Alone

Few people went to the side of Exchange Island with the rocky beaches. After all, why would they? The gorgeous white sand and gentle waves were filled with all the beautiful people and close to the resort.

But Andrew wanted to be alone. He needed some time to think. This was supposed to be a temporary body for a short vacation, but there was a resort-wide glitch -- everyone was going to be stuck in their swapped bodies even once they returned to the mainland.

That meant this female body was Andrew’s now. They were still working out details about if people would be able to continue their original lives or if they had to embrace the life of their new bodies. And in the meantime, Andrew just needed to hear himself think...alone.

The Maid Clause

“Is this even legal?” An exhausted Chris asked a very tiring week on Exchange Island, “It feels like slavery. At least it’s only for two weeks.”

Upon landing on the Island, instead of swapping into the body of a guest, he ended up in the body of one of the resort’s maids. And instead of a relaxing vacation, he was immediately put to work.

“It’s in the contract,” His now co-worker Derek explained, “And you should’ve read it more carefully, because you will be stuck here for a lot longer than two weeks.”

“What are you talking about? That’s how long my vacation is. Then it’s time to swap back, like normal. Right?”

“The maid clause is different. It would obviously be hard to get people to work here permanently in someone else’s body, so it’s a rotation of guests in these bodies for six months at a time. You’ll actually be swapped out into a random body who will take over the roll at that point.”

“I’m no even going to get my own body back after all this? Are you serious?”

Indefinitely

It was an interesting problem to have. The resort staff at Exchange Island seemed to have lost Norman’s check-out information, which even included the details about his flight off the island. As such, he was stuck there and stuck in the body he was currently in possession of -- a young woman by the name of Cherise.

As such, his vacation was extended indefinitely -- at the resort’s expense, of course.

The staff didn’t seem too concerned. In fact, they didn’t care much at all. As long as they were working, they were technically all swapped too (many of whom had originally thought they would be guests), and that didn’t do too much to improve morale. Problem-solving just wasn’t a top priority.

Not that Norman minded one bit.

Feeling It

The party was a relatively new tradition at Exchange Island. It allowed people to get to know each other, help each other adapt to their new bodies, and even perhaps meet the person you just swapped with. Ryan opted to attend for one simple reason: free drinks.

The body of the young Asian woman that would be his for the next two weeks seemed to get drunk with much less effort than his own. With only a glass and a half of champagne, he was already feeling it.

He got curious if his original body was anywhere around, but he couldn’t find it -- not that he could blame the woman in his body. After all, he could imagine she was disappointed to find herself in with the dad bod of a divorced 45 year old man. Heck, he hated being in that body day in and day out, which is exactly why he came to Exchange Island in the first place.

Forgot Your Robe

“Jim! Jim!” It was his wife’s voice, or rather, what his wife’s voice will be for the next two weeks. He turned to look, hunched over with a lack of confidence, not quite befitting the gorgeous body he’d be stuck in for the same amount of time.

“You forgot your robe,” She said trying to hand him the white terricloth just as he stepped into the pool.

“I’m not wearing that in the pool. It’ll be too heavy to swim.” Jim reasoned.

“Yes, well, um,” His wife was clearly hesitating before she finally spit out, “You know I don’t like you looking at other women’s bodies.”

Jim sighed, “Whether I like it or not, I’m going to be stuck in this woman’s body for the next two weeks. Looking at it is going to be unavoidable. I’m going to use the bathroom, and shower, and even just getting ready.”

His wife knew he was right. She still wasn’t comfortable with this.

Forever Vacation

How long had he been stuck on Exchange Island? Two years? Maybe three? Roy couldn’t remember anymore. But he certainly remembered how it all happened. It started out with a fairly normal trip to the resort -- well, normal by Exchange Island standards, which meant swapping bodies with someone upon arrival. In Roy’s case, he swapped with a woman and spent his week vacation trying to be as feminine as possible. It was silly and fun for him, but he couldnt wait to be back in his own body.

The only problem was when it came time to switch back; his original body couldn’t be located. The resort gave him two options: He could either return to the mainland and embrace the life of his new body, or he could stay on Exchange Island and enjoy an all-expenses-paid extention of his trip until his original body could be located.

Figuring it would only be a few days before his original body could be found, he went with the second option. But a few days passed with no word, then weeks, then months. With the hope always feeling like just a few days away, Roy rarely worried about things like plucking his body’s eyebrows or shaving his armpits or legs. With all expenses paid, he indulged heavily in the buffet every day. But the worst aspect of that hope was probably on his mental state. Hope feeling around the corner but never arriving was driving him mad; being stuck on a vacation forever without purpose probably wasn’t much better...

Clause 13

Milo stood frozen in the lobby of Exchange Island. He wasn’t quite sure how to react. He had been told that both he and his wife Eleanor would return to their original bodies when they checked out. And it worked for her -- his wife’s normal, middle aged body stood before him -- but it didn’t work for him! Milo did still swap, but not back into his own body; he was now an Asian woman in an animal print bikini with bunches in his hair.

“Milo?” Eleanor asked.

“It’s me,” He replied, “This is awkward.”

“Well, you were lucky enough to have that rather fit young man’s body for our time here. The rumors I’ve heard about men dealing with women’s bodies that for their entire vacation is quite common. You can deal with it for a few minutes while we sort this out.”

Eleanor turned to the lobby clerk, “Excuse me, but I think there’s been a mixup. That is most certainly not my husband’s body.”

“Let me see if I can clear that up,” The clerk replied as she started typing into the computer, “Give me a moment.”

After several minutes, the clerk spoke up again, “I’m sorry, but that technically IS your husband’s body.”

Eleanor scoffed, “I’m pretty sure you can see that it’s not. What about that body says ‘husband’ to you?”

“I mean, that’s his body now LEGALLY. He’s a Clause 13.”

“Excuse me?”

“On Page 12, Section 3, Clause 13: In the event of accidental death of the guest’s original body, the guest agrees to assume permanently the new available body of another party responsible for said death.”

“My husband is dead?”

“No, he’s right there. He just has a new body...for good.”

Uglies

Theresa had to admit that she had never seem too many unattractive people on Exchane Island. It didn’t make much sense. Surely, that potential to be good-looking for a few weeks would draw a good number of ugly people, which would increase the chances of actually seeing someone unattractive.

About midway through the week, she did spy a gangly woman with thick bushy eyebrows and an overbite. Surely, this woman had answers. She first asked about who she really was.

“My name is Enrique, and I’m actually a professional body builder,” The gangly woman answered, “I usually spend my time on the other side of the island, but it’s probably good is Carol sees her body at least once on her trip. People sometimes freak out if they don’t.”

“Other side of the island?” Theresa asked.

Enrique sighed, realizing he probably already said too much, “Look, we’re not supposed to talk about it, but there’s no rule against telling you. The resort hires a bunch of attractive people to swap with the uglies on this side. We get pretty paid well too!”

“My original body is not ugly!” Theresa objected.

“Have you seen it more than on on this trip? No, right? Well, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but, yes, your original body must be totally ugly. That’s just the way it works...”

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Elliot couldn’t even react after watching Julie tear up her plane ticket and leave the airport. He had swapped bodies with Julie when they first arrived on Exchange Island. While he knew that new experiences were the entire premise of the resort, he still found being stuck in a woman’s body far more challenging than he anticipated. He had brefriended Julie a few days into the trip, and she seemed to be struggling just as much with his body.

However, it was all over now. They were the airport. They were supposed to get on that plane, swap back, and fly home. But if she wasn’t there, what would happen? Would they not allow him on the plane? Would they force her back here? What if they allowed him to leave, and he ended up stuck in her body? And, of course, he wondered why she ripped up her ticket and left in the first place. Had she just pretended to be unhappy? He didn’t want to be stuck in Julie’s body -- not here on Exchange Island and not back home. But what was he going to do now if she wouldn’t leave?

Mixup

Kenzo was a little surprised when a man walked into his hotel room. Luckily, he had just finished changing; otherwise, he might have been quite embarrassed. Kenzo first spoke with his native tongue, but seeing how confused the man was, he switched to english.

“Who are you? Why are you here?” Kenzo asked with a thick accent.

“Just coming to see what body my wife got,” The man said in a thick southern drawl, “But no need for those little role playing games to make this more interesting; that body is clearly enough!”

“No role play!” Kenzo insisted, “It’s a mixup. I will call the front desk.” Kenzo was getting nervous. He had been to Exchange Island many times, but never had been any sort of mixup. Yet there was this man standing here, who clearly had a key to his room, telling Kenzo that he was this man’s wife?

As Kenzo picked up the phone, the man began to reach toward Kenzo inappropriately. An instant later, Kenzo military training kicked in, and the man was cold on the floor. Kenzo continued to dial the front desk to explain everything.

Doug decided it might not be the worst idea to check out the resort’s gym. After all, if Exchange Island’s spa was able to make his borrowed body young, perhaps the gym could give him the type of beach body like Mark had gotten.

Working out at the gym was surprisingly easy. He was able to do things like lift well above what was logically possible and push his body without getting tired in the slightest. It would seem strange if not for the fact that he had swapped bodies and gotten de-aged already.

There was an unexpected side effect of the gym, however. Instead of finding himself with a slender figure, after a mere five minutes, he bulked up instead. His new muscles were quite a sight, and he wondered if this gym was the reason for all those buff guys Mark had pointed out earlier.

The results of visiting the spa on Exchange Island were probably predictable, especially given the name of the package Doug had purchased, “The Rejuvenation Special.” But if swapping bodies with an old lady upon landing at the resort wasn’t crazy enough, the spa had managed to reverse the aging process by a few decades. He was very thankful to be young again and not have his bones and joints be sore. He still wasn’t nearly as attractive as Mark was right now, but at least he could deal with having this body for the rest of his trip. He was going to go back to his room to change so he could head back to the beach, but he began to wonder what other services the resort might offer...

Doug slowly made his way from the beach back to the hotel, intending to ignore Mark’s advice of visiting the spa and taking a nap instead. But a pink robe had been laid out on his bed. He hadn’t remembered doing that, and he cursed the fact that his old body seemed to be affecting his mind. But he still took it as a sign to go to the spa.

It was a little difficult to find, quite a bit out of the way, and clearly not the main draw for a resort that literally swaps people’s bodies, but Doug found it. The offerings were slim, but he noticed something called “The Rejuvenation Special” that promised to make someone “feel like a brand new person.” Considering the body the resort had already stuck him with, he was very skeptical; however, he also couldn’t think of anything they could do to him that would be worse than his current situation.

Got It Maid (Part 2)

Richard was fortunate that he didn’t swap with the maid upon landing, as people who do so must work during their time on Exchange Island. But because he was swapped mid-visit, Richard could still enjoy the resort like normal. Of course, his new body wasn’t drawing the sort of attention his prior body on the island had received. But he didn’t care. He was still going to lounge by the pool in a bikini and show off his body. Feeling the jiggle of his now larger belly felt strange, but he was really enjoying this even larger chest. Plus, next time he came, with the VIP past, he’d be able to have his choice of bodies. But even this one wasn’t really all that bad!

Not So Bad (Part 2)

Doug immediately pushed back on the idea that the body he ended up with was “not so bad.” No, this body was the worst imaginable! He body was old and flabby! Compared to Mark’s body, he was a troll! Mark tried to ressure his body, but it was understandably not setting in. Finally, Doug told Mark he was going to go back to his room for a nap. He was tired anyhow, to which he quipped wasn’t a surprise given his body. Mark told him he should at least try to do something. He thought about making a joke about shuffleboard, but instead suggested the spa. He told Doug that he would even pay for it. While Doug was certainly a little hesistant for yet another free offering from his buddy after what had happened so far this vacation, he had to admit that a spa sounded nice to his currently old bones.

Extended Vacation

It was supposed to be a two week vacation, but Steven had been stuck on Exchange Island for the past eight months. The staff had discovered the woman’s body he was in was pregnant about ten days in. He quickly had to defend himself, explaining there was no possible way he could’ve gotten pregnant on the island. He barely interacted with the other guests, let alone getting intimate with one of them! After a short investigation, they determined Steven had told the truth, but there was still a problem. The magic of the island wouldn’t allow a pregnant woman to leave. And so Steven was stuck on a rather lengthy vacation. Despite the discomfort of being pregnant, he enjoyed the extended time off. Of course, with nine months now just around the corner, he was a little worried about what giving birth would feel like and what would happen next...

Got It Maid (Part 1)

For the first few days of his trip on Exchange Island, Richard thought things were going well. He had the body of a supermodel and was living it up. But in a completely unexpected twist, he ended up swapping bodies with one of the maids. In terms of bodies, it was a clear step down. The staff on Exchange Island were eager to make it up to him. While swapping bodies with a worker was not unheard of, swapping in the middle of one’s trip certainly was! It was a clear error, and Richard was offered a VIP pass on a future visit and access to all extra amenities on this trip. He was still pretty upset about it, but there was nothing he could do for now except try to enjoy this new body as much as possible.

Not So Bad (Part 1)

Mark had talked Doug into joining him on Exchange Island. Doug wasn’t comfortable with the idea of spending two weeks in the body of someone else, but Mark told him he would pay and he’d even owe him one if he went along. Doug couldn’t say no to a free vacation, so he ultimately went along.

He really wished he hadn’t.

Doug looked up at the body Mark ended up with; Mark’s temporary body was practically a goddess! Mark tried to downplay how great it was, saying how hoped to stay as a guy, and pointed out a few buff guys over all the volleyball court. But Doug figured Mark was just trying not to rub in his face how bad the body he got was. Mark tried to tell Doug it wasn’t so bad...

Law of Averages

While it’s true that when you go to Exchange Island, you have a chance of swapping with smoking hot body; you also have the chance of ending up with a body that’s truly horrible. But most of the time, you end up with a body that’s just sort of average. I supposed it was fair. My average middle aged male body went into the pool for someone to get for the week, and in exchange, I got this average middle aged woman’s body. Like I said, it wasn’t a jackpot, but it wasn’t bad either. I could still experience womanhood, and I will still having a pretty good time. When I looked around, I knew there were better bodies, but, really, there were many like the one I had as well, probably most of them. It was all just the law of averages...

Not as Advertised

After looking at promotional material, Ryan had been lured to sign up for a vacation on Exchange Island. It promised that for duration of your trip, you’d swap bodies with another vacationer; and just about everyone in the photos looked like a model. He convinced his friend, Hank, to come with him, and the two were off.

Of course, reality is rarely like the brochures. Ryan was severely disappointed by the body he ended up with. It was going to be interesting to be a woman for the next two weeks, but he had more than a few extra pounds compared to the models in the promotional materials. Though in all fairness, it all mattered who the other guests actually were, and he supposed whoever got his rather scrawny and unattractive body wasn’t all that pleased either. And he certainly was better off than his friend Hank, who was going to be in the body of a 80-year-old man for the next two weeks!
