The scientists of the world were happy. The recent phenomenon was proof of a multiverse when our universe collided with another. Through some sort of weird quantum entanglement, there was an odd merging of the slight differences between the two two slightly different worlds. I was unfortunately one of those differences.
My brain was from what we called the Prime Universe. I had been a young male, 25 years old, living in an apartment in New York City. Audrey had been born on the exact same date and time as me in the Alt Universe. She worked the same job, lived at the same address on the same floor.
There were differences, too. From the evidence I could find, she seemed more outgoing and more eccentric. There was actually evidence all over, as our apartments had merged in interesting ways just like our bodies did -- this also made the strange layout of my NYC apartment all the more strange -- with things like clothes and photos from her life littered behind while many of mine remained as well. I looked at the crack in the bathroom mirror that had formed at the time of entanglement (which was now in the middle of the living room), and it all seemed so metaphoric for what was happening to me...
