The meteorite had crashed on the Cooper’s family farm and had an immediate impact on Harold -- his body became female! He didn’t want to assume correlation was causation, but the evidence was pretty clear. He had to wear his wife’s clothes to leave the house (as they now certainly fit better than his own) just to investigate the damn thing.
But as he approached, this got worse. It seems the closer he got to the meteorite, the stronger its effects of stereotypical womanhood became. His breasts grew larger, his butt swelled out, his hair turned blonde.
Once he was close enough, he was absolutely afraid to touch it. What would he possible become if he actually made contact with this thing? Then again, he couldn’t just leave it where it was either, as then he’d be stuck as a woman anytime he was at home...
