Coma

Adam wasn’t sure how long he had been in the coma. It may have been months; it may have been years. Throughout it all, he could hear everything the doctors said -- their concerns, their efforts, and even their occasional insults. Lately they were talking about unplugging him. Considering his state, Adam wondered if it might not be so bad; he wished for nothing more than to be out of this hospital bed. But right before the plug was to be pulled, he had an amazing out of body experience. Suddenly he was looking at himself, and he realized he was doing so while standing in the body of one of the doctors. He didn’t want to say anything or call attention to himself. He just wanted to quietly take this woman’s body and sneak out, enjoy the outside for the first time forever -- basically just enjoy life. But before he could do that, he’d have to play up his role. So for the time being, he just looked serious and listened.
