We lost contact with the colony weeks ago. The higher-ups sent our team to investigate what happened. When our ship got close to the planet, our signal started breaking up, then things went dark.
I found myself on the planet’s surface, but everything seemed wrong. I first thought my bio-readings were off; it turned out to be my body that was the problem -- it wasn’t mine! She was another member of my team. Her name was Brit; I guess that was my name now. After all, no one meeting me would think otherwise. All my systems registered her body, her face, and her life instead of my own. There wasn’t much time to dwell on the fact I had a new gender right now -- the suit would manage all bodily functions until I could find a rest pod, after all.
And I now had two mysteries to solve now. The first was how an entire thriving colony of over 10,000 people vanished in an instant. The other was how our team’s ship seemed to do the same -- and leave me in Brit’s body in the process. I had a feeling the two events were related, but there was scant evidence on the ground so far. If anything, it looked like all of the people just disappeared and most of the tech just stopped working...
