Aidan hadn’t ventured out much in the months after the Great Shift. Adjusting to being in Yumiko’s body had been hard for him, and he hadn’t want to rush returning to his old haunts in the aftermath. Part of that was simply buying new clothes to change Yumiko’s style. She owned a lot of things like tube tops and micro skirts. Most of her entire wardrobe had made him embarrassed to even be seen in public. It took time to buy a more conservative ensemble.
But even with the modest skirt and cardigan sweater, he still found himself gravitating towards the corner of the bar. He had been a regular here; he knew many of his old friends were probably here, but they likely all had new faces just like his did. He found it difficult to reach out and talk to people to find out who was who. It seemed stupid, but maybe Yumiko had dressed in the outward way she did to break through her shyness. He imagined that sort of look encouraged people to talk her even if she might be feeling too shy to talk to them.
