Swapping bodies with an international superstar as a result of the Great Shift was surreal. As is swapped bodies wasn’t weird enough, her agent called me immediately to tell me to pretend not to be shifted like everyone else and offered me a lot of money to do so. I was told the choreography could be learned; I’d get voice lessons. I laid out a few other conditions, like relocating to Los Angeles instead of Seoul.
I should’ve asked for more.
It wasn’t even the stressful schedule of practice and touring and filming and modeling. It was that I found I was almost never left alone. Arriving at a hotel lobby, I’d be swarmed with fans.
For a weeks, I had a trick. I’d show up without the entourage of managers and agents; I’d wear plain, baggy clothes; the biggest thing that allowed me to hide was not putting on any makeup. However, it wasn’t long before the media picked up on this trick and my short bursts of normalcy were broken forever. I was doomed to be a celebrity.
