Jin should’ve realized getting back to his own time wouldn’t be so easy. Well, technically, getting back to his own time wasn’t the problem -- getting back to his own body was.
Simply put, the device that returned him to the present was quite similar to the device that sent him to the past. It brought his brain into the body of a person inhabiting that time, without much control as to exactly whose body he would end up in.
As such, he was back in his own time, but still certainly in the wrong body. This new body was Asian, like his own, but it was also obviously female (like the one he had just been in). He’d probably have to tweak his device for years to be able to have the control needed to get back to normal...though again, the amount of time really technically shouldn’t matter to him...
Unless busying the parts to build the time machine slightly altered the future in a way that his male Asian body was instead born female because a different sperm fertilized his egg at conception due to a minor example of the butterfly effect eventually causing his parents to make love a fraction of a second later than in his original timeline.
