On the night of The Great Shift, Pete found himself inside a dirty gas station bathroom. The woman he had no phone or purse with her, because she left both in the car with her friend. He had no way to understand what had just happened to him. He was just terrified.
It didn’t help matters when a loud burly man began banging to get in. The thick metal door with his huge deadbolt lock helped assure him that the man wouldn’t be getting in, but Pete also had nowhere to really go either. He curled up in the corner. It felt gross, but it wasn’t like there was any clean place in this restroom to sit.
He just tried to contemplate what was happening. How had he suddenly become a woman? Where was his? Who was the scary man pounding on the door? He knew he’d have to leave eventually; to figure all this out. But for now, he was much too scared.
