Fear (Part 1)

Arthur stood in front of the class, trying to exude a sense of confidence. Sure, he had Miss Pultz’s body, but he certainly didn’t have her math skills. He wasn’t sure how he was going to get through the day as her...or potentially longer. It was all this crazy math stuff that had caused this problem in the first place. She had been tutoring him after class, showing him a particularly difficult equation. He couldn’t imagine an application. She attempted to show him a program she had been working on. One that, when utilized with the correct hardware, could swap two people’s bodies. He expressed his skepticism, and immediately she attempted to refute him by showing off her work.

In one sense, her invention worked perfectly. Quite shocked, Arthur found himself in Miss Pultz’s body. In another sense, it was a complete failure. Arthur’s body lay sprawled on the desk lifeless. His consciousness may have transfered into her, but hers didn’t seem to go into him. He knew he’d have to pretend to be her until he could figure this all out. And he knew it wasn’t going to be easy. As he stood up in front of the class, that fear was really starting to sink in.

Plan (Part 2)

Gabriel leaned back in his chair. He heard his wife come in the door. He couldn’t wait to rub the news of his new body in her face. When she arrived, he was floored; a smile quickly crept across his face. This situation was way too perfect. While Gabriel was in the body of a young, beautiful woman. His wife was now in the body of an elderly old man. He watched as she shuffled along sadly. He knew what pains her body was probably feeling, but moreso, he couldn’t stop thinking about how the tables were turned and how her plan was totally ruined. The Great Shift provided him some cosmic justice, and it was pretty clear that he was going to be the one to outlive her. No one was going to be taking his money any time soon.

Plan (Part 1)

Gabriel had learned two weeks ago that his wife had only married him for his money. It made sense. He was old and rich, and she was young and beautiful. But still, he never wanted to believe it. He could’ve died at any moment, and it would’ve all been hers. But thanks to the Great Shift, her plans would be ruined. Gabriel found himself in the body of a young woman. He returned back to his home, changed into one of his wife’s outfits, and grabbed himself a glass of scotch. He smiled as he enjoyed the drink. This was certainly going to throw a wrench in her plans. He was no longer on death’s door; in fact, he probably had many years of life left with this new body.

Bimboesque

Frank had been to Exchange Island for business plenty of times before. He was used to switching bodies with one of the guests for the duration of his trip. But this time there had been a mix up. He was supposed to call his wife when he landed; this time he had to give her some bad news.

“Hey, Honey. It’s me. It’s Frank,” He began, “You know how it works here.”

He paused.

“Yeah, this time I’m a woman. You’d probably tell me that I deserve the body I got this time around. I’ll send you some pictures. You’ll laugh.”

He paused again.

“But I got some some bad news. There was a mix up with the computers. Somehow my reservation got marked as two years instead of two days. They’re going to try to fix it, but they don’t expect me to be out of here by Friday like I was supposed to be. And while I usually wouldn’t mind a few extra days at this place, this isn’t exactly the body I would want to be in, you know?”

He paused yet again.

“Like I said, I’ll send you pictures, but if I had to describe what I look like right now in a word? I’d probably say ‘bimbo-esque.’”

Pick Up

Randall had spent two awful weeks stuck in the body of that filthy cab driver. He wasn’t sure why the cab was magic or how it swapped bodies, he was just glad to be free from it. The only thing he wanted to do now was go back home and relax in his own bed. He didn’t even care whose body he was in now, nor did he care as he hailed another cab, unphased by his previous taxi trip.

Of course, he hadn’t really thought all this through. After losing his body to the magic taxi two weeks ago and now that he was in a new body, he certainly no longer had keys to his old apartment. Plus, he didn’t anticipate that the previous driver took over his life pretty seamlessly. Randall overcame the first obstacle by ringing the bell and knocking furiously. He was a little taken aback when his former body opened the door. It got worse when his old body started laughing.

It all began to sink in. He couldn’t go back to his old life. He had used the magic taxi to swap bodies with some woman. He didn’t know anything about her; he couldn’t even remember where he had dropped her off. For some reason, he thought he’d be able to pick his old life back up, but instead he realized that he was going to have to adjust to a new one...

Reflecting

Louis stopped as he looked at his reflection in the window of the store display. He was shocked at what looked back at him. The reflection wasn’t his! He was a woman! How was this possible? When did this happen? He didn’t seem to recognize her, but maybe he had seen her walk by him earlier? It was all so much for him to wrap his head around. Swapping bodies or transforming into a woman didn’t even seem possible, yet the evidence was looking back at him. He tried to breathe deeply to calm down. But then his gaze diverted from his reflection to a cute little dress in the store. He bet this new body would look cute in that! He started to forget about the fact that he had a new body, and started to get excited about shopping for it!

A Mile (Part 2)

For a moment, it seemed like fate. After thinking about it the day before, Alan ran into the witch the next day on his run. He pleaded with her to give him his body back. She smiled and said he had to walk a mile in a woman’s shoes. He protested, explaining how much he had walked over the course of a week. Her smile grew larger, tell him that the sneakers didn’t count. He was going to have to wear some pumps or boots, something with a heel over four inches. Alan returned home, feeling defeated. Heels? Was she seriously telling him that he had to wear heels in order to get his body back? He hadn’t minded going out on runs with this body, but going out in heels? Was it really worth it to get his body back? He supposed it was...

A Mile

When Alan was cursed by a witch, she swapped his body with a woman’s. She said he needed to understand women better and “walk a mile in a woman’s shoes.” Well, Alan could only presume she meant that in a figurative sense. For the past week since the swap, Alan had been walking every chance he got. He easily walked ten to twenty miles each day, but yet he was still stuck in the body of a woman. He had literally walked a mile in a woman’s shoes a hundred times over, but he was still stuck. His only hope was to find the witch again and beg her to change him back to himself.

The Wrong Cup

Jason heard his name called at the coffee shop, and he picked up the cup he saw on the counter. He neither heard the other name called nor did he notice the other cup next to the one he grabbed. One sip and he knew something was wrong, but as the liquid swirled in his mouth, it began to stop feeling wrong. Instead of returning it, he kept drinking. As he did, he noticed a woman in the store wearing a blue coat. She began to change...into him.

At the same time, Jason began to change into her. Though he was oblivious, as he was focused on her. By the time he realized his own changes, he knew it was already too late. He looked at the name on the cup. It said “Elizabeth.” He could only guess that’s who he was now, and that she was now him.

He wondered if he should be worried, but he couldn’t seem to get himself worked up about it. He just accepted it. He was Elizabeth now. He couldn’t do anything about it, but he still wished he hadn’t picked up the wrong cup.

New (Part 2)

Jeremy decided to make the best of the swap. He was a woman now, and he was going to have to deal with it -- thought it certainly was harder than he expected. The hair was often getting in his face, so he had to pull it off to the side constantly. Then there was still the breasts. They were just so heavy. He wasn’t sure he was ever going to be able to get used to them. Heck, he wasn’t sure if he they weren’t going to just knock him down from time to time; they were just that heavy.

New

Jeremy didn’t know what caused it, but he somehow swapped bodies with a woman walking down the street. She didn’t seem to notice, as she just kept walking down the street with his body instead of her own. Jeremy, however, noticed right away. He slipped behind the house and then began to examine himself. But there wasn’t much he had to do. He could feel all the differences almost immediately. He could feel the breeze on his bare legs beneath a short skirt. He could feel the long hair flopping about on top of his head. But most of all, he could feel the intense weight on his chest. He started to wonder how he was going to manage with these things. He also wondered if maybe the reason the woman kept walking while not noticing was because she was actually glad to be rid of them.

Nursing Home

Sam approached the reception counter of the nursing house and spoke, “I’m here to see my grandfather.”

“Sure thing,” The receptionist replied before picking up a phone and dialing a number.

After a few moments, the receptionist spoke again, “Hang on, he’s not answering. Let me go check on him and tell him that his granddaughter is here.”

It took about ten minutes before the receptionist returned, and in that time, a smile had appeared on Sam’s face.

“Well,” The receptionist reluctantly continued, “You’ll be happy to know he’s okay, but he says he doesn’t want to see you.”

Sam sighed, “I suppose he’s angry at me for putting him in this place. I can’t blame him. No offense, of course, it’s lovely here, but no one wants to be in a nursing home.”

“None taken,” The receptionist smiled.

Sam’s smile turned into a bit of a smirk. The receptionist really had no idea. It was true that no one wanted to be in a nursing home, not even Sam. That’s why the last time his granddaughter had visited he used a spell to steal her body. After all, she was the one that had put him in here in the first place. If she thought it was good enough for him, then maybe she should spend some time here in his old withered body while he enjoyed the world in hers.

Feeling Guilty

Henry knew he shouldn’t blame himself for the results of the Great Shift, but he couldn’t help but feel guilty. The woman’s body he swapped into was young and so healthy; how could he not feel bad for taking that from her? His own former body had previous had three heart attacks and a stroke; he had been nearing 90 years old. Yet now he was able to run a ten minute mile in the park. He just didn’t think it was fair to her. The least he could do was keep this body in shape, even if the exercise was a constant reminder of why he felt guilty...

Honest

“What did you do? Why did you steal my body?” Miranda demanded.

Leonard didn’t quite know what to say. He bit his finger nervously. “I didn’t,” He stammered, “It just sort of happened.”

“Well, you seem pretty calm for someone who had nothing to do with this.”

“I’m not calm,” He continued, “But I am a little scared, but I guess I can’t complain.”

“Excuse me?”

“I didn’t cause it, but I can’t complain here. I mean, you’ve got a great body. Well, you HAD a great body. I guess I have a great body now.”

Miranda gave him a stern look.

“I’m just being honest!” Leonard exclaimed.

Fathom

“I still can’t believe I have to buy woman’s underwear now. Actually, it’s pretty hard to fathom being a woman at all. That everyone else in the world is in a similar boat thanks to the Great Shift is just mind blowing.” Simon said as he shopped for underwear with his friend, Harrison.

“Uh-huh,” Harrison nodded in agreement, “You know, everything you say is sort of hot, right?”

Simon turned sharply to give Harrison an evil eye, “You can PLEASE stop hitting on me now. You’ve been doing it ever since the Shift, but it ain’t gonna happen. I may be in a woman’s body, but I have little interest in woman things -- especially THAT!”

“Sorry, dude, but you realize you are like super model hot now; it’s really hard to ignore.”

Simon just turned back to the underwear and rolled his eyes.

Employment

Alexa didn’t know why HR called her into a meeting. She wasn’t due for a raise, and she couldn’t imagine anyone filed a complaint. She sat there nervous as Derek, the head of HR, looked over her files. Then she watched with awe as Derek’s face began to change. It became softer, skinnier, and paler. His hair began to lighten and lengthen. It took Alexa a minute to realize it, but she suddenly realized that Derek wasn’t just transforming into a woman; he was changing into an exact copy of her. It took another few moments for Alexa to realize that she was turning into him. She was shocked as she looked at her thin, manicured hands become pudgy and rough.

“You can’t do this!” She protested with her voice starting to crack.

Derek stood in order to command authority, “You must not have fully read your employment contract with us. I have every right to do this. I’m going to quite enjoy your body, Miss Stevens. Now, if you could go outside, I have a phone interview with more potential candidate for employment...”

Experiment to Explore

Wei could hear the shouts of his classmates in the gym through the walls. He knew that after school sports were popular, but he was much more interested in after school science! Today, he exploring the chemistry lab, mixing all sorts of elements just to record the interactions. However, he began to get ahead of himself, and soon a thick cloud of pink smoke formed, and then there was a small boom.

The next thing he knew, he was being awoken by a fellow classmate. The girl looked at him in shock.

“Like, Wendy,” The girl said with her jaw dropped, “How did you suddenly like turn Asian?”

Wei was a little surprised at the question, and by being called Wendy. Then he looked down. The smoke and the explosion must’ve affected him. It was as if his body had been pushed out of the lab, and somehow merged him with one of the students in the gym -- a female student named Wendy.

“I’m not exactly sure...” Wei managed to mutter.

“Well, whatever,” The girl continued, “We have to get our butts to swim practice. Coach isn’t going to allow you to skip no matter the excuse. Though I gotta admit that this one is good.”

‘Uh...okay...be right there.” Wei wasn’t quite sure what was going to happen next, but it did seem like a ver fine experiment to explore.

Figure It Out

“Okay, Mom, please try to do well on my first week of college. I don’t want to fail out before I even get a chance to go myself.” Jimmy whispered to his Mom as the two embraced.

“Don’t worry, Jimmy, I’ve got this. I actually did quite well in school before I had you. And don’t forget to try to do some more research about swapping our bodies back!”

“Do you really think I’m going to forget? I’ve been stuck in your body all summer. The last thing I want is to be stuck any longer! I want to be the one going off to college right now! I want to be young and male again!”

“I know, Jimmy, I know. We’ll find a way, don’t worry. Maybe there will be something in the school’s library that I can look up while I’m here. We’ll figure it out...”

Calculations

Ted thought he had perfected the chemistry perfectly. He would mix the compound with a little bit of Laura’s DNA. If his calculations were correct, he would end up emitting a scent that would make him irresistible to her. He had long had a crush on her, but she had always ignored him. Getting her DNA was a challenge, but it would be worth it once this worked.

Unfortunately, his calculations must have been off.

Instead of making himself irresistible to Laura, something in the chemical compound ended up turning him into an exact copy of her! He was shocked as he looked back in the mirror and saw her reflection instead of his own. He wanted to be close to her, but not at all like this! He took a few deep breaths to calm down. Reversing this had to be easy enough, right? He just needed to make the compound again, find some of his own DNA, and drink it. It seemed simple enough...

Moment

Donald took a moment to sit back and relax. He hadn’t taken a vacation for three years. He had been saving up for a trip to Exchange Island. There was some risk involved. He might have ended up in any sort of body; however, when he landed on the island, he was quite happy with the body he ended up with. It was nothing short of gorgeous. He needed a moment to truly appreciated. He put on a swimsuit and went straight for the beach. He laid down in the sand and looked up. This was going to be his body for the next two weeks. He still couldn’t believe it. This trip was worth every minute of hard work over the past three years. It was worth every penny. And he was ready to enjoy it all; he just needed a moment to soak it all in.

Waitress

David tried his best to smile and hold back his contempt. He owned this restaurant; heck, he technically owned the entire building. He should be mingling with the guests, not taking their orders. But a weird stroke of lightning had swapped his body last night with one of waitresses. He knew it would be too crazy to tell anyone the truth, so he decided to keep it quiet for now. Of course, that meant he had to pretend to be her and do her low-level job. It wasn’t hard; it was just irritating. People asked dumb questions and made demands that were even dumber. He put on a good face for it, but it was hard not to just yell in their faces. He thought about telling people who he really was, but in order to do so, he’d probably need to be supported by the woman he swapped with. Considering his body fell into a coma right after they swapped, he knew he wasn’t going to get the sort of back up he needed.

Meditation

Adam had spent two weeks stuck in this woman’s body, and he was (quite frankly) sick of it. He had tried any number of techniques in an effort to get back to his former body. He had researched magic spells online and at the library; he had talked with any scientist who took him seriously; he visited many fortune tellers and mystics. With his options dwindling, he decided to explore new age. His trainer had told him that an out of body experience might be possible if he was able to clear his mind while meditating. However, he found that wasn’t so easy. Just for starters, he still hadn’t adjusted to this female body. As he sat there trying to clear his mind, he found it extremely difficult to forget about things like the two giant breasts weighing down on his chest. Maybe this would eventually work, but it was going to take a while for him to pull it off.

Surprise

It was the night of her fortieth wedding anniversary. Judith arrived home hoping for a surprise from her husband, Franklin. However, the house was quiet. Only a dim light from outside Franklin’s study gave any indication as to where her husband was. She was shocked as she turned on the lights to find a young woman sitting at her husband’s desk. For a moment, she thought he was cheating on her, but something about this woman’s mannerisms seemed oddly familiar.

“Franklin?” She asked in a puzzled tone.

“I know you wanted a surprise,” He replied, “You’re in for a big one. In the closet, you’ll find a suit on a hanger with a medallion in the pocket. Put that medallion around your neck, then touch the suit to it. It’ll turn you into a man. We’ll spend a weekend experiencing things we’ve never experienced before.”

Judith was a little nervous. She couldn’t believe any of this was happening. For an entire weekend, she and her husband would be young again, but also gender swapped. It certainly was an unexpected surprise...

Aim

“Now, hold the gun straight, look through the sight, and squeeze tightly,” Hector explained.

“I don’t know if I can do this,” Jane hesitated, “I mean I don’t even think I can shoot this target, but you’re telling me that I might have to do this to an actual person.”

“I told you, lady, I ain’t the best guy in the world. A lot of people want me dead, and since we swapped bodies, that means a lot of people want you dead right now. I don’t want anything to happen to my body before we can swap back, so you gotta learn to do this.”

“And you’ll go to my prom tonight with Dave and be on your best behavior?”

“Yeah, I’ll be a fuckin’ stand up dame. I’ll wear that stupid pink dress and everything, but if I come back from that thing, find out that you didn’t defend yourself, and you have a big bullet in my head, it’s not going to be good for either of us...”

A Drag

Frank knew that he had promised Marilyn that he would quit smoking. And a week after the Great Shift, it was honestly his first one. He just couldn’t help himself. Being swapped into her body had just been so incredibly stressful; he needed this cigarette to calm down. Of course, when he sat down and took the first drag, he was actually a little let down. Instead of the calm feeling he usually got when smoking, he felt like coughing. The smoke burned his throat, and the taste made him want to vomit. He knew why. He clearly remembered the first cigarette in his own body. It had been an equally unpleasant experience, and he wondered why he ever even considered having a second. He didn’t expect anyone to find a way to undo the Great Shift and get everyone back to their own bodies, but if they did one day, he didn’t want to leave Marilyn with a body addicted to cigarettes the way his was. Instead of going in for a second puff, he decided to put it out. He couldn’t do that to her. He just had one, brief moment of weakness, and he’d never be tempted again...right?

Try

Roger began to wonder why he was reading all these books looking for a reversal spell. It had been three weeks since he swapped with Elaine, and he still hadn’t found anything. On top of that, he hadn’t exactly minded the time he had spent in her body so far. In fact, he was actually really enjoying being yet. Why was he bothering to look so hard? Then again, he did promise her that he’d try to find a way to swap back, but how much was considered a “try?” Surely, these back-to-back weeks spent reading so many books fulfilled that obligation.

The Case

The contents of the case were of the utmost importance, and Sergio’s orders as an undercover agent were explicit. He knew he was just one link in the chain to deliver the case to it’s ultimate destination, and as he sat on the plane looking at the small device in his hand, he knew the sacrifices he was going to make to deliver it. When the plane landed and he departed the aircraft, he left the case behind under the seat. He shook the hand of one of the flight attendants, making sure the device was concealed on his hand during the shake. He ran from the secure area as fast as he could before the device activated. Suddenly, he was back on the plane. He had swapped bodies with the flight attendant as they were cleaning the plane. He secured the case and told the rest of the crew that he was bringing it to lost and found. At first, he was regretting having to swap with a female flight attendant. He felt the heels were slowing him down and the weight on his chest was distracting. However, after handing off the case to another agent swapped with a flight attendant, Sergio took a moment to appreciate his new body. He knew he didn’t have much time to linger; he’d be swapping back to his own body any minute. He had been on what seemed like countless missions that involved a brief body swap, but this was the first time he had actually swapped with a woman. If only there was a way to prevent the swap back. He looked down at his hand. Maybe there was? If he was able to remove the microscopic device quickly enough, maybe it wouldn’t trigger the swap back, but how to find it in time?

Bruises

Max hadn’t expected being a woman would be so difficult. In fact, when he first swapped bodies with Ambrosia, he had told her that he was going to keep up with wearing dresses, perfume, makeup...the whole nine yards. She tried telling him that he didn’t have to; that he could let some of it slide. But he wasn’t hearing any of it. Of course, it didn’t take him long to regret his promise.

He discovered that it now took him a lot longer to get ready. If he sat the wrong way or the breeze blew too hard, people would see things he didn’t want them to. But worst of all were the heels. It seemed he couldn’t keep his balance in them no matter how hard he tried. He probably felt on his butt at least three times a day. If he was able to ever swap back wth Ambrosia, he was going to feel pretty bad about all the bruises he was leaving on her body!

Matched

When she saw Eric, Amber immediately rolled her eyes. Their bodies had only been swapped for a little while, but she was already frustrated about how he was treating her body.

“You couldn’t even be bothered to pick two boots that matched when you left the house?” She lectured him.

“Hey!” Eric protested, “You have an entire CLOSET filled with shoes! I was lucky enough to find one that fit the right foot and one that fit the left foot. How do you keep track of all those shoes?”

“It’s called being a woman. And you’re going to have to start doing a LOT better at it.”

“Hey, I’m trying! I really am! Look, they’re selling shoes here and I’m actually trying to buy one that matches. It seemed like a good idea.”

“You’re just making me look like an idiot...” Amber grumbled.

Predicament

The little remote had come in his mailbox just two days ago with no return address and no instructions. Zach had taken it out and experimented with it. It didn’t take him long to figure out that the small device could literally do just about anything. He could point it at two people and swap just about anything. It started pretty realistically. He swapped people’s outfits. But he soon discovered the remote was far more powerful when he swapped two people’s heads. It got more outlandish when he found out the parts didn’t need to be the same. It could be an arm for a leg or a head for a butt. As he laughed at all his changes, he failed to notice one big one. He had actually managed to completely swap his own body with that of a woman. While he was laughing at everyone else, he was completely clueless about his own predicament.

Overdue

Mike sighed. It was over four weeks ago now that weird librarian had stolen his body. It didn’t take him long to deduce that she had done so with information she had found in a book. He had begun digging through every single one in the catalog. Before any of then were checked out and as soon as any were returned, he’d double check all those. It was pretty grueling. As he scanned the final book in the collection, he had still come up with nothing. Then it dawned on him. The solution wasn’t in any of the books on the shelf, or among those that had been returned. The book with the answers must be checked out and overdue. He’d need to go to the computers and do some research, but he was sure he could find the answers to get his body back.
