Steven smiled, pretending to be in on the joke, “Yeah, just kidding. It’s just me, uh, Sarah, being Sarah.” He struggled a bit to call himself Sarah, “Let’s go home.”

The car ride was quiet. It was like the man was mad at him. He pulled up to a house and Steven was about to get out when the man stopped him.

“You should really stop messing with me like that,” He said.

Steven stared back blankly. “You know I like you. You need to stop teasing me.” Then he placed a kiss straight on Steven’s lips. Shocked, Steven ran out of the car and up to the house.

Alone (Part 2)

Steven darted out of the back room. He didn’t see his own body or this woman’s anywhere. Breathing a bit of a sigh, he exited the store, hoping to find a place to be alone. Before he could get anywhere, a man stopped him.

“Where are you going?” The man asked.

Steven tried to think, “Uh, home, I guess.”

“I don’t know how you plan on getting there without me, Sarah. I’m your ride.”

“Riiiiight, so are we....dating?” The man laughed, “What’s gotten into you today?”

Alone

When Steven had first been given the magic wand by his grandmother, he had a hard time believing it was actually magic. But she had seemed so sincere, telling him he just needed to wave it and magic would happen. He first attempted to do it in front of her, but nothing happened. She smiled and told him he needed to be alone for any magic to work. He didn’t think about it again until he found himself alone in the stock room at work. Taking a little extra time to goof off in the back room wasn’t uncommon. He pulled out the wand, and that was apparently enough of a wave as shocks flew out the end. The next thing he knew, his body was transformed. He was now -- a woman! He rushed to a mirror in the employee break room. He recognized her; she was upfront shopping. Or at least she was. Had he simply transformed into her or had he swapped bodies with her? Was she now up front in his body shopping? If he was now her double, wouldn’t she be freaked out to see herself emerging from the back? He decided he should change back. He pulled out the wand again, but nothing happened. He started to panic until he heard a toilet flush in one of the stalls -- it wouldn’t work because he wasn’t alone anymore. That had to be it, right? He just needed to find some place where he could be alone, then he could get back to normal. He was sure of it.

Going to Be Fun

Carl had been initially upset after swapping bodies with Amanda. She would bug him about everything. What to wear, what he could or couldn’t do. But it didn’t take him long to discover an upside by simply not doing it. She told him to take an umbrella so that her hair wouldn’t get messed up in the rain. When he didn’t, he soon found Amanda running after him, holding an umbrella over his head. He tried not to smirk as she sulked. This was going to be fun.

Moving

Gavin stood outside his apartment as the movers headed in and out, loading up the van. If this had been two months ago, Gavin could’ve done this all himself. Of course, two months ago, there would’ve never been a reason for him to move. That was before the Great Shift, the massive worldwide body swapping event that caused him to end up in the body of a woman. His wife had a new body as well, but she remained female. At first, their relationship stayed mostly the same. But as the weeks passed, Gavin began to embrace his new femininity more and more. It started with a few little things; Gavin saw a cockroach in the kitchen and shrieked. He began to put on make up, dress in high heels and skirts, go the beauty salon and get manicures, and so on. The thing that finally ended it was when she realized how much Gavin really wanted to be with a man.

So now Gavin stood outside, truly ready to begin his new life after the Shift. He thought about helping out the movers for a minute -- sort of remembering a little piece of his old self -- then he thought he might break a nail, so he just stayed watching.

Summertime

William sighed as he slouched in his chair. This was supposed to be the best summer of his life before heading off to college in the fall. Instead, thanks to the Great Shift, he was stuck in one of the bodies of his former high school teachers. He knew it could have been worse; he could’ve swapped with one of the teachers about to retire. Instead, he was only about fifteen to twenty years older than he had been. Still, he was a little jealous of his classmates, most of whom had just swapped with other students. They all sort of treated him like a parent anytime they hung out these days. No matter how much they all knew otherwise, it was hard to treat him like who he was instead of who he looked like. He just hoped someone found a way to reverse this whole body swap thing before summer was over. He didn’t want to start college in this body!

Hard to Explain

Lawrence had been sitting his den for the three hours, waiting for his wife to come home and trying to think of what he was going to say to her. He wasn’t sure how he had swapped bodies with the random woman on the street, but how was he going to explain who he really was to his wife? Luckily, he got home first. Instead of changing out of the highly feminine clothes she wore, he just sat and thought. His heart beat faster as he heard the front door open and close. He still hadn’t come up with something good to say to her. He sat frozen until he heard his wife speak, “Honey, I’m home.” But the voice wasn’t hers. It was lower pitched; it was a man’s voice. If she had swapped too, maybe this might not be so hard to explain.
