Forecasted

There was no rain in the forecast, but the ominous, dark clouds usually still kept people away from the beach. This was just fine for Brody; he preferred an empty beach, and this dreary day was perfect for that.

When he arrived, there was only one other car in the parking lot. A single towel and umbrella was set up, which he kept his distance from. The only evidence of another human being around was a dark head of hair bobbing up and down in the water, which looked like little more than a dot from his vantage point.

Despite the weatherman’s claim of “no rain,” the storm arrived very suddenly. It was like an instant downpour with intense thunder and lightning. He didn’t have time to get back to the parking lot, nor did the other person on the beach with him. And with a strange colorful flash from one of the lightning bolts, the storm instantly dissipated as quickly as it came.

But the storm left behind more than rain, it had somehow swapped his body with the other person on the beach -- a young woman wearing a purple swimsuit. Despite being soaked from the storm, he didn’t pick up his towel to dry off. After all, it was wet from the rain as well. He just felt like he needed to cover up more. He felt so exposed in her swimsuit.

And it seemed she felt just as awkward in his. He watched as his own body came running over, using the towel to try to cover up his former body’s chest area. She started demanding answers, but Brody didn’t have any. He had no idea why they had swapped bodies any better than she did.
