Traffic on the street was unusually light for rush hour as Malcolm made his way to the office. The parking lot was empty enough that he almost thought it was a holiday he had forgotten about.
It wasn’t until he arrived at the area of the office where the programmers worked that he got the biggest shock, however. A woman was sitting in one of the chairs; there were no women working in the programming department. He thought she was HR at first, aboout to tell him that everyone was fired. But she stood up to greet him, and she certainly wasn’t dressed like someone in HR.
“Is that you, Malcolm?” She asked, “You didn’t read your email before coming in? Or wach the news?”
“I’m sorry, who are you?” Malcolm asked.
“It’s Eddie. There was this whole body swapping thing yesterday. It was all over the news, Bro. Like, everyone swapped bodies...except for you, I guess? They sent an email telling people they didn’t have to come in. I did just to escape my wife. She’s pretty jealous of my new body, and I don’t need to hear her all day...”
