Appointment (Part 3)

Things happened quickly from that point. Jack was injected with something and drifted off to sleep. When he awoke, he was in Dr. Lee’s body. He got up and walked around in a bit of a daze. He didn’t know if he expected something a bit more climatic, or if he felt like he should have more time to recover, or if there should’ve been someone there to greet him. It wasn’t until he went out in the hallway that he ran into Dr. Lee in his old body.

“How are you feeling?” She asked him.

“Short,” Was Jack’s first response, quickly followed by, “Actually, I feel really good! I still can’t believe it worked.”

“Glad to hear! We have a bit more paperwork to do and a few more results to log, so if you’ll just take a seat over there. We’ll get you out of here soon.”

Appointment (Part 2)

Jack returned on Friday. He was brought to a room where he was separated from Dr. Lee by a glass divider.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” She asked him through the glass.

“I’m nervous, but yes,” Jack replied.

“Did you read all the forms? Do you have any questions?”

“I signed off on everything. I probably have more questions than I can realistically ask. Let’s just do this.”

“Okay, my colleagues will prep us...”

Appointment (Part 1)

Jack had gone in for a routine checkup, but instead of his regular doctor he was seen by a young woman named Dr. Lee. He was uncomfortable at first, because he had to admit that he found her attractive. It was a frequent fantasy of his to imagine swapping bodies with women he saw, and Dr. Lee certainly wasn’t an exception. What happened at the end of his appointment caught him off guard.

Dr. Lee showed up with her chart, humming and hawing for a moment before asked, “I apologize for this, but I’ve been working with several colleagues on some discoveries. The first allows me to read minds. Don’t worry! It’s not too invasive! And I can tune it to look for specific thoughts.”

“Uh-huh,” Jack replied, a little unsure what she was even saying.

“I was able to tell you were interested in switching bodies, which brings me to the second invention. Would you be interested in testing it out with me?”

Jack couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He had long fantasized about switching bodies with a woman, but actually being able to do so? It seemed unrealistic. He nodded.

Dr. Lee smiled, “Great, come back here on Friday at noon, and we’ll proceed.”

Bug

It had been a year since Stephen had last stepped foot in this conservatory. He never expected the odd bug to crawl out of the cacti and bite him along with a young woman named Amanda. They both fell ill and had been rushed to a hospital. Scientists couldn’t identify the bug, and the unconscious victims’ illness was mysterious to the doctors. Then it got even weirder over the next 48 hours as Stephen’s body slowly morphed into Amanda’s and visa versa. It was tough for Stephen to convince his friends and loved ones that he was now a perky-looking blonde woman; luckily, he had the doctors to confirm his story. And over the course of the year, he did his best to adapt to womanhood. But the bug was never found.

This was precisely the reason he returned to the conservatory. What’s the worst that could happen? Would he find himself in another new body? He tried to convince Amanda to come with him, but she was spooked. He didn’t blame her. After all, last time she was here, she ended up with his body. But Stephen was a bit braver. As he walked by the cacti, he hoped to spy the bug again. If he found it, maybe he could unlock the secret to how it turned his body into Amanda’s. And just maybe it held the clues to reversing the process...

Made

“I can’t believe that after how much money I spent on this vacation I end up swapping bodies with one of the maids, and the resort actually expects me to do her job while in her body. What are the chances?” Chuck complained.

“I’ve been here a dozen times, and this is the first time it’s happened to me,” Doug interjected, “At least I’ll be checking out and swapping back to my own body tomorrow.”

“Uh...” Gavin added, “I was supposed to check out two months ago, and it never happened. They wouldn’t let me check out, I couldn’t get on the plane; I was just sort of stuck with this life. I hate to break it to you guys, but we’re all maids at Exchange Island’s resort now...for good.”

Escape

In the bottom of Jim’s bag was the medallion. He decided to bring it with him, just in case he ever wanted to swap bodies with anyone ever again. On the other hand, he had gone through a lot of trouble to use it to swap bodies with Caroline. And buying a same day plane ticket to be as far away as possible by the time the minimum twelve hours was up. It was a pretty big commitment to steal Caroline’s body, why would he ever give it up? Maybe once he arrived at his destination, he’d just dump the thing in the middle of the ocean.

The Clinic

Eric reached his hand around in order to try and feel ever inch of his new body. It was sort of amazing what the clinic could do. You’d simply select a body from the catalog, you’d go into the machine, and the next thing you knew, you’d have that body. Today, Eric selected the body of a beautiful Asian woman, and now that body was his. The technology had gotten so advanced that he didn’t just look this way, this was his actual body. With this body, he was capable of having cycles or getting pregnant. It was a phenomenal achievement in science. It was hard for him to believe this technology wasn’t more popular.
