Smile Again

Ryan knew his bros were upset about the results of the Great Shift. They were all guys before the Shift, and now they were women. None of them were happy about it; well, none of them except Ryan. He didn’t want to admit it, but he actually enjoyed being a woman. He thought he’d cheer his friends up by offered to be the designated driver for a night out at a bar. Sure enough, after his friends got a few drinks inside of them, the smiles came out. Ryan tried to keep a straight face, but it hard not to be happy to see his friends smile again.

Possibilities

Adam couldn’t believe the strange device he got on his doorstep yesterday actually worked. It looked like a toy gun with a note explaining that it was a body swapper. He didn’t try it until the next morning when he aimed it carefully at the house next door. The next thing he knew he had her body. It was a bit of a shock, but he was even more surprised when his wife came into the kitchen. He practically jumped into the air and began to nervously talk.

“I-I-I I can explain,” He said.

“Explain what, Adam?” His wife asked, “Just put on a shirt. The neighbors don’t want to see you run around down here in your bra.”

Then Adam began to read some of the finer print of the note. It was a body swapper, but with the right setting no one but the person holding the device would notice the swap. Adam began to ponder the possibilities...

Early Adopter (Part 3)

Jack had nearly finished the coffee and was feeling much better. He was ready to head back to the hotel room to browse the suitcase of clothes this woman had left him with. Due to the nature of his meetings, he had requested “professional attire.” Of course, this too was a bit of hit-or-miss situation with the people you’d swap into when teleporting. It wouldn’t surprise him to find a suitcase full of ripped jeans up there -- it has happened to him before. Luckily, if the swapper doesn’t provide the requested attire, Jack can always notify the teleportation company and get reimbursed. Any such expenses are added to the other person’s final bill. It’s something Jack felt a little bit bad about last time, but he really doesn’t get much of a choice when it happens.

Early Adopter (Part 2)

Even after just one sip of coffee, Jack felt so much better. He couldn’t wait for teleporter technology to be more embraced. The more people who participated, the more choices of people to swap with, and the less likely to end up in a body that was hungover. Plus, considering his co-workers who had traveled by plane got up hours earlier and were still in transit, he had plenty of time to get over this.

He took another sip of coffee.

The hot liquid sliding down his throat felt so comforting. He savored each sip.

Early Adopter

The teleporter was an invention that didn’t catch on right away. Even though it allowed you to travel to any place on the globe in a matter of seconds and even though it was cheap, the idea of sending only your thoughts to the destination and spending a few days or weeks with someone else’s body just seemed very weird to a lot of people.

Jack was an early adopter. He had a different business meeting just about every week in some other place, so spending a little less time on a plane was a huge time saver. The selection of people to swap with was always pretty sparse. This time around, he could only pick between a 25 year old woman and an 80 year old man. He picked the woman.

After arriving at the teleporter station, the staff hooked him into a machine, and moments later, he was at his destination, strapped into a similar machine, now in the woman’s body. He felt hungover and tired. This was fairly common for people using teleporters -- to really live it up the night before, knowing they wouldn’t be the ones to deal with any of the consequences the next morning. The first thing he did was check into the hotel room where he’d be staying while in this body, but he had a more important task that he decided to tackle next; he needed to find some coffee!

Correspondent

Alan Sanchez had worked as a correspondent at the local news station for a few years now, but he was ready to quit. He was only ever assigned minor stories about mundane topics. But it was one of these mundane stories that would allow him to be in the right place at the right time. He was covering the opening of a local restaurant when the Great Shift happened. He found himself just two blocks away in the body of a woman getting married. He rushed back to the news van, called into the station, and set the camera up so he could begin reporting. He was one of the first newsmen on the scene reporting about the Shift -- even if he was doing it in a wedding dress, and even if he could hardly call himself a “man” anymore. As he interviewed all sorts of people who had been swapped, he was sure this was going to be his big break...

Don't Tell

Nick arrived back home to his apartment and was shocked that instead of his roommate, the woman from upstairs was sitting in one of living room chairs. She was wearing a bikini and tall boots. Nick didn’t quite know what to say before he spat out a stuttered hello.

“It’s just me, Bro. It’s your roommate, Todd,” The woman said, “I got this weird box in the mail. I opened it downstairs in the lobby, and there was this device inside. Karen was down there when I did. We ended up activating it, and, well, we ended up swapping bodies. The thing is in my room charging now. One’s the battery is full, I think we can charge back. Oh, but, shhh, don’t tell her I dressed her body up like this. Heck, she’d probably be pissed I changed clothes at all. It meant that I obviously saw, well, you know. Anyway, I probably should change back and head upstairs. The thing is almost charged. We could have a lot of fun with it if your interested...”

Agreement

Eddie rolled his eyes. He couldn’t believe Katie was asking again. He had refused to swap back to his own body twice already. He knew the spell wouldn’t work unless both parties agreed. He had been the one hesitant to agree to swapping initially, but once he had Katie’s body, he loved it. There was nothing she could offer him that would ever make him give it up. She just kept hoping that he would eventually find something that would make him want his own body back, since she wanted hers back so badly. She had been more than a little curious about what it would be like to be a man, but she never would have expected Eddie of all people to grow to love being a woman so quickly...

Changes

The Great Shift was a little hard for Dawn to adjust to. She had gone from being a mousy woman to an attractive, muscle-bound guy. She spent the first few months as a bit of a homebody, mostly trying to research online about what had happened to her own body with not much luck. At the urging of a few friends, she started going out more and more. It wasn’t uncommon for women to hit on Dawn when she went out. She knew she was an attractive man now, but it still made her uncomfortable. It was one of these outings when a woman came up to her. She smiled and began flirting. Dawn didn’t realize it at first, but something about this woman was different. Then it hit her. She was looking at herself, or her former self -- her old body. She was shocked.

The woman just smiled back, “Don’t you like what I’ve done to your body? The dyed hair? The book job? The surgeons were hesitant to perform that operation since I wanted it so soon after the Shift. They thought I was just being a typical guy overwhelmed with being a woman. But I like the changes I’ve made to your body. I think I made it look good...don’t you?”

Capable of...

Derek could tell some guy was checking out his butt. It wasn’t the first time since he stole Sarah’s body that it happened, but it was the first time he decided to say something about it.

“If you like it so much, take a picture. It lasts longer,” He sneered, “Or...

”You could do what I did,” His sneer turned to a smile, “You could go online, find a body swapping spell, and steal one of your own. In fact, I still have that spell, and if you are so intent at staring, I guess I could cast it again. Then all you’d have to do to get a good is to find a mirror. Oh, but you don’t want it in THAT way. I get it; I do. But stop staring. Seriously. You don’t know want to now what I’m capable of.”

The guy who had been staring couldn’t believe what he was hearing, but he knew he didn’t want to mess with this chick...er, dude? He quickly ran as fast as possible in the other direction.

In the Way

Mack had awoken from his nap with an odd feeling, a strange weight on his chest, and a pain in his back. It didn’t take him more than a minute to realize he was no longer in his own body. A television was fortunately on, and he quickly learned about the Great Shift from news reports. He sighed. He was obviously affected, much like the rest of the world, by the body swapping event. He was sure he could deal with being a woman. He wasn’t sure he could deal with being one with such massively oversized breasts. They were comically large, and now they were his. And, of course, they got in the way of just about everything he tried to do...

Searching

“She’s not picking up my phone,” Rick said nervously.

“Wait, I think I see us,” Josh pointed, “I think our bodies are over there.”

“Are you sure? I don’t see us.”

“No, I’m not sure. I’ve never looked for myself in a crowd before! And I’ve never had to walk in heels before either. And, of course, I’ve never been a woman before. But we’re never going to able to swap back until we find Janice and Kelly with our bodies. I don’t why they’re not picking up, but if they think they can just run off with our bodies, they’ve got a lot to learn. You can keep calling if you want, but I’m going to do some searching...”

Gotcha

Harold couldn’t remember the last time he saw a phone booth. It was such an out-of-place sight that he just had to go inside. The phone was off the hook and the dial tone seemed unreasonably loud. He picked it up and heard a voice on the other end. It only said one word, “Gotcha.”

The next thing Harold knew, he felt a sharp pain in his side. Then the pain overcame his entire body. He blacked out for a moment.

But another moment later, he opened his eyes again. He felt...different. As he stumbled out of the booth, the changes to his body became apparent. He was a woman now with blond hair and pouty lips. He wore tight shorts and gold boots as well as a top that revealed his bellybutton. As much as he knew this was wrong, he didn’t feel out of place. The booth may have transformed him, but it also made him feel like the changes were normal...

Brent couldn’t help but feel really gross. It wasn’t just from the pool’s chlorine, but also the way Ellen had just looked at him. In one sense, it knew it was just his wife looking at him. But in another sense, it felt like it was a creepy old man staring at him. He didn’t want to have to spend the next two weeks with an old man cuddling him at night. He wished Ellen was in the body of a young guy with strong arms who could grab his...whoa! Brent realized he was fantasizing about guys and guys doing things to him. He not only had this body, but he must also have this body’s desires. And those desires were just starting to make him feel quite uncomfortable.

Brent put on some high heels and wen down to the pool. He returned several hours later to find that Ellen was no longer resting in the bed. He soon heard a toilet flush and the bathroom door open. He felt weird as Ellen stared at him, so he grabbed a coat and tried to cover up, even though he was still wearing his swimsuit.

“What’s wrong?” Ellen asked.

“The way you’re looking at me; it makes me feel uncomfortable,” Brent replied.

“Can’t a wife look at her husband?”
Brent blushed, “It’s not like that. It can’t be like that.” He paused. “I need to shower before dinner.”

Then he rushed into the bathroom and locked the door.

Brent couldn’t help but smile a little bit as he turned his head to hear his his yell. Ellen shuffled into the room with a scowl on your face.

“How are you enjoying your new experience?” He asked her jovially.

“Shut up,” Ellen replied with a hoarse voice that perfectly fit with the body of the 80 year old man she now was.

“Come on, you were the one who booked this trip. You were the one who insisted we come no matter how many times I asked to cancel. Now it looks like you’re just going to have to make the best of it.”

“I just want to rest. This body is old and tired. My joints hurt; my whole body hurts.”

“Okay, you rest for a bit. I’ll go hit up the pool, and I will come back and check on you. Then we’ll go have dinner or something together. It’ll be fun; I’m sure,” Brent smiled, trying to make the best of his wife’s awkward situation while not wanting to spoil his own opportunity.

Trip

When Ellen had first mentioned to her husband about where she booked their vacation and what when on there, he was a little apprehensive. Brent didn’t exactly the idea of spending two weeks in the body of a random stranger while someone else would be spending time in his body. Ellen kept telling him to relax, that things would be fine, and it would be opening him up to all kinds of new experiences. It didn’t get any better as the date of the trip approached. Brent kept begging Ellen to cancel, go somewhere else instead, or just stay home. She kept insisting. The flight was tense. Brent just kept thinking about how in a few hours, he’d be stuck in someone else’s body. His heart raced faster on landing. It wasn’t until a little after check-in that it finally happened; Brent was now in a different body. The immediate change was obvious, but once in his room, he rushed to the bathroom in order to get a closer look. He couldn’t believe a different face now looked back at him from the mirror. She was an Asian woman, probably in her early 20s. She seemed to be ready to hit the pool or beach right away, judging from the swimsuit under her dress. Brent didn’t see much reason to change her plans as he removed the dress. Now that he was just wearing a swimsuit, he returned to obsess in the mirror for just a bit longer. This was still so weird. That’s when he heard his wife call out from the other room...

Perfect Housewife

As soon as the door opened, Carl turned around like clockwork. “How was your day, Dear?” He asked robotically with a smile, “Dinner is on the table. I hope you enjoy it.”

Despite his outward appearance, on the inside he was screaming. He hated every minute of this. In order to teach him a lesson, his wife had used a magic spell to swap bodies with him. But it wasn’t just that. The spell had another element to it, it forced him to act like a stereotypical “perfect housewife.” Each day he had to clean, cook, grocery shop, and take care of the kids. When Allison came home in his body, he had to smile and be submissive. He only had a few moments each day when he could relax and be himself, and it was driving him nuts.

Allison, on the other hand, was having trouble telling if Carl had truly learned his lesson or if he was actually beginning to enjoy himself. After all, because of the spell, anytime she asked how he felt, he could only reply with things like “wonderful” and “just happy to be your loving wife.” She was ready to swap back, but she did want to make sure he would never underappreciate her role again...

Framed

Peter sat down at a table and looked at the sad meal in front of him, then he looked around the rest of the cafeteria with several guards at each entrance. He couldn’t believe he was going to spend the next two years here in prison for a crime he certainly didn’t commit. Of course, he knew his story was pretty unbelievable. If he hadn’t happened to him, he probably wouldn’t have believe it either. This woman had just robbed a store and was being chased by the cops. She bumped into him and somehow ended up swapping bodies with him. The next thing he knew, he was in her body in cuffs being thrown into the back of a squad car. Peter kept trying to explain the body swapping. His lawyer had even tried arguing insanity because of it. No one believed Peter about the body swapping, and now he was in jail for the crime this woman committed. It didn’t seem in the least bit fair, but he had no way of proving the truth...

Long Hair

The first thing Jason noticed was the long hair. How could it not be? It was getting in his face and in his eyes. He pulled it aside with a slight sneer. What the heck was going on here? How did his hair suddenly grow out so long? While that might have been the first change he noticed, it was far from the only one. It would take a few more minutes before he noticed that his entire body was different, not just his hair. In fact, thanks to the Great Shift, Jason had swapped bodies with a woman. He’d not only have to deal with long hair, but periods. An bras. And panties. He’d been getting a whole new perspective on life. Long hair was just the start of his problems...

Hesitation

Max picked up the ringing cell phone with a slight hesitation.

“Hey,” He said, which was followed by a long pause as the person on the other end of the phone talked.

“I don’t know whose phone this is. Hell, I don’t even know who I am right now. Suddenly, I just ended up in the body of some chick, then her phone started ringing.”

He paused again.

“Oh, so this body’s yours? Look, I ain’t the one responsible for all this, so you don’t gotta yell at me, okay? Trust me, the last thing I want is to be some babe in a short skirt. Honestly, I just feel weird right now.”

Consciousness

Artie was feeling pretty proud of himself. He had just used his latest invention to send his consciousness halfway across the country and into another person’s body. He had no way to aim the thing, so the woman whose body he was now inside of was an unwilling participant. And, of course, he had no way to return his consciousness without his machine, so he’d have to just take this body, get in a car, and start driving. It was going to be a little weird to spend the next couple days inside someone else’s body, particularly a woman’s, but he was just so glad his invention worked. It was going to be revolutionary; he just needed a way to sell or market this thing.

Worth Every Penny (Part 2)

In the distance, Kevin could hear screams of joy and fear from the beach. Another group must have just arrived and discovered their new bodies. He hadn’t interacted with anyone else so far; he had just been enjoying himself in private. He thought about going over, leaving his little bungalow and seeing how people were coping. He wondered why anyone would visit Exchange Island for a random swap. Then again, he figured he should consider himself lucky. If people didn’t pay for the random ones, there was little chance he’d be able to upgrade in order to choose. He decided that maybe he didn’t want to go mingle with any of them after all. He had everything he wanted to experience about this vacation right here...

Worth Every Penny

Always pay for an upgrade; that was Kevin’s motto when he went on vacation. He knew he could afford it, so why not pay for the absolute best options? This seemed to be particularly relevant on his trip to Exchange Island. An upgraded pass meant he not only got a private bungalow right on the ocean, but it also meant he was able to pick which body he swapped with, instead of switching at random. He hadn’t expect to pick a woman’s body, but when he was going through the photos the resort had sent to him, something about her just grabbed him. As he sat outside his bungalow with the cool ocean air blowing across his skin, he knew the extra money was well worth it.

Maid of Honor

After the reception was over, Jason went into the Bride’s Room to wait for his sister, Mary. He couldn’t believe she had talked him into all of this. On the morning of her wedding, she had called him up crying. Something had happened to her Maid of Honor, and it seems she would have to miss the wedding. Jason groggily told her he would help out in any way he could. This caused Mary to perk up. She rushed over to his hotel and brought a pink dress and a cheap looking medallion. She told him to place the medallion on his neck and then touch the dress to it. Jason couldn’t imagine why she was asking this of him, but he didn’t want to upset his sister on her wedding day. The next thing Jason knew, his body was growing breasts and getting much more feminine. No, it wasn’t just feminine; he was becoming a female. Mary instructed Jason to put on the dress, then proceeded to explain all about the Medallion of Zulu. Basically speaking, if you touched an unused piece of clothing to it, your body would transform to fit the clothes. In this case, Jason’s body transformed into a woman’s that perfectly fit the dress meant for Mary’s Maid of Honor. He then joined his sister as they both got their hair and makeup done before heading off to the big ceremony.

Other than being hit on a few times by a few of the groom’s creepy friends, Jason didn’t find his time at the wedding as a woman all that bad, but he still longed to get his body back. Hence, why he ducked out right after the reception to meet his sister in the Bride’s Room. But after a hour, she was still a no-show.

Finally, one of the other bridesmaids arrived. She explained that Mary’s new husband had surprised her, taking her immediately off on a month-long honeymoon. Jason was floored. He was going to be stuck like this for the next month until his sister got back? Uh oh...

Celebrity

It had well over two years since the Great Shift, and it surprised Luke that people still cared about what he did. Sure, he swapped into the body of a celebrity; he understood why people were interested at first. But he had no desire for fame. He kept doing his old job as a bartender and kept a low profile. Still, once and a while, a former fan would pop up or a camera would try to ambush him for an interview. When he got a tattoo, he couldn’t believe the stories that popped up in the papers. The same thing happened after he gained a little weight.

It was weird.

He had no desire to be famous, but he guessed being swapped into a famous body meant that he didn’t have a real choice. People were really interested in “Where are their bodies now” stories in the media. There were certainly plenty of folks who milked that opportunity to its fullest. Luke just happened to not be among them. All he wanted was some peace and quiet.

Colin was glad his other former teammates were much more supportive than Jerome. Of course, many of them ha to be. When Tyler arrived on the field, he was glad to see a smile on his face. Colin just had to smile back. Tyler probably had among the worst luck of any player. He had swapped with a fan in the crowd, an 80 year old woman. He had gone from being a fit, young man to needing a walker and an oxygen tank. Tyler seemed to be in good spirits today though.

Then there was Justin, who was now in the body of a baby. It took a few days for anyone to even figure out what body Justin had swapped into. And of course Justin came with Kyle, who had swapped into the body of Justin’s mom. And when Kyle needed to feed Justin, the only one who made an sort of comment was (of course) Jerome. Colin sort of wish Jerome had swapped with someone, just to get a taste of what he seemed to be enjoying dishing out. What he didn’t know was that Jerome had, in fact, swapped, but the person inside Jerome’s body was doing a great job pretending he hadn’t...

The conversation was soon interrupted by Jerome, one of Colin’s teammates who hadn’t been Shifted, “Naw, man, get back on the field.”

“I really don’t think I can play ball like this,” Colin stammered.

“Who said anything about playing ball? Go down to the locker rooms, grab some pom poms and one of those short skirts, come on out here, and shake that ass.”

Colin tried to smile, but it was forced. He felt quite uncomfortable. He finally muttered out an answer, “I have no clue how to do any of the choreography.”

“Ain’t nobody care about the choreography, Man. People who come to the game just want to see pretty girls dance on the sidelines. And whether you want to admit it or not, that’s what you are now. You ain’t a ball player no more, so don’t even try to front...”

“Hey, Colin, heads up!”

Colin turned to the familiar voice, but soon found a buzzing football in his face. He caught it with a smile as he saw his old teammate, Patrick. Of course, inside Patrick’s body was another one of his teammates, Martin.

“Nice catch, Bud,” Martin said.

“I still got my skills. Plus, this body is still pretty athletic. She was a cheerleader, you know?”

“With reflexes like that, you could probably still play this week, Man.”

Colin laughed, “Yeah, right. This body is about 100 pounds when wet. I’d get crushed out there.”

“You seen some of the other guys who have opted in this week? It’s going to be a crazy one.”

“I’ll pass. I’d prefer not to spend the next few weeks in intensive care.’

Sideline (Part 1)

It was last Sunday when the Great Shift struck and Colin went from being a rising star in the world of professional football to being on the sidelines -- quite literally. Moments after catching a game-winning touchdown, he swapped bodies with one of the cheerleaders. The whole stadium had erupted in chaos. Colin realized he had it pretty good. Sure, he wasn’t going to be a star athlete anymore, but he had a few million in the bank that could easily float him for the rest of his life; he was still young and healthy. He was sure many in the crowd weren’t so lucky. Even those now in the bodies of people on the field seemed mostly scared and confused.

A few days later, the team’s owner called him up. Colin explained that his new body wasn’t suited for the sport anymore, but he was welcomed back to watch from the sidelines anytime he wanted. Despite the chaos of the Shift, the league didn’t plan on skipping a single week. Colin decided that he wouldn’t either and showed up early to greet many of his former teammates and friends. He didn’t imagine the stands would be all that full this week. People likely still wanted time to adjust to their new bodies. Colin honestly didn’t mind his; in fact, he felt like he adjusted pretty well already...

How to Dress

Olivia had given Jason plenty of instructions about how to dress for work after the two had swapped bodies. She told him to be professional yet feminine, to wear makeup and heels, to show a little leg with a skirt. After getting ready in the morning, Jason just felt silly. Olivia had shown him how to put on makeup, but he wondered if when he did it himself, it was a little thick. He picked out a silk blouse because to him it seemed professional, but he made sure it was pick because that seemed feminine. He felt the skirt was a little short, but she had said to show a little leg. He also figured since she told him heels that the higher they were, the better. When he walked into Olivia’s office, he turned more than a few heads, most of whom couldn’t believe the way she was dressed. He overheard a couple of rude comments, but Jason just figured that came with being a woman. The whole day was just awkward for him. Of course, Olivia wasn’t doing much better going to work at a construction site in Jason’s body. She made him look more like one of the Village People instead of a worker. They could both only hope to swap back soon...
