Love.
After the countless hours that had spent in Sheyu’s body, the feeling of love was unfamiliar but welcome for Fred. In this room, there was someone who loved him. She hugged him tightly, and he hugged her back with his tentacles. He didn’t realize he had lost his humanity; he was too overwhelmed by the feelings of love.
In between hugs and games, Fred spent his time swimming in tanks. And yet, the curiosity of the door beckoned for him. When his love was asleep one day, he escaped from his tank. He attempted to turn the handle, but it wouldn’t budge. Yet it also filled him with the knowledge of how to leave if he wanted to. As the details filled his head, he wanted to cry -- and he probably would have if he was physically capable of doing so.
It was several days before he could bring himself to do it. As he love pulled him from the tank, she hugged him as usual. And as usual he hugged her back. But this time, he never let go. He kept hugging his love tighter and tighter. She began to turn blue. She didn’t fight it; she just kept showing love by hugging. And Fred kept hugging harder until she finally stopped breathing.
One she stopped breathing, Fred slid his tentacles into her nose, slowing approaching her brain. His love was no more, and he was taking over. Once he had control of her body, he was finally able to cry. It was hard to see through the tears as he made his way back to open the door and re-enter the hallway. He wiped his tears, but they kept coming; but he had given himself another chance to pick a door.
