Bullied

Evan wondered how it was possible he still had a bully? He was 18 years old and a senior in high school, and yet every day he still lived in fear of Chuck Watkins. But he put his genius mind to work and thought he found a solution: a device that could swap the traits of any two people. Evan used it to swap bodies with Esther Lee, a nerdy wallflower of a student who no one ever notice.

As it turned out, Chuck liked to bully her just as much as he liked to bully Evan, except that it also came with a side of revolting innuendo.

Realizing he had nowhere to hie, Evan decided to use the trait swapper on Chuck the next day, switching his personality with the nicest teacher in school, Mrs. Torcado. This proved to be an even bigger mistake.

“Hey, Loser,” Mrs. Torcado said as she approached Evan as he sat down for class, “Where’s your stupid homework?”

“It’s right here,” Evan said pulling it out of his bag and putting it in front of him.”

Mrs. Torcado immediately tore it up, “Aw, I don’t see any goddamn homework. I guess you’re gonna have to stay after school. Say what? Maybe meet me behind th dumpster during lunch and we can work something out, eh? Be prepared to bring your goddamn safety scissors, if you catch my drift, you pillow princess!”

Class Is In (Part 2)

Troy and Amanda found Tiffany unexpectedly found Tiffany hanging out with Hannah, the class goth. There was something obviously strange about both of them with Tiffany scowling and Hannah having a dopey grin onher face. Troy knew he wasn’t the smartest guy in the world, but even he could guess what happened.

“Did you two...swap bodies?” He asked.

“OMG! Like, yes, Amanda! It’s weird, right? I’m totally in Hannah’s body!” Tiffany chirped with Hannah’s voice, which was honestly sort of weird.

“Actually, I’m Troy. Amanda and I swapped bodies too.”

Tiffany’s smile went away for a moment before quickly returning, “Well, thank goodness that Hannah is like bisexual! I was worried there for a second.”

“Aren’t you concerned about all this?” Hannah scolded, “This just sucks, and you’re taking it way too well. We need to find a way back to normal.”

“She’s right,” Troy confirmed.

“It may not be so easy,” Amanda interjected, “When it was just us, it was a fluke -- something that we could probably find a fix for. But now there’s four people swapped, and who knows how many others. We just haven’t asked or talked to anyone. But if this is widespread, reversing it could be complicated or worse -- impossible!”

Class Is In (Part 1)

Troy clutched his football in his hands. He didn’t want to admit it, but he was terrified. It wasn’t just due to the fact that he had swapped bodies with Amanda, a woman in his class; it was the fact that Amanda was so small and diminutive. He felt like he was looking up at everyone and everything. He felt like the slightly breeze could blow him away.

“I have to tell Tiffany,” Troy told Amanda.

“Maybe we should keep it a secret while we look for a way back to normal?” Amanda suggested.

Truthfully, she was enjoying this. Sure, it was weird to be a guy, and she was sure that would put her in an awkward situation later on, but it was nice to be big and strong. For those reasons, she enjoyed being in Troy’s football player body. She thought the more people who knew, the more they’d be able to help. And if they helped they’d be forced to swap back. If she kept it between her and Troy, she could hinder any progress.

“No, she deserves to know,” Troy insisted, “She’ll believe us.”

“Okay, but just her. People will think we’re crazy.”

Chemistry

“Everyone relax,” Mr. Harper told the class after a small explosion caused more than a few screams in the chemistry class, “I know these things may seem dangerous, but it’s just some smoke from the reaction. Everything is actually fine.”

But everything wasn’t totally fine. Through the smoke, Parker realized he was looking at his own face. And when he looked down to see overall and a feminine yet flat chest, he knew he wasn’t in his own body -- he was in Madeline’s!

What did that explosion do? Or more accurately, how did it do it? He was he most popular kid in the senior class, an 18-year-old athelete with a cheerleader girlfriend. Or at least that’s who he WAS -- now, he was somehow Madeline, a nerdy girl he had been partnered with in chemistry class. There was no way the stuff in these beakers and test tubes could cause a body swap, could they? And Mr. Harper was telling him to relax?

Parker screamed again. The fact that he was doing it with Madeline’s high pitched voice was just making him all the more nervous and scared. He was having one of Madeline’s panic attacks without even fully knowing what they were...

Help! (Part 2)

“When I asked for your help, I expected that meant you might be smart enough to help me get back into my own body; I didn’t expect you to swap yourself with Mrs. Lee’s husband!” Ed said.

“Well, you had left me alone in the basement as you went to store to get some more stuff. Then he came home, and I panicked!” Jeremy explained.

“So at least know what chemical compound you used, right? You can make more and swap Mrs. Lee and I back to own own bodies? And you and Mr. Lee, too?”

“Not exactly. So after he and I swapped, I tackled him in my former body. I tied him up and put him in the closet. I tried several times with the same formula, but as you can see -- I’m still stuck as Mr. Lee!”

“So you’re saying that we’re not only stuck in the wrong bodies, but in Mrs. Lee’s basement right now is your body -- one of Mrs. Lee’s students -- tied up and locked in a closet? Damn, Jeremy, I thought you were smart, but you seem to lack even the most basic common sense!”

Help!

Jeremy was always the last in gym class to leave the locker room. He always waited to change because the other guys would make fun of his scrawny body. It was the one class he wished he had with his best friend, Ed. He was just glad graduation was literally weeks away.

As he finished changing alone in the locker room, he was shocked to see one of his teacher, Mrs. Lee standing there. She was easily the most attractive teacher in school.

“M-M-Mrs. Lee,” Jeremy stuttered, “W-what are you doing in the men’s locker room?”

“Because I’m not Mrs. Lee...I’m Ed! Eddie! Your best friend!” The woman standing before Jeremy said, “There was a weird accident in chemistry class. It happened to a few of us. We all decided not to tell anyone, but I guess I could use your help.”

“H-h-help?”

“Yeah, dude, you’re smarter than me. I think if you and I worked on this, we could figure out how to get me back to normal. I don’t want to be stuck like this.”

Jeremy looked Mrs. Lee’s body up and down, suddenly thinking about the possibilities of his best friend having a body like this and being a little dissapointed about getting him out of it, “No, I guess you don’t.”

Of course, the students weren’t the only ones affected, teachers got caught up in the merge as well. Jake, the class slacker, merged with Mrs. Stoll, and ended up insisting the students call her by her new first name, Jane.

The new Jane seemed closer in age to Jake but was a woman like Mrs. Stoll. She still ended up teaching classes but was a lot more laid back in the way she did. She’d do things like wear baggie hoodies with professional pencil skirts, and loved drugs just as much as Jake had. She stayed married to Mr. Stoll, however, there were a lot of rumors about how she now insisted on an open relationship. In fact, Jane even showed up to prom with Alana, who had been absent on the day of the merge and had previously agreed to attend with Jake. And when fall rolled around, Jane continued to teach while also taking night and weekend classes at community college as Jake had planned to do.

Of course, Melvin and Jody weren’t the only ones affected. A goth girl named Lily and a guy on the football team named Keith also got merged into a single woman; she ended up going by the name Lilith.

Lilith regularly called football “stupid” (of course, she called most things “stupid”) yet insisted on continuing to play for the team. She would quickly unleash a load of feminist fury if anyone said anything about how girls shouldn’t play football. She was a beast on the field and loved flexing her muscles, and the goth makeup she wore could often be intimidating to opponents. Off the field, she tried her best to be the same sort of ladies man that Keith had been, with a particular interest in Melody. There had often been rumors about Lily being a lesbian, but no one ever knew for sure, since she had mostly kepto to herself. But the clear preference for women from the merged Lilith seemed to leave little room for doubt about what once was.

The Merge (Part 1)

Senior year was always an exciting time at the local high school. The kids were becoming adults, creating plans for college, and enjoying their accomplishments. But with a month left in the school year, an unexplained explosion would shock everyone. Technically, no one was hurt, but pairs of students wound up merging into a single individual.

People suspected Melvin of causing the whole thing, but no one had any proof. They just thought he was smart enough to pull it off, and he also won the lottery when it came to who he merged with: Jody, the hottest girl in school. The merger between the two (who insisted on being called “Melody”) wasn’t quite as pretty as the original Jody, as she now had some of Melvin’s nerdy features, but still extremely beautiful. She was just as smart as Melvin, and enjoyed things like Doctor Who and comic books. But she was also still athletic and kept up with cheerleading as Jody had with similar interest in things like fashion and boys. She had some struggles with body issues, as Jody had been known to make fun of Melvin in the past and that had now been internalized.

Math Class

Mr. McLaughlan had always been known as the toughest math teacher in the school. Students always used to avoid getting put in his class, but these days the exact opposite was true. Why? Well, about two years ago when the Great Shift happened and everyone in the world swapped bodies with someone else, Mr. McLaughlan swapped bodies with Chloe Andrews. Chloe had been set to graduate that year and was easily the hottest girl in school. Time passing had been even kinder to Chloe’s body, and Mr. McLaughlan kept excellent care of it. There was something the male students just seemed to love about being lectured at in math by an attractive 20 year old. Mr. McLaughlan used this to his every advantage.

Midterms

Juliana had never been a great student. In fact, she was always just shy of flunking out. By the time she reached senior year, there was a big risk of not graduating. She wasn’t too concerned about it until her parents issued an ultimatum on her eighteenth birthday. If she failed out of school, then they’d also kick her out of the house. Mooching off her parents was something she planned to do for at least a few more years, so she quickly got desperate. She appealed to one of the nerdy guys in her glass, Neil. There were rumors swirling around that Neil had invented some sort of machine that made people smarter, and that he’d used it on himself several times over.

When she approached him about it, Neil was flustered. He never expected a pretty and popular girl like Juliana to ever talk to him. He explained that he didn’t have the rumored device, but he did have something else that might be able to help her. He had created a body swapping machine. Before he could even offer a plan, she begged him to switch bodies with her during midterms. She knew people like Neil were in such advanced classes that he was excuse from taking them, so he could help her out without any poor consequences.

Neil realized he had quite a bargaining chip here, so he made a demand. They’d swap bodies for the midterms, but they’d stay swapped for the senior class ski trip the week after. He wanted to experience one social event in school career as a popular student instead of his shy, awkward, nerdy self. Juliana reluctantly agreed. Midterms came and went, and Juliana really wanted to get back to her own body. Instead, she had to watch Neil in her body having the time of his life on the school ski trip. It was painful, but she told herself just one more week, and she’d be back to her own body. Just one more week...

Thug Style

Tyler had taken Swap Class because he needed he credits to graduate, and he had heard it was an easy A. Only a week into the class, and Tyler thought this A was going to be anything but easy. In part, this was because of who he ended up swapping with. Tyler liked to consider himself a self-proclaimed “thug,” a badass underachiever. Yet he ended up swapping with some nerdy Asian chick. He tried using contacts to replace her glasses and wearing his own clothes - even if they were pretty baggy on his now just over 5 foot frame. He even tried makeup, which his sister described as “ghetto fabulous.” He still assumed everyone was going to laugh at him; none of this was good for his thug image. He pondered shaving his head -- at the very least it would get rid of the annoying long hair he now had. He sighed. At this point, he couldn’t even drop out of school or at least drop the class, as if he did that, he’d never be able to get his body back!

Swap Class

Ethan paused to take a break for the third time on his way home. For one, pedaling with heels was difficult. Getting off his bike and resting every once and a while just made sense. But he bigger reason was he wasn’t sure how his parents would react when he got home. Sure, they knew he was taking Swap Class and he was going to arrive home in a different body, but they probably didn’t expect that body to be a 35 year old woman! It turned out that this semester there was an odd number of student taking the class, and because Ethan was the only one over eighteen, he had to be the one to swap with the teacher, Miss Douglas. This was probably way more extreme than his parents were expecting. They had warned him against taking the class, and now he probably was going to hear it from them non-stop. Though if he was honest with himself, he was actually enjoying this body.

Magic Book

“Why the hell would they have this sort of book in the school library?” A frustrated Harrison asked as he frantically flipped through the pages of the book that contained a spell that swapped his body with Lauren.

“Maybe it’s supposed to teach lessons in tolerance and stuff?” Lauren asked in a casual manner. Unlike Harrison, she wasn’t bothered by the swap.

“This book isn’t about tolerance! It’s pure black magic! There are hexes and curses, and the damned thing swapped our bodies! If we don’t swwap back before the game tonight, you’re probably going to screw up my hopes of a college scholarship.”

“It’ll be fine...”

Parent-Teacher Conference

John clutched the lesson plan tightly in his hands as he entered the classroom. He felt so unprepared; after all, he had never taught a class before in his life. Of course, none of the students had any idea of this. When they looked up at him, they just saw their teacher, Miss Warren. John nervously looked over to his son, who was in Miss Warren’s class. He wanted to tell him about last night -- about he was attending a parent-teacher conference when he suddenly swapped bodies with Janice Warren and about how they agreed to keep the swap secret until they could figure out a way to swap back -- but he knew he shouldn’t. Janice had prepped John as much as he could, but he was having trouble enough dealing with all the feelings of being in a woman’s body that also having to deal with trying to obtain all the knowledge it took to educate a group of students wasn’t easy. He could only do his best and hope to swap back soon.

Principal's Office

Principal Harris was a little disappointed to see Jeff in the office again. With a stern look, Principal Harris lectured Jeff, “This is the third time you’ve been sent to my office since the break ended, young man. You used to be such a good student, whats’ gotten in to you?”

Jeff leaned over and paused before speaking up, “That’s the thing, isn’t it? I’m not exactly a ‘young man’ anymore, am I? The Great Shift swapped just about all my other classmates with other students, but I get stuck in Mrs. Bell’s body. I’m a forty year old woman now! I have to wear my mom’s clothes! Yet I still get treated like an eighteen year old kid. I had plans to go to college and med school, but by the time I would complete my residency, I’d be close to sixty. So what’s the point? Why am I bothering with any of this?”

After explaining, Jeff just sulked, not wanting to hear any sort of excuse of explanation Principal Harris could come back with..

Grin and Bear It

Caleb felt weird coming back to school for the first time since The Great Shift. He arrived early and ended up being the first one there. Most students kept assuming he was their teacher. He supposed it did make sense. After all, the woman’s body he swapped into did teach at a nearby elementary school. He hadn’t had any time to go shopping and since he didn’t have any sisters, he had to borrow clothes from his mom. He probably looked and dressed like a teacher instead of the eighteen year old high school senior he was. When his classmates came in and asked about the lesson plan, he would just smile awkwardly and explain who he really was -- just about everyone had to explain who they really were anyway. The day hadn’t even started yet, and Caleb was already wishing it was over. Heck, he wished the final two weeks of school would be over already. Until then, he’d just have to grin and bear it.

Brandon felt a little embarrassed after hanging out with Tony, so he stopped wearing his sister’s old clothes and instead stuck with things borrowed from his mom. It certainly made him feel as old as Ms. Huang probably actually was.

When school finally started back up again, Brandon was among those with more dramatic changes called to the office to meet with the guidance counselor. He waited as the other students went in and out. One of his classmates was now a toddler and another an old man. As he sat and waited, the reality of it all was really beginning to set in. He was a middle aged woman sitting in a high school office. He felt more like a parent than a student at this point. He knew he wasn’t going to fit in with the kids in his class anymore, and he was just going to have to accept that.

It wasn’t all that surprising that school was canceled for some time after the Great Shift. This was supposed to allow people to adjust to their new bodies. But it was hard for someone like Brandon, stuck in a dramatically different body. He found himself borrowing clothes from his mom or digging through things his sister left behind when she went away to college. Wearing his mom’s clothes made him feel old, so he often prefered to wear his sister’s stuff even if it was often way more feminine or more revealing than he liked.

By the third day, he was getting a little bit of cabin fever, so he emailed his friend Tony about hanging out. Tony, who had swapped into a blond cheerleader’s body, agreed, so Brandon threw on one of his sister’s outfits and drove over. Tony was floored.

“Dude, what are you wearing?” Tony asked.

“It belonged to my sister,” Brandon explained, “I guess it’s kind of supposed to be fun and flirty.”

“Yeah, maybe if my new body wore it, but on Ms. Huang’s body, it just seems weird and gross. She’s so old, dude.”

“Yeah, well, I am in her body, so I guess I’m the old one. It sucks! It’s bad enough being stuck in a woman’s body, but being older as well is even worse!”

Older (Part 1)

Brandon walked home from school just as he did every day. Except unlike every other day, today had been the day of the Great Shift. While most of the rest of his class swapped with other students in the school, Brandon ended up swapping with one of his teachers, Ms. Huang.

Ever since he turned 18 last month, he had wished his mom and dad would treat him like an adult instead of a kid. He sighed as he stood outside. He figured even now that he was inside of a woman’s body more than twice his age, they’d still treat him the same way.

And he could only imagine how bad the other kids were going to make fun of him once he went back to school. He heard a few of his classmates complain about swapping into the bodies of freshman, but he couldn’t imagine anything worse than swapping with a teacher!
