Dave returned to the equation the next morning, giving it one last look. At some point, he had resigned himself to being stuck in Andrea’s body. He accepted that -- but he still loved a challenge. And this equation was certainly the biggest one he could think of. Being slightly more relaxed and accepting, he found he was able to fill in a few more variables. But there was still too much that stumped him. He ultimately gave up and began to erase everything, proving to himself that he fully accepted that he was now Andrea and that there was no hope of going back to his own body.

Better Look

Carl leaned in closer to the mirror in order to get a better look. He still couldn’t believe the face looking back at him. He had felt the change as soon as it happened -- how could one not notice one’s body being completely different -- and he ran to the restroom. He had to think for a minute about which to go in. His instinct was the men’s room, but he ultimately decided on the women’s room based on his current gender. It seemed absolutely crazy that he could’ve suddenly switched bodies, but the delicate features reflecting back at him were undeniable!

Talia agreed. Finding the others should be there top priority. However, as she placed Kurt’s feet back on the ground, the two of them found themselves in a very awkward position. It almost felt...romantic. They locked eyes, and they began to move closer and closer to each other. Kurt felt like this was wrong. Sure, it was Talia inside his body, but it still felt like he was about to kiss a guy. At the same time, he found that he just wasn’t able to control himself as he moved his lips closer to Talia’s...

Polar Opposite

Irving had been a little hesitant about going to his college’s gym. After all, gyms weren’t really for guys like him. Gyms were for jocks; he was a computer science major, a nerd in every sense of the word. But he also knew he was in poor shape. He had probably stared at that treadmill for ten minutes before he finally decided to step on. And it was at that instant when a weird white light overcame the entire gym. Suddenly, he was back in the locker room, except it was now the women’s locker room. At first he panicked, thinking someone had shoved him inside, but then he looked down at his now very female body. A quick inspection in the mirror and he knew whose body he was now in. Her name was Ashley. She was popular, a member of one of the sororities, and his polar opposite in so many ways. A smile came across his face. He didn’t know what caused this swap, but he thought he just might enjoy its results.

Five Minutes

Carter was going to hate himself for admitting it, but Suzanne was right. She had gone to a rather extreme length to prove her point. It was a simply argument. Carter claimed women had it so easy in life; Suzanne protested. Finally fed up with him, she cast a spell that swapped their bodies. Carter could barely stand five minutes in her body. He hated how tight her pants felt, he hated the pinching feeling of her shoes and her bra, he hated having to carry a purse instead of being able to put his wallet in a pocket. He was ready to walk right back over to her and admit his defeat, to explain that he was wrong and she was right. But she was no longer there! He’d be stuck until he found her! He dug through her purse to look for her phone, but she must have taken it with her! He didn’t know what he was going to do!

“There’s no medical way for me to prove that you are who you are,” The doctor sighed as he continued to examine Jack, “I can’t simply write a note to your boss explaining who you are, but I have an offer...”

The doctor paused.

“...I can employ you here at the clinic. On paper, you’ll be a receptionist. You will have to do the work, but the pay is good. And there’s a bonus. I also work on studies at a local hospital. I can specialize a study just for you. I can dedicate time and resources into exploring just what has happened to you here and put a call out to others who may be in a similar situation. There would be a small payment involved in that as well. I don’t know how much you made at your old job, but between those two things, hopefully it’s enough. And by keeping you close, we can maintain these examinations.”

Jack thought about it before letting out a smile, “It sounds good. Thank you.”

Entire Week (Part 2)

Russel had only been swapped with the model for a few hours, but he already knew that he didn’t want to go back to his own body at the end of the week. He needed to craft a scheme to keep this body for good. His first choice was simply to flee the country. He was sure he could dig up enough money to afford a last minute plane trip, but where could he go that the company would never find him -- yet still offer him a reasonably comfortable living? That was the tougher question. He had done his research. The company had its reach across the globe. If he didn’t pick carefully, they’d just drag him into a local office, and he’d be back in his own body on schedule. But if he could elude them...he could stay in this body forever.

It's Like Having a Sister

“I can’t believe we’re doing this!” Carla exclaimed, “It’s like having a sister! It’s so much fun!”

“It’s NOT fun,” Marco protested, “And I’m your boyfriend NOT your sister. I wouldn’t even be a girl except for the fact that the Great Shift swapped me into your friend Stephanie’s body!”

“And Stephanie never lets me do stuff like this with her! Now, close your eyes.”

Marco reluctantly obliged, “You owe me when they figure out a way to switch everyone back.”

Carla’s eyes rolled. He never paid attention to the news. Everyone had long given up on reversing the Shift.

Motel

William exited the motel room, walking awkwardly on the heels strapped to his feet. He had woken up in a strange place in an even stranger body. Luckily, the motel had a TV that got some local news channels, which were all reporting about some body swapping phenomenon called “The Great Shift.” Knowing that he wasn’t the only one trapped in the wrong body was a bit of a comfort to him. However, considering his surroundings and the way he was dressed, he didn’t want to think too much about this new body of his. He just wanted to focus on how to get back home and reclaim his own life.

Same Here

“I saw our bodies walk in here. Those women that stole them have to be in here somewhere,” Brett explained to his friend Owen.

“I hope so, but what do we do if we find them? We have no idea how they switched bodies with us, and we certainly don’t have any way of switching back.”

“We’ll force them to.”

“How?”

“I haven’t figured that out yet, but I certainly know that I am not going to go through the rest of my life as a blond woman who runs around in skimpy pink clothing.”

“That skimpy pink clothing is what drew you to her at the last club. Then you had me, as your wingman, entertain her friend...and the next thing we knew, they had stolen our bodies and placed us in theirs somehow. You’ve got to learn to control your desire, man.”

“Well, if I don’t get my body back, I might not have any of my typical desires at all. I’d hate to tell you some of the things this body is feeling when I look at people.”

“Same here, man. Same here.”

Alone (Part 1)

Peter hadn’t seen a person for hours. The streets seemed to be abandoned, the radio and television had been nothing but static. He drove a car that he had found on the side of the road to the largest radio station in the area. It was empty as well. The equipment had been left on; he knew it was working as he stepped up to the microphone.

“Hello,” He stated, “If anyone is out there, I am at the KAAW studios on Main Street. I seem to be the only one. I am the only person I have seen all day. When I look in the mirror, I see a face that is not my own. I am in the body of a stranger. I do not know her name. I do not know her face. I haven’t seen anyone else all day. I am just trying to see if there is someone else out there. Anyone else...If there is, are you in the same situation as me? Are you also trapped in someone else’ body? If you are, or even if you are not, it would just be nice to hear someone else’s voice right now. I want to know I am not alone...”

Tip

Both Don and Tamera worked as bartenders at a pub. The two often had contests to see who could pull in more tips each night. With a casual sigh, one night Don told Tamera that he was surprised he ever won their little tip game. After all, everyone would always give more to a cute woman than a guy. She retorted back that men might get a higher tip for being (unfairly) more respected. After a quick back and forth, a strange old man came up to the pair and offered a way to prove their points. He gave each of them a small vial and told them to drink. They each shrugged before downing them and passing out. Don woke up the next morning, but it wasn’t in his own bed. He was at Tamera’s house...and weirder still, he found himself in her body. He quickly called up himself, and soon found out that they had indeed swapped bodies. Tamera told Don that it was truly a way to resolve their argument. Don wasted no time with his plan.

He arrived at the bar that night in Tamera’s body wearing a long trench coat. They set up and opened for business. By the end of happy hour, Don had made far less in tips. But then it started to get busy and Don let loose his secret weapon. He tore off the trench to reveal a gold bikini. Then he jumped up on the bar and started dancing. The tips started pouring in, and all Tamera could do was look onward with digust.

I'll Be Okay

“Sheila, Honey, are you okay?”

Robert could hear the words being spoken right above him, but he didn’t yet realize they were being spoken to him. The last thing he remembered was passing out, and now his eyes were beginning to flutter open to see a balding man hovering above him.

“Oh, thank God you’re all right Sheila!” The man exclaimed before lifting Robert to a seated position and giving him a big hug.

Robert was a little confused before he looked down at his own body only to realize that it wasn’t his body! Something strange must have happened when he passed out, and he wound up switching bodies with this guy’s wife! But for the time being, he realized he’d have to pretend to be her. He’d start seeming awfully crazy if he claimed to be a man. So he forced a smile and said, “I’ll be okay.”

How to Swap Bodies (Part 2)

As Keith continued to read, he soon discovered that the instructions were not only complicated but also quite boring. In fact, after a few pages, he soon found himself nodding off. What he had no way of knowing was that before using the book to cast the spell to switch bodies with Keith, Nicole had cast a protection spell on the book to prevent him from reading it. The sleep would affect anyone besides her who tried to read the body swapping book -- which would include Keith even in Nicole’s body. He’d be out for at least an hour.
