I knew I was dreaming. It was on an alien world with a surreal sky. The land was nothing but rocks with only a faint figure in the distance. I walked towards it. As I came closer, I realized I was walking towards her.
“Who are you?” I asked.
She turned, her hairless head reflecting the light of the moon. “Do you not know?” She asked.
I shrugged; I had no words.
“I am you. I am who you always were meant to be. I have been hidden inside you for so long.”
I knew what she was saying was true. I hadn’t told anyone I thought I was trans. I hadn’t really even wanted to admit it to myself. And even when called out on it in a dream.
“No!” I shouted, “It’s not true. It’s not...”
She smiled because she knew me better than I knew myself. Because she was me...
