The Great Shift had been quite the catalyst in Lou’s life. For sure, things were likely to be upended when he went from being a guy in his early 30s to a woman in her late 40s, but he never expected things to play out quite like this.
He and his wife had made plans to try to continue as normal. People expected her to be the one to cheat; she was in the body of a gorgeous supermodel now and seemingly way out of his league.
And yet it was Lou who actually cheated when he was alone one night at the office with a co-worker now in the body of a 50-year-old man. It wasn’t that he didn’t love his wife. He did, but his body craved something else that his wife couldn’t provide no matter how beautiful she was.
He confessed his transgression the next morning. Within a week, he was moving out. He wasn’t sure what was next, but he hated that the Great Shift had ever happened. And yet deep down, he knew he had no one to blame but himself.
