Just Visiting

She appeared out of nowhere in my room with a faint yellow glow. I noticed the wings, yet the fact that she was dressed all in black didn’t escape my notice either.

“Are you an angel or a demon?” I thought to ask.

“It’s not simple,” She sighed, “Your notions of heaven and hell; of good and bad; of male and female -- everything falls apart in ways you can’t imagine when you die.”

“Are you saying I’m dying?”

She laughed, “No, you’re fine. I’m just visiting.”

I was relatively young. Not many of my friends had passed. Even my grandparents were all still alive.

“I can see you’re wondering,” She said, “Time also has very little meaning once you pass. If you must know, I am you. Many years from now, I am you.”

“But you’re -- well -- a woman!”

“Didn’t I say things like gender fall apart? It’s hard to think I was ever this daft!”

Kiss

New Year’s Eve at the club had been somewhat of a bust. With about ten minutes to go before midnight, Jorge still hadn’t found someone to kiss at the start of 2026. Then he saw the woman in the sparkly top. She seemed a little concerned about something, but -- more importantly -- she seemed alone.

“I’m not sure you’d want to,” She said when Jorge suggested they kiss at midnight, saying quite a few things to try to dissuade him.

She finally relented just before the clock struck twelve, and they kissed. But when he pulled away, something felt off. He looked down. He was wearing her top, and not only that, he had her entire body! He asked in a flustered manner what had happened.

She replied calmly that she had warned him, yet he insisted. Her body had a curse to swap with anyone who she kissed on midnight of the new year. Now that curse was Jorge’s. He’d be stuck in her body for at least a year. If he wanted out, he’d have to find someone to kiss in 2027.

2B or Not 2B (Part 2)

View Part 1 of 2B or Not 2B.

It was hard for Aaron not to kick himself about using the Medallion of Zulo to end up in the wrong body. He kept trying to put on different pieces of clothing to feel better about it, but nothing worked. This wasn’t the hot body he intended to swap with and no change of clothing was going to make it so.

He thought about trying to sleep through the twelve hours, but he wasn’t in the slightly bit tired despite the late hour.

But maybe it wasn’t all bad. He was still experiencing womenhood, even if it wasn’t the first thing on his mind. Perhaps he could even still be a little curious about his less-than-ideal body. It might at least kill some time...

Godd*mn Tourists

I couldn’t believe crowds were already starting to gather in Times Square. It was December 30. New Year’s Eve was still a day away, but there they were. As a typical New York guy, I can tell you that any time someone gets in your way, it’s annoying -- and tourists blocking your path for some event is especially annoying. I wished I was here at literally any other time.

I didn’t expect my wish to be instantly granted.

I also didn’t expect it to grant it in a way that put me in the exact same place two weeks later and inside someone else’s body. I stopped dead in my tracks, taking in the fact that I was now a woman on top of everything. My mind was racing, and I felt frozen forever, but I knew it was only a split second when I heard a guy behind me yell, “Keep moving, will ya!?” Then I heard him mumble something about, “Goddamn tourists.”

Roxie

It made sense that everyone at the wedding was freaking out. The Great Shift had swapped everyone’s bodies. The groom’s mom was in the body of the Best Man; the Best Man was now the bride; the bride’s father was the maid of honor.

A few eyes were on Roxie, the bride’s younger half-sister. She seemed completely calm, and everyone was assuming she must not have swapped like the rest of the guests. In reality, it was the groom himself, Edward, who was now in her body.

It wasn’t a calculated plan -- at least not at first -- but it certainly became one. He was simply the level-headed type; the guy to keep cool under pressure. But as people started freaking out, he took notice of the body of own grandmother, who claimed she was the bride -- his bride.

He couldn’t go through with it and marry her inside the body of his own grandmother. It was too weird! Pretending to be Roxie would be a lot easier. He just had to hope the real Roxie had swapped into a body far, far away, or at least also just kept her mouth shut about things.

Family Business

Herschel was eating at his favorite Chinese restaurant when the Great Shift happened. Going from a 50 year old man to the 20 something female host at the restaurant was certainly a dramatic change for him. But while programs were set up to allow people to resume their former lives, Herschel ended up staying to work at the restaurant.

He had been going there since he was a boy. The man who ran it was now well into his 80s. Luckily, the old man hadn’t been swapped by the Shift as he was in the middle stages of dementia, not to mention frail and elderly. Basically, the only thing he did well anymore was cook. And it was his granddaughter that kept him going -- the granddaughter who worked as a host at their restaurant; the very same granddaughter Herschel now had the body of.

Herschel decided he wouldn’t tell the old man the truth; he wasn’t sure if the guy would’ve been able to understand what had happened. He just wanted to make the old man happy -- and that seemed to achieved by cooking and seeing his granddaughter. Herschel was happy to keep the business running smoothly for the old man, and he even started to learn the recipes. He had planned on resuming his life when the old man passed, but as time when on, he thought about picking up the family business instead.

Blame

Harold was quite proud of his progress on the slopes, as he had gone from just learning how to ski a few days ago to nagivating a straight path down the slopes now. He hadn’t anticipated a rogue snowboarding doing all sorts of reckless tricks that he’d be unable to avoid.

After he collision, he began to yell at her carelessness, but became concerned when his voice came out higher pitched. He looked over to see a man on skis in a very familiar coat. It didn’t make sense; he was sure a snowboarder had run into him. Then he looked down at himself.

The snowboard was attached to his feet! He was wearing the pink jacket! He was a woman! The collision must have swapped their bodies like some sort of bad anime! It made no scientific sense, and yet the evidence was right in front of him.

He could worry about blame later; right now, he needed to find a way to get back to his own body!

Re-Programmed

The helmets had worked just as Gloria had described. Ethan was now staring at his own face, and he was in her body. He shifted his body weight as he sat in the chair, expecting it to feel strange and expecting to be overwhelmed by his new female body. It didn’t.

Gloria laughed slightly as she said, “You are noticing, aren’t you?”.

“Noticing what?” Ethan asked..

“These helmet did more than swap our brains. I programmed them so we can adapt. You should be feeling completely comfortable in my body. In fact, you might be so comfortable, you might not want to swap back like we agreed. Do you?”.

Ethan looked at Gloria with a dead set gaze. He had remembered talking about swapping back; how this would just be a brief thing. And yet now? It was the last thing in the world he wanted...

Drown

Nearly drowning on a mouthful of chlorinated poolwater was a terrifying way for Everett to be experiencing the Great Shift, but it didn’t exactly get any more calming when he surfaced in the pool and got to realize he was now in someone else’s body!

Of course, even that fear wasn’t allowed to stick around for long once he realized there were others in the pool tha hadn’t surfaced yet. He had to put his own panic behind him to help.

He pulled as many up as he could, despite feeling like his new body couldn’t possibly be strong enough to do so. And he was lucky that he wasn’t alone in helping; others quickly joined in to make sure everyone in the pool ended up safe...or as safe as they could be with everyone’s bodies all swapped around.

Break In

Alec didn’t like breaking the rules. Heck, he took the job at the CIA because he loved the rules so much. But he wasn’t exactly in a position to stand on his morals right now.

Selene Dragova had broken into this very facility last night and used some sort of body switcher to steal his body, leaving him stuck in hers. When she called in his own colleagues, he had no choice but to flee. There was no way to explain who he really was.

But he needed his body back! He couldn’t be stuck in Selene’s body! Not by a long shot! She was a criminal spy! Fortunately, he knew the agencies tricks and traps, even if navigating them in her body was a challenge.

He needed to find Selene is his body and just hope she still had the body switcher still with her!

Payback

Vince lost all his money at the casino, and ended up at a shady backroom poker game in an attempt to win it back; he only lost more. But with no money left, those shady players decided they needed to collect something from Vince.

“So how long do I need to be stuck in this body pretending to be your escort?” Vince asked as he posed for a photograph on a bridge overlooking some of the casinos.

The man he was with laughed. “You are pretending,” He said, “For all intents and purposes, you ARE my escort. You will continue to be until I say otherwise. And even once you are done, you’ll still have to pay me back the actual money somehow.”

Vince didn’t like the sound of any of this.

Not Real

“It’s not real. It’s all a simulation.” Nathaniel muttered under his breath. The screens in every room reminded him of this simple fact, because it was so easy to forget -- because everything did feel so real.

The steam coming out of the locker room showers felt thick in the air, the right mixture of warmth. The cold tiles on the ground. The look and feel of everything. Even the body he now had, which was an athletic woman’s and quite the opposite of his own. He could feel the fabric, he could feel every muscle respond as if he had her strength. He could also feel every feminine aspect of this body if he so chose to.

And yet he had to remind himself it wasn’t real. He could be taken back at any time. And if he wasn’t for the constant reminders, he would absolutely lose himself in here....

Investigative

Max knew investigating the parent company of the television station where he worked was dangerous, but he had no idea of quite how dangerous it would be. When he began to uncover the disappearance of low level workers, his boss told him to kill the story. He didn’t. He kept digging.

When he discovered the workers were being digitized by the company -- to bring about a next level AI program -- he was ready to break the story wide open.

The company wasn’t about to let that happen.

They decided to trap Max as they had so many others -- into the digital world he went. And even his identity was taken from his, his formed changed. And he was trapped as a woman only in television screens and computer monitors, and if he dared speak of what he found out? Well, his signal would then just be cut before he could.

As time went on, Henry was convinced he would never be able to prove who he really was. He was just starting to accept the fact that whoever was in his body would be considered to be Henry, and he would now be considered Elizabeth.

He tried to think of the upsides.

For starters, he was a lot younger now by about two decades. Having his extensive knowledge in a young body would surely be worth it. To avoid a lawsuit, the company didn’t cut his pay either. That was another plus. And all that boring busywork? Well, he started being able to breeze through that in the first hour. For the rest of the day, he just put his feet up on the desk and played games on his phone, or he surfed the web. It certainly wasn’t a bad way to earn a living.

Forget Yourself

Stephanie was a little shocked to see her husband wearing a dress. He hadn’t worn a dress at all ever since they swapped bodies -- and it was a particularly revealing one at that. She questioned him about it, but he returned a blank stare.

Instead of answering anything about the dress, he seemed to be confused. “Swapping bodies? I have no idea what you’re talking about! I think I’d remember if I was actually -- well -- you. Stop messing with me!”

Now it was Stephanie’s turn to be confused. How did he not remember swapping bodies? Did he really forget who he was? Of course, that meant he thought he was her. It was going to get complicated if she pressed the issue, but how could he not remember!?

Escape from the Underdark

From an early age, Ghuanyl knew his mom was different from other drow. The fact that his father was human and treated as an equal was more than enough for him to realize how strange she was in drow culture. Of course, that meant Ghuanyl himself was only half-dark elf and a male child on top of that -- neither of those went over well in the underdark, no matter how much his mother loved and protected him.

When he came of age and with her own health failure, she granted what she thought was a kindness -- casting a spell that would transform him permanently into a female. His new form felt so wrong and strange; he hated it to his very core, yet he still could never forget it was done out of love.

But living in the underdark with the expectation of being cruel to others felt no better than having the curelty done to him. He decided to leave drow society and venture to the surface, to see where his father had come from all those years ago, and to start anew...

Where Did It Go?

Jason had heard tons of stories about the Medallion of Zulo, and nearly every single one ended with the thing going missing. He wasn’t about to let that happen, and indeed once twelve hours was up, it was still secure around his neck.

But there was still a problem: Where did his body go?

Lana was trustworthy. There was no way she would’ve just run off to leave him stuck in her body. His first thought was something happened, and his body was in the hospital of something. But he still had the medallion, even in the worst case scenario, he had options. He went to his apartment to look for a piece of his own clothing, but it seemed cleaned out. It looked like it was robbed, but to take clothing? It seemed weird.

He returned to Lana’s apartment to think about his next steps. He could swap with someone else completely -- as he still had the medallion -- but that seemed to brash and impulsive until he knew more...

Leg Day

I remember looking down at this body shortly after the Great Shift. My first thoughts were of panic when I saw what looked like fat, feminine legs. I had become a woman in an instant -- I was right about that part -- but the legs? They weren’t fat; they were pure muscle!

Her arms were fairly muscular as well, but nothing compared to her legs. I could feel a sense of strength surge through me, not quite like anything I was familiar with. I pondered what I could do with it.

My thoughts also raced to who I might be now; what job did she have that would require these sort of muscles? Or maybe it was just a hobby? I never did find out the answers to these questions, or who she originally was. But I did vow to try to put in the work to keep this physique for as long as possible.

2B or Not 2B

Aaron had known about the powers of the medallion from the moment he found it. He knew about it’s ability to swap bodies and how it could transform someone simply by touching a piece of clothing to it.

And so he had been preparing for weeks buying items from stores, claiming his girlfriend or wife needed a top or shorts or whatever. Of course, the piece he needed would be far more risky to obtain.

It had to be just the right timing in his apartment’s laundry room. When somone would leave their clothes in the washer or dryer and go upstairs with no one else there. He snagged a single sock from the dryer of the woman he had a crush on in 2B -- no one thinks much when a sock goes missing. He brought it back upstairs so he could wear the medallion and touch he sock to it.

And sure enough, he began to transform into a woman -- but not the one from 2B. This woman was older -- maybe her mom? Maybe her friend? He felt silly dressing this form in the clothes he had been buying over the past few weeks, but he had little other alternatives. He’d be stuck like this for at least twelve hours...

Different Problems

Sun walked into the coffee shop and saw her body sitting there in a leather coat. There was something about her own body’s facial expression that gave her the chills. In a truly surreal moment, she sat down beside herself -- or, techically, whoever the man was now inside her body.

“So, did you find out anything?” She asked him.

“I know how we swapped bodies,” He replied, taking a sip of the drink.

“That’s great, so we can swap back then!”

“That’s a big assumption,” He said before taking another sip. Once again, her own body’s expression was giving Sun chills. He continued, “It assumes that we have access to the swapping method. Merely knowing it exists and how it happens doesn’t mean it can be reversed. It also presumes I want to swap back. This past week living your life has opened my eyes significantly.”

“So which is it?” Sun asked before adding, “Those are VERY different problems to deal with...”

Pull

Tracking down his original body after it had been stolen from his was no easy feat, but now Peter was standing with a gun pointed to his former head unsure of what to do next.

He thought this would be ample threat to get this woman to give him his body back. Instead, she seemed pretty smug and confident that he wouldn’t pull the trigger. After all, she argued, he was miserable enough that he’d make the threat in the first place, firing the gun would only doom him to spend the rest of his life in a body he hated.

Peter was well aware of this, yet as he slowly squeezed the trigger, he hoped he wouldn’t have to. He hoped she knew he was serious without...

The shot rang out through the forest. Peter knew there was no going back.

The Creatures

Adam checked his device. His previous body should be just over the next hill. It was worth checking out, but it wouldn’t be the first time he lost a body.

The creates had come to Earth about a decade ago. They were rather feral and ravenous -- and also had the ability to swap bodies with animals, including humans. Scientists suspected once swapping with a person, they rarely went back to other animal forms. It meant anyone you met could be quite dangerous -- and steal your body.

Swapping back was possible, and methods to trap or trick the beasts to do so were quite common, but so was simply losing your former body. It had happened to Adam a few times now, and only once was he able to get his former body back. It was always a pain to explain to everyone who you know were once swapped, and also clarify that you were not a creature -- so Adam hoped he could recover his prior form. Plus, it was the attacking creature had been in a female body, putting him inside a woman’s body for the first time.

Suicide Mission

Technically speaking, it wasn’t a suicide mission, but all the men on the team were calling it that. The planet was the first one they found suited for human life, but a strange plant species made the surface dangerous for men, feeding on testosterone and causing severe genetic bodily changes. Adamx was part of the team whose mission was to kill the plants.

It meant he and the others would be forever changed. In fact, their transformations on the surface were almost instantaneous.

But as Adamx and the others scoured the planet’s surface, finding the plants was a challenge, even as their effects were clear and obvious. And if they did not complete their mission, their own bodies would be considered too contaminated to return...

Press the Button

Natasha stared. Herman’s invention had worked just as he described, and it had transformed that nerd into an exact copy of her down to even the little things like the outfit and purse. She had told him what would happened next.

She looked him in the eye and begged, “You don’t have to do this.”

“Yes, I do,” He said replying with her voice, “There can’t exactly be two Natashas running around.”

“Why not? It’s fine. I don’t mind. No one will ever notice. And I’ll be the one to move thousands of miles away. You can even have my life here if that’s what you want.”

Herman’s hand hovered over the button in his pod. He could transform her body into the one he had moments ago. But she was right, he really didn’t have to do that. There were other options, and yet...

Livelihood

Robert realized the Great Shift was going to be bad for his business. He owned a gym and also offered classes as a personal trainer there. However, given the bodyhe ended up in after the Shift, he had a hard time imagining anyone taking the body of a short, pudgy Asian woman seriously as a fitness guru.

He tried to counteract it somewhat by keeping his gym’s door open while other businesses were still closed down in panic mode, but foot traffic was still low.

However, he did see a bright spot if he could weather this storm. If could get his new body into shape (as he was sure of his ability to do so), he could use any sort of dramatic change as a marketing gimmick. Of course, it would be a long road to get there, but this was hiw livelihood!

Clean Up

It was a moment of revelation for Graham about four months after the Great Shift. He knew he got swapped into an amazing, attractive body in the Shift, and he had been spending a lot of effort keeping it in good shape. It was a pretty big change from his life as an obese man.

But then while doing exercises in his female form, he looked around his apartment. It wasn’t just his body that had been a messy slob, it was his entire life. The trash thrown about his apartment; the fact that he hadn’t run a vacuum the entire time he lived here; it all needed to change.

It was going to be a lot of work, but this body was nothing is not energetic, right?

And since that guy had the body, he got the office. Since Henry had Elizabeth’s body, he had to stay at Elizabeth’s cubicle. The Wait

Jared had been waiting for six hours on this bench in the park. The lights were starting to come on for the night. He had gone from telling himself that Mrs. Wong was running late to telling himself that something must have happened.

What he didn’t want to think about was that she might’ve just decided to run off with his body. No, she wouldn’t do that, would she? Granted, his own body was twenty years younger and in excellent health, but she wouldn’t want to be a guy, would she? Well, he certainly didn’t want to be a woman! And he didn’t want to stay stuck as Mrs. Wong!

No, something must have happened on her way. Maybe his body was in the hospital, or maybe she got an emergency call from his work. She could still show up and second now, and they could figure out how to swap back! That was yet another problem; they still had no idea how to swap back! That was going to be what they were going to talk about!

Indefinitely

It was an interesting problem to have. The resort staff at Exchange Island seemed to have lost Norman’s check-out information, which even included the details about his flight off the island. As such, he was stuck there and stuck in the body he was currently in possession of -- a young woman by the name of Cherise.

As such, his vacation was extended indefinitely -- at the resort’s expense, of course.

The staff didn’t seem too concerned. In fact, they didn’t care much at all. As long as they were working, they were technically all swapped too (many of whom had originally thought they would be guests), and that didn’t do too much to improve morale. Problem-solving just wasn’t a top priority.

Not that Norman minded one bit.

What a Day

Chris sat down after explaining just how the old science equipment might have caused the body swap between him and Rita, but he realized it didn’t really matter much; she wasn’t exactly the smartest pupil at college.

So he sighed, attempting to dumb it down for her. Saying that they swapped bodies due to some science stuff, and that given enough time, he might be able to switch them back to normal.

Under normal circumstances, Rita might not trust a nerdy guy like Chris, but considering he was currently the one in her body, she generally wanted to trust what her own face was saying -- even if it all seemed very confusing to her.

Still, he was only asking for a day, and she figured she could give him that....

Statistically

Marcus tried to think about the results of the Great Shift logically. In a truly random situation, there was a 51% chance that he’d end up in a woman’s body -- that piece of the puzzle made sense. And he ended up in a body that was statically younger than the 38.7 year old average. He avoided the 30% of bodies that were overweight. And yet somehow he was still disappointed by the results.

Crystal’s body was just...kinda average. There was some quite attractive people in the office like Tristian or Sandra...who couldn’t he have been one of them? Then again, how many attractive people were there in his one hundred person office? Becoming one of them seemed very unlikely.

So he kept telling himself, Crystal’s body was statistically about the best he could’ve hoped for, and yet...it was still disappointing.

Meteorite

Jason looked down at the meteorite that had fallen to the Earth. Technically, it was a shooting star, and he wondered if it would still be good for a wish even after falling.

He kept it simple, wishing for a better life. It was granted as he still looked down, though certainly not in the way he would’ve expected. His body changed, becoming more feminine in an instant.

Was this considered better? He thought about it. Yes, he guessed it was, though he still had his doubts.

He thought about picking up the meteorite; perhaps he could take it with him and make more wishes. But it was much too hot to touch. But if he left it here, someone else might take it, and he so wanted more wishes...

Trash Cans

It started that morning as an argument over trash cans between two neighbors. It escalated into a shouting match. And then at the height of conflict, the strangest thing happened -- their souls spewed from their mouths, briefly merging between them, before entering back into the wrong respective body.

Charlie was shocked to be Laura, and Laura was just as taken aback to suddenly be Charlie. All the talk of trash cans now seemed silly compared to the much more serious issue of being in each other’s bodies.

They weren’t exactly on friendly terms as neighbors, but now being each other? Being the wrong gender? Trying to live each other’s lives? Things were going to get a lot more tense than trash cans.

So Do I

“I feel like people look at me as if I’m a piece of meat,” Ned sighed from inside Layla’s body.

“Yeah, it has a downside,” Layla replied.

“I can’t believe you’re actually happy about being in my body. It’s nerdy and short and awkward and...”

“And you’re in my tall, beautiful, statuesque body, yet you don’t seem to be happy about it.”

“It doesn’t make any sense, does it? I mean, you have like the perfect female body, and I’m still not happy. Maybe it’s just the way people at this convention hall are...”

“Nope. Seriously, beautiful women get treated like this everywhere. Trust me. I know.”

“And now, so do I...”

Disturbia (Part 2)

View Part 1 of Disturbia.

Patrick arrived back at Cheryl’s suburban home to a very unpleasant surprise -- her husband had arrived home early from his business trip. He seemed friendly enough at first, but as the night went on, it got creepier.

He supposed the questions started out innocently enough. Her husband asked Patrick about why he hadn’t changed out of his work clothes, and Patrick had hoped he wouldn’t have to. He had planned to sleep in Cheryl’s clothes and go back to work the next morning wearing the exact same thing. With her husband around, that might be a more challenging plan. Then he started to get all handsy; it was making Patrick very uncomfortable, even as he kept telling himself that this guy just thought he was being friendly with his wife.

Patrick began to wonder if he should tell Cheryl’s husband what was up. Sure, it would ruin everyone’s bonus, but someone else was likely to fess up as well, right? He wouldn’t be the only one? And even if he was, the cost might be worth it to get this guy’s hands off of him.

Talk About It

“It was supposed to be easy for us, wasn’t it?” Eric lamented, “At least compared to what everyone else is going through. So why does it feel like everything is falling apart between us?”

Before the Great Shift, Eric and Sue were an average married couple in their 50s with their one kid already off at college. They swapped with each other -- one of the more basic swaps and one of the types of swaps that generally caused minimal disruption and drama between those swapped.

But things weren’t working well for Eric and Sue. Neither of them could place why. Something about being in each other’s bodies just didn’t feel right for either of them -- and their relationship became strained because of it. But how to move forward? Should they just sort of let it roll? Stay together despite the awkwardness and the discomfort. Eric wasn’t sure, but he needed to at least talk about it...

Nogged

Ethan downed another egg nog at the holiday party. He was still in disbelief about the fact that he had swapped bodies with Shelby. It didn’t even seem possible, and no one else seemed to be in a similiar situation.

When he asked a co-worker about it, they just shouted, “Someone needs to cut off, Shelby! She’s been drinking too much!”

Of course, the other piece that was missing was his own body. He hadn’t seen Shelby in his body anywhere since he ended up in hers. She’d actually be able to confirm the story, right? Of course, he was also worried that she might not want to be found for a reason. Could she have had some sort of plan to steal his body all along?

Problems

The bright light and sudden shift took David by surprise. He was in a new location and in an entirely new body. While others around him seemed to only have a slight stumble, he nearly fell flat on his face -- well, technically not HIS face. He was simply lucky that he was able to reach down the long beautiful arms he now had to catch himself before a terrible impact.

He was sure the dainty feminine hands would be scraped up by the pavement, but the mere fact that he now had dainty feminine hands seemed like the bigger problem.

And then the problems only started to grow from there. Cars began to crash into buildings and into each other. Suddenly even being in the wrong body felt like a passing concern; he just needed to get some place safer in general...

Nadya watched her own body down the third burger in a row with a fourth ready to be devouered as well. Of course, this was because the whole process of swapping bodies had made them both extremely hungry. Now that she was inside Fred’s body, for instance, she had consumed twice as many.

The scientists had explained the calorie consumption due to how much energy was used up in the body swapping process. It was one of the side effects that should pass in a few hours.

And so she told herself the discomfort of watching herself eat so much food was something that would pass, and yet the discomfort of seeing someone else control her movements probably wouldn’t. She knew that’s what she was agreeing to when she signed up for this, but she didn’t expect how weird it truly felt until it happened.

The Usual

“You want the usual?” The man behind the counter asked.

“Uh, yeah, the usual. Sure,” Jake replied. He didn’t know what the usual was. The idea of anything being “usual” right now was laughable to him. His current situation was anything but ‘usual.’

After all, he was in someone else’s body -- a someone that was basically the polar opposite of himself. She was gorgeous, thin, and (most obviously) a she. He had been none of these things before this happened to him.

And it wasn’t some sort of transformation; people seemed to know the person he was. She was likely outgoing, popular, and unforgettable -- more things he hadn’t been back when he was a guy.

But keeping up like this? It felt unsustainable.

The Cube (Part 1)

The flash of light tore through the office like water flowing through a burst dam. Things changed in an instant for just about everyone, including Henry.

“Are those yoga pants?” He asked aloud as he looked down at his own legs. Of course, even though he now possessed them, those legs hadn’t been his a few minutes ago. The tightness of the pants also made it obvious that he was now in a woman’s body, along with a quick look at his own new chest.

He tried to avert his eyes from both areas quickly, though he knew he couldn’t avoid them for very long. And as he looked around, he knew he was amongst the cubicles. This was more disappointing than the change to his body. He had worked hard for years to get his office, and now he was back to a cube with walls that only went halfway up? He was sure he could just explain who he really was and sort it all out...

Attention Wh*re

Candy was taking photos at the mall while wearing her latest outfit that she’d upload to all her social media channels later. She loved being an attention whore, yet every once and a while, a fan would annoy her. Today was one of those days.

She’d describe him as “schlubby.” He wasn’t well put together at all, probably ten years older than she was at least, but it was the words coming out of his mouth that were absolutely insane.

“That’s my body!” He said, “My real name is Candice Chung, and I don’t know what you’re doing to my body! I was quiet. I was shy! I kept out of the way. I don’t deserve any of this!”

What Candy had no way of knowing was...the man wasn’t lying. She just didn’t have any memory of the swap or of her former life as a guy. It was all erased from his mind, replaced with the sole focus of being a successful, fashionable influencer. Only the original Candice “Candy” Chung had any clue about the original timeline before the swap...

Miss

Will waited in the hall for several minutes before being called into the classroom. His son’s first grade teacher sat there with a pink dress and curly hair -- Miss Rajh. She made a comment about how Will was the only father she had seen so far, which he mostly brushed off.

As they discussed his son, a strange wave of light came through the classroom. In an instant, Will realized he was now wearing the pink dress -- he was in Miss Rajh’s body, and she was in his.

She seemed fairly confident she could fake being him, especially the parenting duties. She had gotten to know his son pretty well over the pas few months, after all.

Will was far less confident he could fake being her. He didn’t have a degree in education or any proper certification. Plus, dealing with a room full of six years olds? It seemed like too much!

Miss Rajh made a “tsk” sound with her mouth. Of course he couldn’t handle being her...

Traits

Russ was still sort of amazed at the aftermath of the Great Shift. While everyone in the world swapping bodies was one thing, it another thing entirely how so much of the population ended up adopting so many people who found up swapping genders adopted many stereotypical traits.

His own wife, for instance, now in the body of a man, loved watching football and drinking beers on the weekend.

Russ certainly put in an effort. Since he was a woman now, he thought maybe he’d enjoy shopping for clothes. All he could think about was how expensive things were, and how he was just find with his wife’s former wardrobe. Unlike so many others, he still felt like himself inside no matter what he might look like now...

Agency

The rumors were swirling online that Sun Moon was planning on leaving the popular K-pop girl group while they were on the top of her game. She was called to the agency where she confirmed those plans. The agents didn’t take it well. Splitting off a group into solo careers were often expensive and often never worked out. They pressured Sun to reconsider, but her mind was made up. The agency decided on more extreme measures.

An hour later, Jason stepped into the elevator. He was new to the agency, a very recent hire after a year long internship. Without any clients of his own yet, he was perfect for this task. He winked for a quick selfie that he posted to socials to ensure everyone the online rumors were false. Sun planned to stay as a group for years to come.

Meanwhile, back upstairs in the agency’s office, Sun was now inside Jason’s body, furious at the body swap they had forced upon her.

Stories

Shelby read the book with an intense curiosity. It seemed to be describing her own life in great detail from start to finish -- the birthdays from childhood that were distant memories, every boyfriend and every breakup, and even recent events.

There was certainly an impulse to read ahead and find out what happens in the future, but a story from about two years ago left her shocked.

It was about a guy she knew, Jackson. It was a story about stealing his body, and he ended up stuck as her -- but with all her memories and mannerisms. She was him, able to take on the world as a guy, but he was stuck as her without even realizing it.

There was no mention of ever swapping back.

Shelby was stunned. With everything else about this book being an accurate story of her life, why insert this piece of fiction? But then again, what if it was as true as everything else? What if she was actually Jackson but didn’t even know it? She had to keep reading...

Lady Problems

I paused as I picked up a piece of my sushi roll. Preston was staring, and I had no idea why. Was he getting suspicious? Did this guy figure out that I wasn’t actually Mia? She had helped me learn her movements, her mannerisms, even the way she spoke. I was going on this date solely as a favor to her while our bodies were swapped. Did I want to go on a date with another dude? Hell no. It felt gay -- despite what my body might look like right now, I still felt like a guy on the inside. But had I messed up somewhere?

“You seem nervous tonight, Mia,” Preston said.

The way he said it made me think he knew, but how could he? I tried to brush it off. He kept pressing.

“There’s something you’re not telling me,” He pressured.

Finally I snapped. With few other options available to me, I murmured, “Lady problems. Do you REALLY want to hear about them?”

I’m not even sure he bought it, but it did shut him up. He absolutely did not want to talk about that.

Paradise Lost (Part 3)

View Part 2 of Paradise Lost.

Chase had the option to return to the city, to basically resume his old life at his old job despite his new body. Instead he chose to stay. It was a decision he had made without hesitation. But why?

Well, even on his most miserable days in this tropical paradise, he was still happier than the best days back in the city. He wasn’t sure if that was because he just liked it here better or if it was because he actually enjoyed being a woman more than being a man. Maybe it was both.

And maybe it was never a matter of being completely happy, but just about being happier. And maybe that was enough.

And he could still go to the beach in a bikini anytime he wanted to. At least when it wasn’t raining.

2012 (Part 2)

View Part 1 of 2002.

The three time displaced friends grew over the years from young women into mothers. They all kept in touch as well, just in case any of them had heard of Chrono-cell technology being developed in the news.

But it was Orion who first discovered they were all actually their own great-great-grandmothers. And that meant, they’d all have to give birth...at least once.

Xavier was the first to get pregnant, Orion and Adlai had nothing but worrisome questions, and Xavier did little to dampen their concern. He didn’t like it; he couldn’t recommend it. And yet...if they didn’t? Well, the entire fabric of the universe could fall apart from a paradox.

What choice did they have?
