(Not) Making It Work (Part 2)

View Part 1 of (Not) Making It Work.

After my girlfriend and I broke up, I wasn’t quite sure what to do next. I suppose after being in a relationship for so long I had forgotten what being single was like. Plus, the added complexity of the Great Shift and everyone being in someone else’s body made the whole experience even more chaotic.

At first, I would just try to show up situation as if I were a guy. I’d show up at a bar or a club, and try to strike up a conversation. But, I dunno, maybe I just wasn’t as comfortable or confident doing this all now that I was in my ex-girlfriend’s body.

I decided to try a different approach.

I’m sure my ex would’ve been psyched to see me in a dress and heels, though, quite honestly, I was moving awkwardly and probably looked more like a man than ever as I wore this sort of stuff at the club. Finding a chair was a lifesaver, and I was starting to think this wasn’t a good idea.

And that’s when she came up to me. The woman was around my age. She explained how guys in women’s bodies were just “her thing,” and that the Great Shift was like an absolute feast for her. I smiled and nodded, but it was my discomfort that seemed to be getting her excited. I wasn’t sure if she was genuinely interested, or if she was just fetishizing me, but it was also the first interest I was getting while being in this body.
