to be concerned about...

Lesson

Mike was going to watch the big game with his buddies, so he headed to the store to pick up a case of beer. As he walked back to his truck with a case in his hand, he whistled as a woman in the parking lot. All of a sudden, the beer he was holding became an iced tea and the keys became a smartphone. On top of that, he was wearing the stripped shirt and tight shorts of the woman that he had just whistled at, but it wasn’t just that -- he had her body. He had swapped bodies with her! It seemed impossible! You couldn’t just swap bodies with some chick, right? He couldn’t hang out with his friends looking like either. It would likely be more than awkward; they’d be hitting on him all night. He had to fix this. He quickly rushed to the woman now in his body. He begged for her to fix this; to reverse it. She just smiled as she got into his truck, telling him that he just needed to learn to respect women. He’d get his own body back once he learned that lesson.

Open Mic

Taking the stage at the comedy club’s open mic night always took a bit of courage, but Evan had decided to brave it. His first few jokes had bombed, but he was starting to feel like he was building is stride. Then he looked out into the audience and froze. He couldn’t quite believe it, but there was a couple in the front row where a woman’s head was on a man’s body and a man’s head was on a woman’s body. It didn’t stop there either. Above another table was a man’s torso that was clearly attached to long feminine legs in a skirt beneath it. The woman next to him had two very different legs. It didn’t take long before Evan realized that he wasn’t immune from the body part swapping that had hit the room. He was completely changed with all of his new body parts seemingly taken exclusively from female members of the audience. One leg was from a woman wearing a short skirt and black boots; the other (along with the pelvic area)was from a woman wearing black pants and white boots. He had the head of an Asian woman. He wasn’t sure where his torso was from, but he noted that the sleeves on it didn’t match each other along with different color nail polish on each hand meant he probably had the arms of two different people as well. A quick heckle caused him to continue his routine. But he couldn’t help wonder that if no one was freaking out, was he the only one who noticed this all?

Jason discovered the claim slip for his new body’s purse tucked in his bosom. After checking the info inside, he walked to her apartment in a bit of a daze. It wasn’t far from where the “play” had been held, and it turned out to be quite spacious.

At first, he just wanted to go to bed. But as he looked around for pajamas, he was drawn to the rest of her wardrobe. There were plenty of wild outfits like the one she had chosen to wear tonight, but there was plenty of other things too -- though it seemed she mostly wore skirts and dresses. He tried a few things on, feeling a bit more comfortable now than in the outfit he had been in earlier.

He began to dig through papers and bank statement. Jason wanted to know everything about his new life. It luckily seemed that money wouldn’t be a problem; it seemed she had enough investments to simply live off the dividends. A pay stub revealed a job working as a graphic designer -- though this was much lower than the dividend payments. As he explored more and more, he told himself that he could do this. He could live this life. And the more he did this, the more he began to believe it.

Finale (Part 3)

Between the period of shock and the conversations, enough time had passed for the room to start to clear out. Jason realized he hadn’t much of a plan for how to live this woman’s life or how to get his body back. The ‘first timer’ comment had struck him. He could return and get swapped again. If he coordinated with his former body, he could buy a lot of tickets, and play the odds until he was himself again. But his own body had already filtered out of the room. Plus, it had been difficult for his friends to get tickets to this show; they were sold out for months. That means he’d be stuck in this body for at least that long.

The gentleman who spoke to him before did so again, “You probably want to go down to the lobby and get your purse from the coat check. You’ll be kicked out of here soon, but I’m sure the contents of that will help you with any adjustment.”

Jason thanked the man for the advice, but he still felt this all seemed so strange.

Finale (Part 2)

Jason stood there in shock. How was this possible? How was he suddenly in a different body? He didn’t have much time to think about it as a large, burly man approached him.

“That’s MY body,” The man growled.

Jason struggled for words, “I’m not...I don’t...uh...”

Another gentleman interrupted them, “You must both be first timers. This is ALWAYS what happens.”

“People switch bodies?” Jason finally blurted out, “How does this not get out?”

“There are punishments for telling...”

“But the press!”

“The people in the bodies of the press are no longer the press. Often times, it’s folks who can barely put two sentences together.”

“But why? How?”

“You are full of questions, aren’t you? Have you not heard the phrase that all the world is a stage? This isn’t the performance’s finale; it’s the beginning. And you have been given a new role to play. I can’t wait to see how you’ll act the part!”

Finale (Part 1)

It was called an “immersive theatrical experience,” and tickets sold out months in advance. Jason’s friends had convinced him to go with them, and he had honestly forgotten about it until they reminded him the night before. He looked over many reviews to prepare. They all raved about the play but kept quite vague on the details. Arriving on Thursday night with his friends, he noted that many people waiting in line wore crazy, artsy outfits. Jason felt a little out of place in his t-shirt and jeans, but was thankful he was with his friends who were all dressed in a similar manner. That didn’t last long.

The organizers of the play insisted on splitting up all groups who entered. People were brought in randomly with others they didn’t know. Once inside, Jason felt like it didn’t seem much like a “play;” more like an abandoned warehouse with a strobe light here or there. There was just enough lighting to realize the warehouse actually had an elaborate set design, but certainly not enough light to appreciate it. And, sure enough, after some exploration, there were actors as well. Though much like it felt like a stretch calling this thing a “play;” it also felt like a stretch calling the people inside “actors.” They just seemed to run around, dance, or just do general odd things. For about an hour, Jason wandered around the dark, decorated warehouse before being lead to a large room. The entire audience must have been in there, but it was far too dark to recognize anyone. The strobes became quicker until it became blinding and a sharp noise rang out until it became piercing.

Then it was quiet and the lights were back on. But everything was different. Very different.

Everyone in the audience seemed to be feeling up their own bodies. It didn’t take long for Jason to figure out why. He looked down at his own body -- except it wasn’t HIS body. He was a woman! He was one of those people he had seen come in a crazy outfit. It was gold with tall black boots. Had he seen her come in? He tried to remember what she looked like.

Then an announcement shot out over a PA system declaring that the performance was over. It couldn’t end like this, could it? With a mass body swapping? It not only seemed crazy; it seemed completely impossible!

Throw Up

The Great Shift nearly brought Daniel to tears. He was in a panic when he found himself in someone else’s body. Being a woman was one thing.; he was sure he could deal with things like women’s clothing, makeup, and long hair. But this body was so frail and so thin. He felt weak, like his legs could barely hold up the rest of his body. And he was starving...just like really hungry. Being this skinny just wasn’t natural. He wanted to gorge out on some food, but he realized that things were now worse for him. The thought of doing so made him feel like he wanted to throw up.

Edward hoped off his skateboard and began to walk back to his home again. A trip downtown would have to wait for now. Stilt, he was eager to see people reacting to their new bodies, but most people had cleared out of his neighborhood. He was beginning to think that he should do the same. And, in fact, while he expected to adjust with more time in this body, the opposite was actually true. He was feeling more and more weird as he became aware of all the differences.

Edward knew traffic downtown would be awful right now, probably even worse if everyone had swapped bodies, so he decided the best way down would be to ride his skateboard. However, when he got on, he found riding to be difficult. His balance was all off, and he was sure he was going to fall off any minute if he kept going. He figured it actually made a lot of sense; a new body was going to take some getting used to. It’s muscle memory was different, and he’d have to learn to compensate for a different distribution of weight as well.

He thought back to the heels he had been wearing when he first swapped, realizing that he had walked back to his house in them without too much difficulty. Clearly, this body was used to heels but not a skateboard. He was a bit bummed about this, but he figured that he would have plenty of time to relearn.

Sister's Clothes (Part 2)

On his way home, Edward encountered plenty of other people who had swapped bodies. He was insanely curious about this whole thing, but he wanted to change clothes first. He let himself in with a hidden key and proceeded straight to his sister’s bag. The t-shirt inside was too revealing for his taste, but certainly better than that strange blue bra. The nylon pants seemed far too tight, but still preferable to a skirt. He was glad she had sneakers in there to replace the high heels that were on his feet. Then he grabbed his skateboard and one of his baseball hats and headed outside.

His neighborhood was pretty empty; most people had probably cleared out after the Shift had taken place. If he wanted to talk to other people, his best bet was probably heading to downtown or some place with more people.

Sister's Clothes (Part 1)

The Great Shift was a very weird thing for a lot of people, and this certainly included Edward, who found himself in the body of a woman. It wasn’t just the fact that he had an entirely new gender, but he also wasn’t comfortable in the way this body was dressed. It felt like he was wearing little more than a bra on top and having a skirt on was equally strange. He needed to change.

Fortunately, he recognized the corner where he now stood. His place wasn’t to far away. His own clothes would be much too big, but his sister had left a small bag the last time she had visited; maybe there was something in there that he could wear. He was sure that it had to better than what he was wearing now at least!

Be Someone Else

No one knew the name of the party; no one knew who hosted it; it was never held in the same place twice; and everyone said you never knew what was going to happen. But each time it was held, everyone in Los Angeles wanted in. It was THE place to be. Victor freaked out when he got an invitation one day. Other than the address, the only other information on the card was the theme of the party, which was “Be Someone Else.” Victor didn’t quite understand what that meant, but decided to wear his best suit to the party, thinking it a far cry from the t-shirt and jeans he wore every day to his job in the creative field.

The line to get in was long and slow. As he got closer to the front, he noticed the line split in two with each line going into a different entrance. Each person from his line was escorted in one at a time. When it was his turn, they brought him in and closed the door. He stood in a small room about the size of an elevator shaft. The walls all had green foam spikes on them. Then the color of those spikes began to change, becoming a bright pink. But the room wasn’t the only thing different; his body was too! He was now an Asian woman wearing a revealing gold outfit. As a door on the other side of the room opened, he realized what had happened; he had swapped bodies with the person in the other line. He was literally going to be someone else at this party.

Sure enough, it was a one-of-a-kind party. With all the guests in different bodies, people were both very cautious and very open. But when it came time for the end of the night, he was eager to get back to his own body. But that was the true twist of this event; you didn’t swap back at the end!

Second Chance

Mitch sat on the curb thinking about how crazy his life had become in the past week. It all started after a late night at his second job. His car had just wouldn’t start and he was forced to call a cab that he knew he couldn’t afford. He ended up opening to the driver and explained about how he couldn’t afford anything, how he was working two jobs, and how he could just not have to live his own life anymore. The driver seemed understanding, but remained silent. Things got weird when the ride was over and Mitch ended up swapping bodies with the cab driver. At first, he was thankful to get a complete new chance at life. But after seeing the driver’s dirty, small apartment, he began to think things went from bad to worse. Then he found a journal that revealed a shocking secret. The cab driver’s body would be temporary; soon enough he’d be swapping with another passenger. It didn’t take long; only about seven days. He hadn’t expected to swap with a woman, but that’s what happened. As he sat there in yet another new body, he wondered if this one was finally his chance at a better life. At least, he hoped it would be.

Broke

Anthony was pretty surprised by the app that Danielle had shown him. You took a picture of two people and you could swap the parts between the two people. The weirdest thing was that the changes would also happen in real life. After a little bit, he swapped just about every part of him with Danielle. The only thing left that was still his own was his head. But then he tried to swap things back, but nothing happened.

“I think it’s broke,” He said.

“That’s impossible,” Danielled laughed, “I’ve een using it for weeks! It doesn’t break!”

“No, watch!”

He showed her that he was trying to swipe everything back. She saw that his gestures had no effect, and her smile slowly turned upsidedown.

Revenge

Revenge was such a delicious taste; probably even better than the hamburger Fred was eating right now or the ice cream and soda he had for breakfast. He had been a mostly unremarkable guy for most of his life until he learned he had the magical ability to swap bodies with anyone. He used that power to get back at the women who made fun of him in his youth. The better looking they were, the more he enjoyed gorging on food to fatten them up. Natalie had been quite cruel to him as a kid and now she was particularly hot. He was so eager and more than happy to ruin her figure.

Chaos

Brandon breathed heavily with the gun in his hands aimed at the others in the park. He had come here about twenty minutes ago and unexpectedly been stuck in a situation where he swapped from body to body. It took him a while to figure out that it was due to this odd gun. It took even longer before he ended up in the body of the person holding the gun. He looked out to the crowd. There was about thirty people there, all looking very confused, but also thankful to no longer be swapping around. He’d probably have to sort this out, but he had no idea who was who. He had no idea how to use this gun, and he had no interest in a result that would just continue the chaos. But people were starting to look at him impatiently.

“So we have these bodies, but we can’t fool around? How do they stop us?” Paul asked inquisitively.

“If they catch you,” Mei answered, “The person might not want to swap back.”

“That seems like a worthwhile risk. After all, it is our honeymoon.”

“You’d risk being stuck in that body for good?”

“I just want a proper honeymoon with my wife! I don’t care abut the risk...”

“Well, I hope you’re ready...”

Paul leaned on the bathtub in an attempt to make a seductive pose for when Mei got back from the lobby. When she arrived, she saw him and laughed.

“What are you doing?” She asked.

“Well, it is our honeymoon,” He said rather sheepishly, “I figured we should get busy.”

“That sort of stuff isn’t allowed here. What if I got you pregnant? Or one of these bodies gave the other an STD? Besides, I can’t imagine you’d even be comfortable with the thought. Did you adjust to being a woman that fast? In the fifteen minutes that I was down in the lobby?”

“I’m just trying to relax and make the most of this,” Paul sighed.

Check In (Part 2)

As Mei went to the lobby to check in, Paul slumped down on the floor of the bathroom. Being in the body of a woman didn’t exactly feel like the most ideal way to spend his honeymoon. After all, it was going to be pretty hard to perform the traditional husband honeymoon duties with this body. Or was it?

Technically, it wouldn’t be impossible. While he was in the body of a woman, Mei was in the body of a man. Technically, it would still be possible ... sort of.

It would be weird being on the other end of things, but Paul was sure he could do it. Heck, he had the right equipment; it was just a matter of will. He’d pose all sexy and greet Mei when she walked back in ... this was going to be tough!

Check In (Part 1)

“Are you alright, Paul?” Mei asked her husband.

“I’ll be alright, I guess.” Paul replied, “I just didn’t expect it to happen as soon as we landed. I mean, I didn’t expect it to happen the moment we landed. I also didn’t expect to be, well...”

“A woman?”

“Yeah.”

“I told you it would be random! That’s half of the fun of Exchange Island. Tell you what, I’ll go down to the lobby and check us in. You stay here and take some time to adjust to that body.”

Paul knew his wife Mei wanted to do something really unique for their honeymoon. He had been a little bit hesitant, but she talked him into Exchange Island for their trip. She had been a few times, telling him each time was completely different, but she had never swapped immediately upon landing before. It was quite jarring to swap right away. Paul was particularly shocked with his new body...

Parts

“You can’t be serious!” Jeff exclaimed, “I tell you to bring me over some clothes for the next few days and you bring me things like this? You never wear stuff like this.”

“It’s your fault we’re stuck in each other’s bodies for the next few days,” Leah smirked, “You said you have to wait for some parts to arrive in order to fix it; that we’ll be stuck like this for a few days. Well, if you’re going to be stuck in my body, you should have to really understand what it’s like to be female, and that means having guys ogle you like a piece of meat.”

“It’s not my fault the machine broke, and you agreed to this swap in the first place.”

“And so did you!” Leah reached into her purse and pulled out a tampon, “And if we don’t switch back soon, you’ll need this.”

Jeff’s heart sunk. He couln’t wait for those parts. However, it didn’t take long for his attitude to change. After a few hours, he was enjoying wearing all the sexy clothes Leah had brought. He felt like he could easily deal with her upcoming period as well. He began to draw up plans to make sure his body swapping device would malfunction a second time once the new parts arrived, ensuring he’d be able to stay in Leah’s body even longer.

Believe Me

Chuck turned suddenly when he heard the back door open. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw his wife standing there.

“Oh, thank God it’s you,” He said, “I thought she followed me.”

“Who the hell are you? And what are you doing in my house?” Chuck’s wife screamed.

“It’s me, Shelly. It’s Chuck. There was this woman on the street who ran up to me with this weird medallion. Somehow it made us morph into each other. She started talking about how she was going to steal my life. I don’t know how she plans to do that. I figured she was going to try to follow me to figure it out. I think I lost her in the thrift store where I bought these clothes. I mean, look at this butt! Having it stuffed in my own suit meant those pants were about to split! Then I came home. Please, you have to believe me.”

Shelly looked very skeptical. After all, there was a woman in the kitchen claiming to be her husband, telling stories about body swapping. In fact, it was all so surreal that it seemed impossible that it was being made up. Could this woman before her really be Chuck?

Biology (Part 2)

Arriving at school on Monday, Evan found out how all his friends had been swapped around as well. He was trying to ignore their gazes, but by the time third period Biology rolled around, he was feeling very uncomfortable. Before class, he and his friend John would talk about what they would do to Miss Khan’s body if they ever got with her. Evan arrived first, and then John sat down next to him. John was in the body of a 45 year old Asian man.

He leered over and spoke, “Guess I can finally actually do some of those things we always talked about. What do you say, Evan?”

Evan shifted quietly in his chair. He wasn’t sure that he could deal with John’s advances and the stares of his other classmates. He was happy when Miss Khan walked in. She was now in the body of an elderly woman. Despite her body, he was sure that he never paid more attention than he did today.

Biology

Evan didn’t ask many questions when he found himself in a woman’s body. He was just fascinated by the smooth skin on his face and the jiggling feeling of his new breasts. In fact, he was so focused on simply being a woman that he didn’t initially notice which woman he was. When he finally looked in a mirror, he was in for another surprise. He wasn’t just any woman; he was his third period Biology teacher, Mis Khan. All the guys in the senior class would joke about wanting to sleep with her; she was literally the hottest teacher in school. She was simply gorgeous with large breasts, which he had to admit felt even larger from this angle. Though he quickly realized there were other advantages of being in this body. If he could find her gradebook, he could give himself a little boost. Of course, as he was thinking about this, he was still thinking this body swap was temporary and isolated. If he had bothered to turn on a radio or the TV, he’d find out that it was caused by something called “The Great Shift.” And come Monday morning, despite his body, he’d still be just another student...except now many of his former friends would no longer just be joking about trying to sleep with Miss Khan, they’d actually be trying to with Evan being the one inside!

As the years passed, Ben had gotten really used to being Lauren. In fact, he rarely even thought of his old life as Ben anymore. He just felt like the hot, young, successful, single woman that he looked like. Of course, there was always a reminder of his old life. From time to time, Lauren’s husband would call, hoping Ben would remember being the old Lauren, hoping they’d be able to get back together. Ben always hated those calls. They were a reminder of that brief period right after the accident -- when he still very much felt like Ben in Lauren’s body instead of just being Lauren. He couldn’t blame the guy though. He must’ve been totally heartbroken after Ben broke the news. He couldn’t have ever truly understood. Each time he called, Ben thought about telling the truth about who he really was, but he thought that might hurt even more. Ben walked and listened to Lauren’s husband sob into the phone. It was a lengthy plea this time, but Ben just wanted to be over with it.

“You’ve been real supportive these past few weeks,” Ben began, “You’ve given me my space, but have been there to help me readjust. You’ve respected my boundaries and been a stand up guy. But it’s not like I’m remembering anything, and I’m just not feeling any single thing between us. I think I might need to move out and carve out my own life.”

Ben could see the pain on his face. He hated doing this, but he didn’t feel like he had much of a choice. He was adjusting to being Lauren, but having a husband was still just one step too far for him.

Only a few days later, the doctors told Ben that he’d be sent home shortly. This made Ben nervous. He was hoping to be able to spend a few more days in the hospital before having to go to Lauren’s home and spend time with her husband. He thought about telling people who he really was, but not wanting to risk being sent to an insane asylum, he decided to text Lauren’s husband instead and asked to be picked up.

Ben was thankful that the guy had kept his distance so far, but this would be harder once he was back at Lauren’s. He’d have to set some ground rules about how he wanted things to be. The guy obvious still looks at Ben and sees his wife, but Ben looks at the guy and sees a stranger. It shouldn’t be too hard to pretend to have amnesia; after all, he actually doesn’t know a thing abut Lauren!

About an hour later, a man entered Ben’s hospital room. He could only presume that this was Lauren’s husband, which was confirmed when the man spoke.

“Honey, I came as soon as I heard. Are you alright?” He paused, “You don’t even recognize me, do you?”

Ben shrugged. “Sorry,” he said trying to sound sympathetic, “Is there any word from the doctors?”

“They scanned your head while you were unconscious. There doesn’t seem to be any damage, but your brain waves seem to be completely changed when compared with a scan from a few years back. They think it’s just from the shock, and that you’ll be back to normal and remembering soon.”

Ben thought about how silly that sounded. He couldn’t think of a single memory of Lauren’s. If her thoughts were still in here, she was sure hiding them well. And if they did come back, would she just sort of take over and erase his own thoughts? He just smiled and nodded at the man sitting next to him.

Ben didn’t have much more time to think about before a few visitors walked in. It was this woman’s friends from the train.

“Lauren, we are SO glad you’re okay.” One woman said.

“Can’t you see she’d not okay, Gwen! She’s got a broken leg!”

“Yeah, well, at least she’s not dead.” Ben decided this was his chance. “Could one of you call the doctor? I think there’s something wrong. You all look familiar, but I have no idea who you are.”

“O. M. G.” The first woman spoke again, “It’s like you have amnesia! Can you even think of your husband’s name?”

Ben felt his heart sink a little. He didn’t want to think about the fact that this body had a husband. He shook his head, “I’m not even sure if I remember my own name...”

Side Swipe (Part 1)

As Ben awoke in the hospital bed, he tried to remember how he got here. He remembered getting on the train for his morning commute. He sat not far from a group of chatty women he often saw. He never paid much attention to their loud talks, but he always observed how pretty he thought the blond woman in the group was. He was looking right at her as a train passed going the other direction. Then he heard a scrape and a crash. The two trains must’ve side-swiped each other. The next thing he knew, he awoke here. And that’s when he caught sight of his own reflection in a piece of hospital equipment. It wasn’t his own; it was the woman from the train! The blond one that he had been staring at. This didn’t even seem possible! He was sure that if he tried to tel anyone, they’d think he was crazy. So he’d have to pretend; to figure something out...

New Normal

Gary looked in the mirror and tried telling himself that this was the new normal. It was still so weird to get used to the new body that the Great Shift had dropped him into. He had been a woman now for just over a week. For most of that time, he had stayed home and attempted to adjust. It was finally time to brave the outside world. He wore clothes that were very feminine. Despite the shirt seemingly too short, the pants seemingly too high, and the heels seemingly difficult to walk in, he wanted to avoid people asking him if he was really a guy. He wore shades to help avoid eye contact. He was taking this one step at a time, and going outside like this was going to be the biggest step yet.

Nothing He Could Do

The commotion surrounding Lucas was understandable. The Great Shift had just struck, swapping everyone’s bodies. For his own part, Lucas was just trying not to freak out. He slouched down in his chair and manspread out his legs. It actually felt really weird, considering his new body. A lot of familiar sensations were gone; they were replaced by others that didn’t seem quite right. He didn’t want to be a woman, but considering the confusion in the room, there didn’t seem to be anything he could do about it either...

Shift Selfies

After the Great Shift, Dennis didn’t think it was unreasonable for Laura to check up on her body. He would send her a selfie every day, so that she knew it was okay and that he was treating it right. He took today’s during his morning jog. He broke out his cell phone, smiled, and sent it to her. She replied back quickly and thanked him for the daily text. He knew he was lucky to end up with such a good body after the Shift, others he knew weren’t quite so fortunate. The selfie was the least he could do for the former owner of this body. He’d take photos of himself after buying a new outfit or a haircut. And Laura would always thank him. She missed her body, but she was glad that Dennis was taking god care of it.

Whatever I Want

John was shocked when it happened. He looked down to see a ballooning under his shirt.

“What the heck?” He asked as he became curious as he began to take the shirt off to investigate.

A sudden voice stopped him, “Becky! What are you doing?”

John froze, “Who? Me? I’m not Becky. I’m a man! Or I was until a few seconds ago. Now I’m suddenly a woman...and I’m curious!”

“That’s my sister’s body! You can’t do that!”

“It’s my body now, and I can do whatever I want!”

Forest Dance

Luke was convinced this was all a strange and wonderful dream. He was dancing in a forest, but he didn’t have his own body. The body he had was female; it was flexible. He could move it in ways that he just couldn’t imagine. He lifted a leg over his head with no effort; it was amazing. His head swam with delight as well. What he didn’t realize was that he wasn’t dreaming. He was one of the countless victims of the Great Shift, a world wide body swapping phenomenon. Luke just happened to swap with a ballerina, who had taken a few too many recreational drugs and was dancing in the woods when the Shift took place. His mind was swimming with her high, and he couldn’t quite grasp what was actually real; that this body was actually his now...

The Lab Accident (Part 2)

The next day, Martin’s heart skipped throughout the day as he hoped his wife would be normal when he arrived home. He wasn’t hopeful when he found her sitting outside in the same chair with her head down. He let out a sigh of relief when she lifted it. She had her own face.

“You might not want to be too thankful,” She said, “I may look like your wife, but I ain’t your wife. It’s Raj. We solved the problems with our faces, but, well, as you can see, I’m her. And she’s me. She thought you’d take the news better if you heard it from her body, which I guess is going to be mine for the next couple days until we can take care of this all for good down at the lab...”

The Lab Accident

Martin got a call from his wife telling him to rush home immediately, that there had been an accident at the lab she worked at. He ran into the backyard where she was sitting on a chair, then she looked up. He was shocked to see that her face wasn’t her own. He recognized it. The face belonged to her co-worker, Raj. She attempted a rough smile, telling Martin it was going to be okay. It should be temporary; it was an accident; everyone was working very hard to fix it. Martin felt like vomiting. There was his wife’s beautiful body sitting there with Raj’s ugly face. It was horrifying. He could only hope that she was right, and that it would all be fixed as soon as possible.

Privilege

It had been a pretty difficult two years at college for Jamal. He was one of the few African American students at the otherwise white school, and he often felt racial discrimination from his peers. They often mocked him, saying the only reason he got in was because of affirmative action. Jamal knew his grades were better than most, but he knew logic never seemed to get through to any of them. He would take advantage of his size and their prejudices by making a low growl to get them to shut up. Things got really bad at the end of sophomore year when a female student falsely accused him of rape. He wasn’t sure why she did it. Maybe she mistook him for someone else or maybe she was just out to get him, but he wasn’t happy about having to face the school’s judicial board to defend himself. On the night before the hearing, he wished he benefited from the same sort of privilege these white, female students did.

He woke up feeling strange. Something felt different. He made his way over to a mirror and was shocked. Instead of being a 255 pound, six foot tall, African American male; he was now a 110 pound, five foot four, white woman! He decided there was probably an upside to this. He wouldn’t have to be mocked by his classmates anymore; he’d probably get a fairer shake at school. But when he put on a black hoodie, he did totally miss the feeling of knowing he could intimidate the other students. He was pretty sure no one was going to cowering in fear of this body!

What Can We Do?

“Will you relax?” Andrew smiled, “Maybe this will all just reverse itself after we’re done swimming.”

“Relax?” Tara asked, “This wasn’t some minor thing like someone taking our cell phones while we were in the pool. We switched bodies while we were changing in the locker rooms! It’s completely surreal. I’m not sure we can just expect to switch back once we’re done!”

“What other choice do we have? We don’t know how it happened; we don’t know how to switch back. Let’s just enjoy ourselves and hope it fixes itself on it’s own.”

Tara scowled at Andrew. She couldn’t shake the feeling he was behind this all somehow...

Waiting (Part 2)

While Mike would be the first to admit that he enjoyed his time in Kylie’s body, he had been waiting her for over an hour for her to return so that they could switch back. Fun was fun, but he wanted to go back to his own body. The medallion was still right here in Kylie’s purse; he was ready to switch back. He just needed Kylie with his body to show up. He started to worry. What if he was stuck like this? What if he was stuck as Kylie? But, then again, he could always use the medallion in this purse to switch with someone else.

Waiting

Mike had to admit that he had a good time today. He never would’ve expected it, but he enjoyed spending the past twelve hours in Kylie’s body. When they had been given the weird medallion; they didn’t believe it would work. Then they tried actually using it this morning! They were shocked to end up with each other’s bodies, and (after switching clothes) they decided they’d each spend the day as the other and meet back up here at night. Mike had kept the medallion safe with him in Kylie’s purse. Now he was just sitting here and waiting for Kylie with his body. Then they could use the medallion again and switch back. He had enjoyed his time, but he was pretty anxious to get back to his own body.

Entranced

As soon as his body was stolen by the driver of the magic taxi, Tim went looking for a body to steal himself. It didn’t take him long to pick one. When she entered the cab, he was immediately entranced; he decided she would be the one. He dropped her off and wished her a nice day. The next thing he knew, he was on the side of the road in her body, as she drove away in the magic taxi in the cabbie’s body. However, as he stood there, Tim was having a slight regret. He was barely balancing on the heels of her boots. He was afraid a single step would send him crashing down. He wasn’t sure what he was going to do.

Results

Jeff was pretty sure he was never going to tire of seeing this reflection any time he looked in the mirror. It always put a big smile on his face. He was pretty sure he lucked out with the results of the Great Shift. Many of his friends ended up in bodies that were old or just plain ugly. But Jeff? Jeff’s new body was amazingly attractive; he loved showing it off. He even loved being a woman. The Great Shift was probably the best thing that could’ve ever happened in his opinion.

In Flight

Even after landing, Ryan was still a little bit rattled from the flight. The plane veered a little off course in order to avoid some turbulence and flew into the airspace of a strange placed called Exchange Island. Ryan had just been sitting in his seat, listening to music, and almost falling asleep when it all happened. He was suddenly on his feet pouring a drink, which he ended up spilling all over another passenger. The other passenger got quite upset and started yelling at Ryan, but then his anger shifted to a far greater problem when he realized he wasn’t in his own body. Everyone on the plane had now been swapped with someone else. The bodies the pilots were now inside rushed up front. Ryan realized he was now in the body of a stewardess. It seemed their short time over the Island was just long enough to initiate the Island’s swapping ability, but not long enough to trigger a return to normal. It also resulted in a set of new rules warning planes not to fly over the island. To avoid public panic, everyone was asked to maintain the identities of who they swapped into. Ryan was a little nervous about taking over the life of the stewardess and being a woman! But a generous settlement from the airline made it a little easier.

Walk a Mile

The phrase “try walking a mile in someone else’s shoes” seemed like a good philosophy to try. In fact, Neil had invented a body swapping device that would allow him to do just that. He decided to pick someone who, at least on outward appearances, had a very different life from his own, in order to maximize possible empathy. Plus, the woman he picked had very unique shoes as well. It didn’t take long for Neil to feel that empathy. He probably walked only a few feet before he jumped up on a wall and sat down. Walking in heels was difficult! To make matters worse, the woman in his body had just run off after swapping. He wasn’t sure how he was going to get anywhere with these things on his feet, but he sure didn’t want to run around barefoot either. It seemed he was going to learn the true meaning of that old phrase.

As the weeks went on, Michael’s outfits got crazier and crazier. At this point, no one in the office was talking to him anymore. Even Human Resources didn’t want to call him into their office, but they had no choice. What she was wearing wasn’t exactly violating the dress code, but it was distracting -- and she could be reprimanded for that. Michael sighed. He was being sent home to change; if they had to warn him again, he’d be fired. But he didn’t see what was wrong, quite honestly. He had certainly always perceived women as wearing cute, fun things all the time. What was wrong with wearing balloons as a shirt, and this round plastic skirt was totally cute! He sighed. He could still wear this sort of stuff on the weekend at least!

As the days and weeks passed, Michael went to the mall to buy all sorts of new clothes. Of course, his fashion sense was a little more than odd. But he loved buying things that were cute, unique, and fun. However, they weren’t exactly fitting for the workplace. He was still smiley and friendly at work, but the inappropriate dress was a little bit offputting. Despite his best efforts, he was finding himself ignored almost as much as Ling had been. Of course, Ling had been ignored because she could easily be missed. Michael was being ignored because he was just too much.

Shy (Part 2)

The next day at the office, people began to notice a young woman in the office. Now that it was Michael was in Ling’s body, he was outgoing, friendly, and spunky. He thought about Ling now in Mageek’s body driving the cab. He felt a little bad, but he also felt like she never appreciated this body. He had looked through her wardrobe and found a lot of drab clothing. Even finding a bright red bow for his hair proved to be a challenge, and he snipped off some of that long hair. He arrived to work smiling; he talked to everyone he could; he even flirted with a few guys. He was pretty sure that he was going to love Ling’s life...

Shy (Part 1)

No one ever noticed Ling. She had started her job three months ago, arriving early and leaving late. She brought her lunch from home and stayed at her desk the entire day. She was too shy to speak much to anyone, except with one word answers, and very few people in the office even knew her name. It was uncommon for her to be working late and have someone turn the lights off while she was still at her desk. Thursday evening was one of those nights. She sighed when it happened, knowing she should probably stop working and head home. She’d have three minutes until the light of her monitor would turn off from inactivity; it was plenty of time to make it to the door.

She opened an app on her phone to use a car service app to make sure one would be waiting for her outside. It told her that her driver, Mageek, would be there in five minutes.

Ling was as quiet on the car ride home as she was in the office. Though Mageek kept looking at her in his rear view mirror. She didn’t think much of it until it was too late. Mageek turned to her and wished she have a nice night. In the next instant, Ling was now in Mageek’s body! She watched in horror as her own face smiled at her and handed her a fifty dollar bill.

“My name’s actually Michael,” She watched her own lips say, “You’re Mageek now. You might want to build up some confidence. You’ll probably need it if you decide to continue the curse and steal a new body yourself...”

Silence

The entire office was remarkably silent in the wake of the Great Shift. No one said a word and the only sounds came from the humming of computer fans and the shuffling of feet as people made their way from the bodies of the co-workers they had been swapped into back to their own desk. Marshall felt like he was being particularly noisy as he nearly fell over several times. Tina’s body just felt so off-balance to him. He took a deep breath as he sat down. He didn’t feel like doing any work, It didn’t seem to matter where he put his hands; it seemed that he kept rubbing up uncomfortably against an unfamiliar body part.

The awkward silence was finally broken a minute or two later when finally a voice spoke up.

“I guess we should all go home, right? I mean, it’s weird to stay here like this, isn’t it?”

Back (Part 2)

It turned out, Michael wasn’t called by the government in order to return to his own body. The Great Shift had swapped Michael into the body of a wealthy man; that man wanted his body back and paid the government a great deal of money to be among the first in line. That meant Michael ended up in the body that the Shift had stuck that guy in, which happened to a young blond woman.

As Michael walked outside, he took a deep breath, feeling his chest move in and out as he did so felt odd. In fact, while he hadn’t much trouble adjusting to the Shift’s swap, this one was much more difficult. Being a woman just felt so odd and foreign. He had no idea what he was going to tell his wife.

His only hope was that they would find his own body soon enough. The government had told him that willingly participating had moved him up the list. Of course, even if they found his body, the slow process of swapping meant that he’d still have to be put on a waiting list that was over ten years long!

Back

When the Great Shift happened, Michael never expected to get his own body back, but then again, it was not like he had it all that bad. The body he ended up in was mostly the same as his own, maybe just a little older and few pounds heavier. He was quite surprised when the government gave him a call about a year later and told him they had found a way to swap people back. It was a slow process, and they were prioritizing who would swap back earlier. Michael was surprised he was on the list at all. He showed up for his appointment early and bought a cup of coffee. He drank it outside before heading inside, quite thankful that he’d be back in his own body soon.

New Possessions

Sam wasn’t exactly sure how he ended up without a body of his own. Had he been killed somehow or did he just sort of turn into a magical spirit? Regardless, being such a spirit hasn’t actually been so bad, especially when he realized he could possess anyone. He started by possessing people fairly similar to himself, but two weeks ago, he possessed Lexi. It was the first time he had possessed a woman, and he hated to admit how much he enjoyed it. Two weeks was much longer than the usual two or three days he stayed in someone’s body. Still, it was time to move on. He slumped down and let his spirit pour out of Lexi’s mouth. He hated giving up her body, but he vowed the next body he possessed would also be a woman, and he was sure he could find one that was just as good, if not better, than Lexi’s.

Half Court (Part 2)

Whatever sort of lesson Dave was supposed to learn from being in Daiyu’s body, he was clueless about. It was tough enough to piece together where she lived from the contents of her purse and by asking the friends she had gone to the gym with. Inside her off-campus apartment, he found a schedule. It seemed she was a teaching assistant in a class that started in an hour. He wasn’t very comfortable in any of her clothes. Pants were too tight, tops were to revealing. He eventually settled on a modest white dress. He wasn’t thrilled about wearing a dress, but at least it was loose and covered his body up! Once arriving at the class, he realized he knew nothing about the subject matter. It was some sort of advanced mix of Chinese and mathematics. For the most part, he just tried to smile and nod as the students talked about the problems to one another. All he could think about inside of his head was when he was going to get his own body back! He hoped it was soon...but how?

Half Court

Dave and his friends went to the university’s gym, hoping to shoot some hoops after classes. There was a group of women already playing on the court. Dave shouted at them to get off. The women felt pretty insulted, insisted that there was plenty of room for everyone. They eventually both agreed to each play on half the court. After a missed pass, Dave went running after the ball, eventually crashing into one of the women running the other way.

“I told you there wasn’t enough room for all of us on the court,” He snapped.

“What are you talking about, Daiyu?” One of the women asked, “It was your idea to let these guys join our game when they arrived.”

Dave looked down with fear. He had become the woman that ran into him! And it seemed like his own body was nowhere around. No one seemed to be concerned; it was like he never even existed. As it seems, without his presence, when his friends had shown up, everyone agreed to one big game instead of each going half court. He began to wonder if becoming this woman was supposed to teach him some sort of lesson about his pigheadedness. Maybe he was meant to understand women better and this was some sort of lesson...

Maid Man

For years, Vivian hated the way her boss had treated her. Hugo Crump had employed her as a maid, but he treated her terribly. He overworked her, underpaid her, and forced her to wear skimpy outfits while cleaning. If she spoke up, he threatened to call immigration and have her deported. There didn’t seem to be much she could do until she heard about a new technology that allowed two people to swap bodies. Struggling to put some money aside, she finally saved enough. Then when he least expected it, she swapped bodies with Mr. Crump. He didn’t seem too upset by the swap. In fact, he just sat down and slumped in one of his large leather chairs.

“You better start doing what I say now, Mr. Crump,” Vivian tried demanding, “Or else I’m going to be the one to call immigration and have YOU deported.” Hugo laughed, “Good luck with that. It’s not like body swapping technology is exactly a secret. I have myself protected with plenty of counter technology and tons of insurance just to deal with this type of situation. I can easily identify who I really am to the authorities. And I’m sure you could only afford a one way swap, which means your stuck in my fat over the hill body unless I decide to swap back with you...which I have no inclination to do. In fact, I’ll call immigration myself, and they’ll soon be deporting your ass. Well, actually your ass is going to stay right here with me inside of the body connected to it.  You see, Viv, I always get what I want.”

Vivian was horrified.

Feels So Right

Rob had dreamed of making out with Kristen ever since he first saw her in the hallway of their apartment building. He couldn’t believe he was about to fulfill his dreams...well, sort of. The circumstances leading to this moment were rather weird. She had approached him in the hallway, offering him anything he wanted as long as he met her condition. He jumped at the opportunity and confessed his secret crush. She smiled and told him that it was now time for the conditions. The next thing Rob knew, his head was atop her body and Kristen’s head was atop his. He was a little skeptical about making out with her like this, but Kristen’s body son betrayed him. He hated to admit it, but he was enjoying this. And not only that, he was enjoying the way Kristen’s body tingled so much better than his own would under these circumstances. He knew this was weird and wrong on so many levels, but it felt so right!

By the time lunch time rolled around, Bruce hadn’t made too much progress on the brick laying. He kept working even after Tony blew the whistle for lunch. He decided to call Bruce over. Bruce told Tony that he really needed the money for the day, and he knew he was falling behind quotas. Tony laughed. He told Bruce to take the rest of the day off. He’d still be paying him for the full day, and he’d be getting time and a half for the entire day. Bruce’s face lit up. He gave Tony a quick hug and told him that he’d be back bright and early the next morning. Tony thanked Bruce for his work and said that he wished all his workers had his sort of motivation.

Time and a Half (Part 2)

Tony kept watching as Bruce continued his work. With Bruce being the only one on the job and with a much weaker body, it was taking him much longer to prepare than it would normally. While Bruce would let out the occasional grunt, Tony couldn’t help but think it sounded a little sing-songy thanks to the sweet feminine voice that Bruce now had. The whole sight was rather amusing. Tony wondered how many of the other men on the construction job were in a similar situation. When they all finally started filtering back after adjusting to their new post-Shift bodies, he kept wondering how odd it would all seem. Not that it wasn’t odd seeing Bruce with his new female body working all by itself, but who knew what sort of types of bodies the various workers might be in now?

Time and a Half (Part 1)

On the day after the Great Shift, Tony wasn’t expecting any of his men to show up. Yet he was pleasantly surprised when he arrived early at the construction site to find Bruce there working. Tony was surprised how hard Bruce was working, especially considering the body he ended up with after the Shift. He was sure Bruce’s new body couldn’t weigh more than a hundred pounds; it certainly couldn’t lift as much as his old body. But Bruce was still giving it as much as he could. He was lifting materials to get ready for some brickwork. Tony thought about telling him to go home, but he was honestly impressed by Bruce’s resolve. He was also convinced that Bruce was earning the time and half he had planned to pay everyone who showed up today.

Countdown

Nate watched the timer in the app as it began to tick down to zero. He couldn’t believe this strange body swapping app actually worked, but at least he was only stuck in Rebecca’s body for a few more seconds. He counted along in his head, “Three...Two...One...” But then...nothing. He was still in Rebecca’s body! He looked at the app again. It was flashing zero; he should’ve switched back to his own body! He had been stuck like this for a day, and he didn’t want to be stuck any longer! He tried calling his own phone, but Rebecca didn’t answer. He looked for a help section of the app, but he couldn’t seem to find one. He kept telling himself that this just couldn’t possibly be happening.

Scared

Finding himself in a woman’s body all of a sudden was something Al was having trouble coming to grips with. He was in a bathroom wearing little more than a bikini and high heels. He took a deep breath, prepared to brave the outside world when someone began pounding on the door and yelling. He became a little unsure and hid behind the sink. The window wasn’t big enough to crawl through, and it was only a matter of time before the person shouting and pounding on the other side was able to break down the door. Al didn’t think this body seemed all that strong either. Maybe there was something in here he could use to defend himself...

End of the Line

Jason usually drove home, but after a late night with too many beers at the bar, he opted for the train. He wasn’t exactly sure when it happened due to his drunken state, but he noticed it by the time he was halfway home -- he was himself anymore. Had he suddenly transformed into a woman? Had he swapped bodies with a woman on the train? He wasn’t exactly sure; he hadn’t been sober enough to be paying attention. He became curious about his new body. He shifted his position quite often just to feel the way it moved. He was probably making a scene, but there weren’t many people on at this hour, and it was late enough that hardly anyone cared about some weirdo on the train. He wasn’t even paying any attention when the train got to his stop. In fact, he continued to be fascinated by his new body until the end of the line. He knew he’d have to get off, but he could just hop on another one going back the opposite way.
